wow these people are so lucky to see their familiy again , im 24 now and was in the german military , i graduaded and we all stood outside and waited tilk our family came to pick us up , but i was one of some (3-5 people out of 50?) who no one picked up and went alone home . lost my parrents in a car crash, grandparents due to cancer , never had a gf , sister nor a brother. I was in the German army for only one year, 29 years ago. When I came home on weekends, in my army uniform, I was looked at at the train station as if I were an alien. Never a word about how great it was that I was protecting Germany. That's why I think it's so great how you celebrate your heroes.

The one that brought me to tears was when I returned from Afghanistan after 13 months to grandson's saluting me. Because they respect me as a person, a soldier and their hero.

My mother didn't say anything, just hugged me and cried for a long time. In that precious moment, I realized the true meaning of home and that love cannot replace a mother.*

It's nice to see others giving a warm welcoming home. In 1970, when myself and four others who were returning from BASIC and AIT, we were given a very disrespectful welcome. We were met by some protesters who decided to throw it few tomatoes at us. They were lucky because two police Officers decided to give them a ride in the back of the Paddy Wagon. One of the Officer had just returned from Vietnam as a Reserve Marine and he didn't take it too kindly in how we were treated
That was a shame that so called people would disrespect people in the service my dad served in ww2 and he was ok but there are the horrible things that all service men and we on have gone through and they have no idea what they have gone through so shame on them
these always hit the hardest, bc my dad was in prison for 3 years, and the day I saw him, I was in the last few months of freshmen year. I got called out of class to get dismissed, and I walked to the parking lot, (I had no idea he was finally home) I dropped everything and ran into his arms. I will never forget the day. I love my dad.❤

I know im really late on this but as famiky of two vets. One served in afghanistan and iraq and another on seas. I cant express how relived and happy your are to see your family member come home safe and soun after years of being away. My grandpa served but didnt make it home. In heaven i cant wait to hug him tightly and not want to let go

In 1970, when myself and four others who were returning from BASIC and AIT, we were given a very disrespectful welcome.
We were met by some protesters who decided to throw it few tomatoes at us.
They were lucky because two police Officers decided to give them a ride in the back of the Paddy Wagon.
One of the Officer had just returned from Vietnam as a Reserve Marine and he didn't take it too kindly in how we were treated
That was a shame that so called people would disrespect people in the service my dad served in ww2 and he was ok but there are the horrible things that all service men and we on have gone through and they have no idea what they have gone through so shame on them

these always hit the hardest, bc my dad was in prison for 3 years, and the day I saw him, I was in the last few months of freshmen year. I got called out of class to get dismissed, and I walked to the parking lot, (I had no idea he was finally home) I dropped everything and ran into his arms. I will never forget the day. I love my dad.❤

It’s been 9 long months… Stationed at Korea. By the time I get home it’ll be over a year since I left my family, my bros and the love of my life. 4 more months to go and hopefully I’ll see them again 😭❤️🇵🇷

I know im really late on this but as famiky of two vets. One served in afghanistan and iraq and another on seas. I cant express how relived and happy your are to see your family member come home safe and soun after years of being away. My grandpa served but didnt make it home. In heaven i cant wait to hug him tightly and not want to let go
