Yeah me too. I like Lewis but Max is a better driver and it’s good to see someone win it who deserves it based on their driving skills rather than just having a better car. Fans were sick of it, realizing that Mercedes drivers were only on the podium because of the vehicle not the driver, (especially Bottas) thus the booing by the crowds when Lewis was interviewed. They realized there was a much stronger driver, pure raw talent called Max and a massive percent of the F1 population were screaming that last lap for him to win. And for most it will be one of those moments they will always remember.

Such a great view got to see the overtake, Schumacher doing donuts right in front. What a great spot to watch the action.

It also shows very well that Lewis did a very poor job defending at that turn. He left the door completely open as if he was on a normal lap with no one behind him.. was that only due to the tires? Yeah, interesting POV. And I think Lewis was not expecting this at all and was preparing for attack in the next chicanes. You did not see anyone overtaking here through the whole weekend, did you? This was a moment that will have be appreciated later, Max could have problem overtaking Lewis later so he used a moment of surpise and send ti in in... kinda rowdy fashion ;-) It is very well visible from the POV, it looked cleaner from on the TV. But yeah, it worked.

Because there where still Marshalls on track. When those left the track, there wasn't enough time to let all drivers pass and the race would have endend under safetycar. And thats just what all teams, including Mercedes, wanted to avoid. Masi did exactly what all teams wanted.

I have never been to a Grand Prix and I would love to go, so don’t get me wrong, but this seems like the only massively dramatic sporting event I can think of where it actually looks less exciting to be there watching compared to watching on TV. It feels like the crowd didn’t have a clear sense of the enormity of what was happening. Watching at home I had a very clear picture as told by the commentators and team radio of what was going on. Feels like being at the race leaves you a little detached from that.
Yeah that's true. I've been to the 2016 Belgian GP and we had a seat at the end of the Kemmel straight. We didn't have any TV screens or narrators that could tell what was going on at the other side of the track. It was just every 2 minutes that the whole field would pass by and that's all. Afterwards we found out that Magnussen had a big crash at Radillon but we sat there and wonder why there weren't any cars coming (we thought the race ended but there was a Red Flag) The only thing we had was a French guy with an old transistor radio who told the whole grand stand what was going on but that wasn't enough. i felt like i was living in the 70's. I'm glad I went just because of the atmosphere and the sound of the cars, but if you want to follow the whole race than it's better from the couch.

And to all the Max fans who simply applaud Max and do not hate Lewis, thank you. I find it quite satisfying that people who respect both drivers while still having a preference exist.
Even as a big fan of Max this footage isn’t really pleasant to watch because of all the drama that the chain of events that has forced both contenders as a team brought in motion, witch eventually leads to the mistakes made from all angles. This drama has been ongoing for the past year and still is on this very day. Great spectacle at the point of view then offcourse

As an Irishman, a neutral, and someone that loves the way Max attacks and wins, someone who saw Max as a future F1 champion and F1 legend tbh, I have to say that this was awarded, plain and simple. Lewis won the championship, no question of that but Max was gifted it by Michael Masi in the MOTHER of all bad decisions. I would have loved Max's first Championship to be won on merit and as such, Max is as much a victim here as Lewis, but lets be real here... The rules were changed with a lap to go and Max was awarded the win, the championship and the title... ...an absolute shit-show and one that was unfait to both of the drivers and teams. A non-win in my opinion... a year that should be deleted from the records IMO. But 2022? Maz, you earned it and I'm proud of you. For me, this is your 1st Championship F1 win. Enjoy....
Max did win on merit. He had to overtake Lewis on the track, and so he did. Also, the rules weren't changed on the fly. The rules, as it was written, was open to interpretation by the race director. And he did so in order to end the championship properly - by racing.
