    My 2022 23G had this problem. I live outside Seattle and found this to be a very necessary repair. I used some black 2” eternabond tape to seal it.
    For those who are going to do this, the rear awning has two screws securing it in place that are accessed by extending the awning. With the screws removed, the awning will tilt up enough to access the problem area. Mark the location of the screw holes before you cover them with tape for a easy reinstall. Thanks for the videos! I’ve also used your generator reviews to settle on the maxpeedingrods 3200.

      Wow cool thanks for watching. And yes hard to believe this is a issue that should have never been a issue.
      I hope GD addresses this.

    Just picked up a new off the lot 2025 25g yesterday. I watched a lot of videos and came across this one. Same issue. I just used sealant along with sealant tape across the length and taped off the hole. Thank you for making this video . Saved me some hassle down the road.

    This was a problem with mine, had it leaking a few months ago, I couldn’t figure out where the water was coming in at. At first I thought it was coming in at the top of the roof but it kept leaking after real sealing the back of the roof. Traced it to the awning as you show here. It was currently rainy season where I’m at so I put a bead of silicon across the top of the awning and that has stoped it for now. Come warm weather time I’ll have to take it apart and do this fix.

      Wow. I got it before much any rain hit it so lucky for me. But now I feel much better about this. I couldn’t believe it when I noticed all the exposed area.
      Thanks so much for the feedback. This obviously needs to be addressed from GD.

    Great video Johnny. I was going to purchase a used 3019 g21 the other day and I have a question for you. First the issue. As I was inside the toy hauler the certified inspector I hired stared off in the roof. As he walked I could see the ceiling sink in perty deep every step he took. It looked crazy. As he walked toward the back of the hauler it stopped. I advised the inspector of it and he said that is normal. That roofs are not made to good and it’s no big sign but he will checkout with his gun thing for water intrusion’s. At then end he said the roof was good: although he said that there were many cracks in almost all sealants on the openings up there like the sky light, dewar vent , and so on. He said the cracks were not a issue just re seal it asap. He said it has 2 other protectants under that sealant. Another sealant and then a water protective tape. My question is when you go up top on your rig does it sink in as you walk on it? Has anyone noticed while inside as you walked. Although the inspector gave it a green light on the roof I went with my gut and walked away on top of that the a axle was bad. Any info would be highly appreciated.

      My roof did not do that. It was solid all the way. But honestly I wasn’t very pleased with that trailer on some things, and honestly after still staying in the forums I’m glad I moved on. Seems to many are having consistent issues. Sure some are fine. But they are heavy for the size and just not very comfy at all. Well mine wasn’t. Definitely don’t recommend a flip bed as there is really no way to fix it unless you wanna redo the whole setup which is dumb.
      I feel they came up short on this model. My opinion. Build seemed fine but just lots of little things. Honestly my Jayco has been solid. Very lucky.

      @@johnnysweekends so you got rid of your g21? For what reason? We are still considering a g21 which we prefer a smaller hauler. Did yours have lots of issues? We are considering a used 2019 g21 and a used 2020 Stryker 2313, and a 2613. What jayco model do you have so I can look it up. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

      @tonytigere5684 I had a 29G. It was super heavy empty for a TT, add water and a toy and the 3/4 ton almost felt like a half ton. A Heavy duty weight distribution hitch was definitely needed. And even then everyone has a problem towing it. I was fine as I have towed most all my life, since 16 lol, and I can say it was a trailer I would have to pay attention to loaded. Nothing like my 5th wheel. But that’s different. I didn’t have much problems except the water pump was rubbing against the wall and a couple electrical things that were minor. The layout was not user friendly and over just not comfy at all no matter where you sat. The back drop down bed, the flip couch and more just not great. The flip master bed, horrible, and absolutely no storage. I have had a couple toy haulers before and knew what to expect but I enjoyed the older ones better. Sold it because I headed a different direction and family had no time for large toys. I think there are other options I would grab but maybe the 25g and down are better layed out.

      Thank you for this video, and pointing out this (one of many) problem. I have a brand new 2022 GD 25G. I’ll take a look later today. Likely I’ll be adding to my growing list defects. Do you happen to have the “water inside the ramp/door problem”? The one they say is “normal”? I’m not buying that excuse.

      It’s beside stove on wall behind drawers.The other one for front slide in front slide of bed on wall a foot off floor.Behind a black plastic box cover.Wires are a mess.Someone’s been in it,too.
      I put a gutter below the rear awning.Used a metal saw to cut the lop 1/8” off to fit below led strip.Due to ramp weather strip protruding up.A monkey musta installed strip because looks like crap and let’s water in.
      If this works it works.If not will address in fall/winter.
      Although new seals on list to do for ramp.
      Make sure 3 rubber bumpers are on each side of ramp pole latches.The vertical pipes that hold door shut.There 1/4 inch plug bumpers.
      I really like this 31g but it’s a turd!
      I’ll build my next one myself ! Was an auction deal though so will recoup $ easily.

    Hey are you towing it with a half ton? I'm thinking about upgrading to this unit from my 32' but wondering if it's too much movement when cars pass you on the hwy

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  Рік тому

      Im not i towed with my 3/4. This is not, and I repeat not a half ton unit. You’ll eat up a lot of payload just on tongue weight. I no longer have it. But even with my 3/4 ton truck when Loaded you could tell it was there. I laugh when people say …”oh cant even feel it” lol. My 5th wheel is heavier and it almost felt like that.

    Because they are cheaply built that`s why. What`s wrong with you, your not suppose to be looking at there build quality. LOL You get what you paid for, they`re made to get them out the door as fast as they can. I`ve been shopping for a while and have come the the realization. I could do a better job myself. But the ATC seems to be up to the task, up big bucks.

      But for a $65k and being grand design I expected a little more. Nice unit for sure.

    • @chasf1066
      @chasf1066 2 роки тому +1

      @@johnnysweekends ATC`s are pretty much all aluminum. Which means not as much flex or no flex while driving down the road and no mold if you get a leak. Which is one of the biggest problems with these if you ask me. Alot of these guys are using 1/8 frame rails from what I have seen. So they can say you can tow with a 1/2 ton. There is noway in hell I would tow a 28-30 billboard down the road with a 1/2ton no matter brand it is. Would you.
