      Wow. You were able to get that close to a turtle. They always hear me and jump into the lake before I get anywhere close.

    Had the pleasure of seeing a pair of American Redstarts in my back woods this year, wonderful.

    What a neat place! We hope to be able to see it and the beautiful birds and animals there sometime too. Amazing to think that there are still wilderness areas like this to explore. 🙂

    The quietness of Boundary Waters is awesome. A crow flying by as loud as a train. My highlights include monster Smallmouth bass and hand feeding Grey Jay in camp

    Cool. I think the Bald Eagle map is outdated. They have expanded their breeding range greatly in the last couple of decades.

      Most likely! Our friend Terry from SD birds let’s us use his range maps which is awesome but I’m not sure how often he ever updates them.

    Awesome trip :) My GF and I are kind of Bald Eagle freaks :) We have watched Eagle nest cams, from hatching, to fledging. And we have them nesting locally.... One pair right inside of Sacramento City limits . Thank you for the fun vid :)

    Birding by water is very underrated. Have kayaked on lakes looking for birds many a time. This year I also picked up a waverunner which has been a blast to get to hard to access places quickly (just have to kill the engine before getting too close). But is tricky to keep a steady view on both 😅

    That's a beautiful area! Reminds me of some of the places here. Well, some bird species are different since we don't have Magnolia Warblers, but it's still a very similar landscape.

    I just got my FOS Merlin today! Sadly it took fully advantage of the rare San Francisco Fallout that was going on this morning... I also managed to snag a rosebeak which is a little slice of Minnesota in my local patch! 😁

    Mottled sculpin is dope, gotta compare dorsal fins if you got slimy in the area lol

      Definitely. Also not a lot of info about Sculpin species in this particular lake.

    I've noticed that squirrels get bigger as you go north. In Canada, they're like small dogs. I like RBNs.. I wish we had them in Maryland.

    fun fact about loons they cant walk at all, because their feet are designed for paddling and are placed too far back to walk

    How was the fishing?? Only small-mouthed bass? I can't remember - have you vlogged the Sax Zim Bog?

    • @BadgerlandBirding
      @BadgerlandBirding Рік тому +2

      Fishing was great, but slow on the last day as a cold front moved in. Going to try to make a separate episode on our “Badgerland Fishes” channel about it. Smallies, Walleye, and Northerns, along with some Yellow Perch mostly.
