I took a real in person Mensa IQ test around a year ago, and I have a few points I wanna clarify:
    1. With a standard deviation of 15, normal intelligence lies in between 85 and 115 IQ.
    2. if you score over 130 (>= 130, top 2%) you are considered very intelligent and can join Mensa.
    3. You can obtain a maximum score of 160-165 IQ (since IQ is derived from standard deviation, and it's extremely hard to create questions for individuals with 160+iq, and with only 35 questions, you can't get very precise in that range).
    4. the kind of intelligence that Mensa tests are (as described to me) potential intelligence. The test is made to not be dependent on natural talent, linguistic/mathematical knowledge, etc. This is why tests are made up of 8 shapes, and 1 blank. It tests us on how well we can make connections between shapes (and subsequently ideas/concepts). This means that IQ has nothing to do with how smart someone is, their salary, or their future.
    5. People with high IQs often have an easier time learning new concepts/tools. But in most cases, training and experience is a much better way to learn and master a new skill/tool/concept.
    6. For some reason I can't understand, tests are sent to a specially trained psychologists for evaluation and grading.
    7. On my test, I got 128 IQ or top 3%, so I sadly can't join Mensa.

    • @Adrian-op8tj
      @Adrian-op8tj Рік тому

Well like you said if you would have done a previous iq test that requires the tools you didn't yet know in this one and practice them you'd do much better in this one. It's entirely possible that toast did that so he did better than a complete iq test newbie. Training makes you super good at these but I think they are probably most accurate when you don't know the tools you need? Idk how to put it I range between 118-160 based on the type of questions and whether I learned the tool or trick.

Whether using explanations to think is a predetermined habit or he's doing it simply to provide content for his video is arguable. Any geniuses watching this want to explain 32-34? I just figured out 35 is D: each row and column represents a collection of 6 shapes. Each square has 2 of the 6 shapes. The shapes are: v, v, upsidedown v, upper bar, side bars, and upper-lower bars. It's a bit confusing because some of the shapes overlap. The first square for example has both of the v's, so it looks like there is only one v. Also the bottom left square has both the upper bar, and the upper-lower bar shape, but it looks like it only has the upper-lower.

Imo, 33 is E and 34 is A. Cant seem to figure out 32 tho.
33 is patterned diagonally. Top triangle flip opposite to rewrite the pattern while bottom triangle is flip opposite to again rewrite the pattern.
34 is also patterned diagonally with black dots at fixed position while white dots move around clockwise. The straight line divides the sides. Theory is If a black dot is present on left (right) side, there can only be one white dot on left (right) side. If no black dot is present on left (right) side, there can be two white dots on that side. Next is just moving white dots clockwise and eliminate extra white dots only if black dot is present at that particular side to keep white dots count to one.
Hope im right tho. Im not 100% sure on this too hahah

4:02 i think whats going on vertically is just the number of dots. so in the first row that would be 2,1,3 the second would be 1,3,2 and the third is 3,2,1 so it further proves c to be the correct answer.

Exercise 35 (23:42) took me forever but I think I finally figured it out! If you look at the individual rows and take the overlap of the two boxes on the right, the box on the left will contain only the lines which that overlap lacks.
If you number the boxes 1-9 from left to right, top to bottom. Box one contains only what 2 and 3 do not. And box 4 contains only what 5 and 6 do not. So, for box 7 to have the parallel horizontal lines, boxes 8 and 9 must have all of the lines except for those two. All of the answers have at least one of the lines in box 7 except for answer D, which contains the two missing vertical parallel lines that box 8 doesnt have, and does not contain the two horizontal parallel lines in box 7.
    So the answer is D
(Toast actually got it right cuz he’s a genius)
It would be really cool if toast saw my comment 😄

Oh my god I took this test in like 4th grade I remember it. The school had me take it to see if they should put me in this extracurricular called “Discover” I remember building a toothpick bridge we had to manage time, resources, and money day by day and at the end we had to see how much weight it could hold. We also watched this SUPER long “movie” throughout the year idk they were on a boat studying whales and some old guy got hypothermia and they got stranded on an island and all that

where time got low and it got too hard for Toast and most of chat
    Exercise 32: by rows, flip(1st^2nd) = 3rd

Exercise 34: by any, it's obv there's a black dot at mid L; by backward torus diags, hollow dots rotate 180deg wrt center, and they evidently are masked by black dots
