This is the video I needed before purchasing. I'm moving from Ableton and a complicated set up to a reduced set up with the Boss and my flute piano vocal performance! THANK YOU for the demo x
I'm so glad you found this useful Gary. Please do keep us posted on how you get on, and I'm always happy to chat about looping - you can contact me through my website. Very best wishes to you, Jo
Thank you, and all the best with your composing and performing too. We all pass the baton continually 😃

Awesome video! Thats actually the first time I saw a looper artist from the 'string section' sharing the creative process for looping and you did it brillantly. I'm a looper violinist and I run in a Rc300, but I was thinking abiut moving to RC600 and your video has confirmed it to me as a good decision. Possibilities are endless! Also, I loved the tip you gave in the beginning, lefting a empty loop in track 1 to avoid 'leaps' in repetition, as string musician I face it all the time and now you gave the formula hehehe Also, as string looper, RC300 made me struggle really hard with EQ, because strings get harsh in the middle real fast, and I had to compensate in the levels, but this has a EQ! That feature seduced me. Also, you probably know, R 300 has a 'compressor' in the mixer that actually is not that flexible, so, well, you know the struggle! Again, thank you for your video. This was really generous.
Thank you for your message - I don't think it is possible to download settings as a 'patch' but I can look in to it for sure. Hope you are enjoying your looping journey and creativity! Best wishes, Jo
Amazing! Thank you so much for this. Did you say at the beginning that you were still using the RC-300 live? Also, I’m curious on how you go about composing. Do you compose using the pedal? As a looper myself, I’d love to see how you notate this so you remember all of this.
Hello! This is something for a longer chat sometime, but I'm really glad you enjoyed the demo. I use the RC600 live, have done for ages now as I was lucky to have one before they were available on the market. It's an excellent machine. Composition, how long have you got. !! I do use the pedal yes, but it is my slave and not other way round. Usually I start with cello or piano, or a bit of sound I've created on GT1000 (was using GT100 in this video though). I teach and do workshops fairly frequently and it would be lovely to speak with you in person some day! Jo
@@JoQuailCello thank you so much for the detailed response! I would love to attend one of your workshops, even though I don’t play cello. I’ll keep an eye on your website!
Ah, that's the GT100 which is a BOSS multifx processor pedal. All the sounds you hear from my cello I have created with this fx unit. I actually use the GT1000 now (thank you BOSS!) which is a brilliant pedal. Some people prefer 'stomp boxes' or separate fx units, personally I prefer multifx because the signal chain can be altered on the fly, there are infinite possibilities for sound modelling and it's really easy to travel with too. I use only these two pedals for all my live performances GT1000 and RC600. I would recommend strongly if you're going down the extended technique / effected sound route as part of your compositional process. Have fun! Jo
@@JoQuailCello Ahhhh thank you so much for the detailed explanation. Yes that is verrrrry interesting. I am transitioning from Ableton where I obviously have all kinds of extended infinite FX possibilities for my flute piano and vocals. But I REALLY want to get off the laptop for live performance... I find it very distracting and psyhologically. I do big festival performances, and solo concerts and laptops can be quite tricky and sensitive, and the more you demand of them the less they perform! They make me nervous! I want to get back to just me and my instruments. I know these pedals and loopers have a learning curve but I pick things up super quick and if it means I can get off that screen, then I am up for the journey! With that GT1000 can it do super long lush reverbs like 30-60 second reverbs? And never ending delays? Things like that??? ps Jo, I REALLY appreciate your time to respind, thank you so much.
@@garyalbertmusic this sounds super, I'd love to hear / see you some day!! Got it, I understand. You'll be fine with the RC600, if you're already a laptop on stage person it's just another way of doing the same thing. I agree, I think it makes the performance something more magical without a laptop, but I respect all the brilliant musicians who use them, I take may hat off to you because I couldn't begin to make a laptop concert work!!! Yes, there is for example up to 10 seconds on reverb available (multiple reverb choices, plate/ tera/ room/ etc etc) to you on the GT1000, BUT also there is a master delay, and four separate delays so you can create infinite sounds. It also depends on the signal chain before this, I can get infinite sounds going if I've put some other processing in place or moved the reverb etc. I often use slow gear for my pads, if I'm looping them anyway, makes for a smoother effect. Keep us up to date please! Jo
awesom
Great Video
Thanks!
Wow wow wow Just WOW. Anazing piece of music that really pushes the envelope. Very imaginative. Keep it up.
Thank you! That's really encouraging, I'll make some more videos like this in due course. Best wishes, Jo

What a fantastic walk through, Jo. Thoroughly engaging and motivating for those of us figuring out solo works of our own.

You're very welcome, please keep me posted on how you get on, and yes, the ghost loop is a great weapon for us string players! All the best, Jo
Incredible!
Thank you x😃
Jo, this was the best demo of anything I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing yourself with us in Warsaw with Emma.

Подскажите, есть ли возможность скачать такие настройки в boss кс 600.
Можете ли Вы поделиться?)))
