Richard Lefroy trust me, I was sitting there for about 20 minutes looking at the ledge haha. It actually wasn't too bad, just get down low and go go go 😂
Andrew, I got on to your channel via that of Andrew Marr’s. Sorry the sun didn’t do what you wanted. You certainly had your tripod in a precarious position on those rocks. I’ve done things like that in my ‘younger youth’.
Welcome Robert! I hope you enjoy the content mate 🤘 with the sun, it is what it is really 😁 it was such a cool little hike/ledge to visit and one of highlights from our time in Tassie!
Landscapes By Zalman Wainhaus thanks so much, really appreciate the kind words. Yes.... on this outing the elusive sunset light got the better of me 😔 but I won't be deterred haha
I did the actual Three Capes Track walk and its awesome. Cape Pillar and "The Blade" are just as scary. I was too chicken to stand on the edge of the Blade to get the money shot. You must have been wrecked doing Cape Hauy and Cape Raoul in the same day!!
Sam Kruijver mate I'm working on the Cape Pillar video this week! Just wait and see 😬👌. Yeah we were fairly ruined after that day. Lucky it rained the next day coz we were planning on going to Cape Pillar that day. So glad we came back 4 days later
Look forward to it. I've subbed now so I should see it when you publish it. When you came back from Cape Pillar, did you follow the Three Capes track back over Mt Fortescue (towards Cape Hauy) or did you go back along the old track that you came in on? I'm thinking of going back down that way to get better photos now that I know what the place is like and how long it takes to get there etc.
Sam Kruijver 👌🤞 na we did there and back on the same track. We considered going through the coastal route, but it was much longer and we had already been that way, so gave it a miss! The walk was pretty good, plus the boardwalks of the three capes tracks makes it a piece of cake 🎂

Unfortunately as most people do, you missed the best lookout. At a fork on the track, before the end, there's a left and a right path. The right one is cairned, and leads to where you were. The left one leads to another lookout that gives you a better view of the cape, from the side, and most importantly, a view of the seal colony that's at the bottom of the cape. Too bad you missed it. It's basically behind your head on the right at 3:35. You can guess it'd offer a great viewpoint towards the cape.
Hey! Yeah we saw that look out too but decided to hang out over the ridge instead. It was a great hike and apart from filming the video it was great to just sit on top and look out over the ocean! I’m so devo that my sunset scene at the end didn’t work though 😔
Diego McCartney I know hey?! It's was looking so promising.... next time though 😉 I was considering hiking back for it, but after all this, I was ruined for a day or so haha. Glad you liked it Diego!
Hi Andrew. I'm only a minute in but read in the comments that you did both Hauy and Rauol on the same day and that's what my partner and I plan on doing this June. The goal is to shoot sunrise at Hauy, grab some lunch back at the car and chill for a bit then head to Rauol for golden hour and sunset. Do you think it's achievable in winter with the shorter days?
Oh my, I don't think I would get that close to the edge, but I guess if you want the photo that's what you got to do. Another cool video mate.
Rob Lawson thanks Rob! The wind didn't help at all!
living the dream!! keep it up :)
John Martin thanks John!!
Ah mate just watching you up there scared me haha, great work again! :)
Robbie Holmes haha cheers mate!
Robbie Holmes haha cheers mate!
Killer shot of the cape in the middle there. Don't think I would have climbed out that far... but you do what you have to do to get the shot, right?!

Really great stuff! You had some awesome compositions, and I'm sure you'll get the light on another outing. Thanks for sharing! Subscribed :)

Ah too bad the light didn’t work out at the end. It was a nicely framed image. I’m sure there will be more sunrises/sunsets:) Thanks for sharing.
