10:49 Oh my god this is some of the best tone i have ever heard on trumpet
Oh yes, Esteban is an incredible player. One of the best if you ask me
I was looking of this thank you!
I saw this on instagram and just had to check it out. Amazing work
Thank you very much!
Same, guess instagram does provide some useful things now and then apart from all the other garbage. This piece was amazing.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra will be patting itself on the back (and thanking its lucky stars) for this hire for the next 20 years. Bud would have been pleased.
He is awesome!
Absolutely! We’re so lucky to have him here in Chicago. He’s a great person and teacher in addition to his playing.
"Memories" makes me think of the trumpet solo in the 2nd movement of "The Pines of Rome" by Respighi ! Same sound ! If you don't know this music you should listen to it it's a masterpiece 😍
@@juliendruon-composeri’m fairly confident he knows what pines of rome is
These themes and melodies have been running through my mind for weeks! Too many contemporary composers have forgotten how to write a great tune. Thank you for reminding us that great virtuosity and genuine emotions can coexist.
Witnessing the birth of a masterpiece is a true privilege 😊
Thank you very much! It means a lot! :)
Man, pieces like these have always made me question why I chose violin over trumpet. Used correctly, that instrument can really shock you of it’s true potential
It is difficult to compete against Esteban Batallán, he is probably the best trumpet player on Earth right now. Still, violin sounds great as well :)
@RicardoMollaAlbero remember we are not comparing musicians a specially trumpet players. Im trumpet player myself, former assistant of a principal from UZ Philarmonic Orchestra. But hearing a first-time trombone and trumpet together composition it just blows me away. Regarding the violin, I always wanted to play one ❤️
12:02
Quite surprised no one’s talking about this beautiful part. Normally composers will go back to A(I chord), instead, Mollá brilliantly proceeds to add D(IV, consequently making D/A chord)for the base, evoking such a grandiose sensation.
Thank you 😊
Esteban is w out a doubt the most exciting player ive ever heard! The power he has is unreal but the control and soft lyrical playing are just as incredible . Chicago is so lucky to have such an artist!!
I know right? The sound just came out of nowhere!
What a beautiful concert! I never would have thought that something so beautiful would still be written these days. Thanks!
Kudos to the two soloists, the conductor, the orchestra and last but not least to the composer.
Being a trumpet student of the Chicago school, and having the opportunity to learn from members of the CSO (including Bud) and hearing the CSO with Bud dozens of times, I've held his former seat with the highest regard and who sits in it. Ridenour was my favorite to occupy the seat since Bud, but I'm glad we found a permanent and deserving player like Esteban. He plays with life, vigor and power, much like Bud did. I look forward to see his growth with the CSO as it evolves into the next generation of players.
When ever I can see and feel the music with my other senses I know I've found a masterpiece.
Thank you Marco!
I am (musically) in love with Esteban Batallan. His dynamics and tone make me swoon. I heard him play the "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra" by Alexander Arutiunian and "Mr. Batallan" by Arturo Sandoval last night. I loved the first piece. The second piece touched and comforted me so much that I felt like I was floating. That's some kind of power. Loving his performances last night so much led me to other videos of his performances, including this one. I'm so grateful to him for all his training, intelligence, heart, and skill!
Can we take a moment abt appreciate how clean that flute solo transitions into the trumpets sound at 10:45
“An Eternity Under the Portico” at 10:45
:)
That part, sounds like a Ghibli ost!! TTATT
@@Xelgnij Yes! Sounds similar to "The boy who swallowed a star" - Joe Isaishi
Brilliant! Best, most idiomatic , and varied brass writing I’ve heard in years. What on earth is going on with brass in Spain? I’ve followed the Hercules Ensemble for years and then Mr. Batallan becomes a worthy successor to Bud Herseth!
Holy crap! Batallán is the best I've ever heard!
Ahh I love this so much 😭😭 Thank you for giving birth to such beautiful music
Thank you very much :)
Lovely piece and world class soloists. Really enjoyed it. Bravo tutti
Thank you Birger!
I'm just shocked. Perhaps the most beautiful orchestral piece/performance I ever have heard. Truly shocking. I love it. I would be so honored if I could ever play that Trombone part man.
Thank you very much! Currently there is only the orchestral part available. www.ricardomolla.com/en/product/finisterrai-concerto-for-trumpet-trombone-and-orchestra/. However if you want to try only the trombone part and the Play-Along you can find it here: myplayalong.com/trombone
I wish I was there to listen to this, absolutely amazing would have definitely cried
Hopefully there will be more ocassions in the future :)
The things I’d do to hear this concerto in person 😭😩
I'm not usually a big fan of brass solos, but these guys are just plain SWEET! Very nice, and I really enjoyed the whole composition and performance.. Thank You!
Thank you very much!
Im so thankful I stumbled upon this masterpiece a month ago. I’m currently trying to let our director play this beauty of a piece. Amazing job and keep on making more pieces like this!! They are very beautiful🩷
Looking forward to listening to your version!
This is amazing! Great job! I play trombone and my brother plays trumpet so I really hope we will be able to play this together someday! Thank you for this masterpiece!
Thank you! Looking forward to listening to your version :)
That what happens when a great tromponist be a great composer ♥️♥️👏🏻👏🏻 .. I havent heard such a pretty music since a while .. thank you ❤❤
This means a lot, thank you very much Ahmed!

Absolutely love the modulation and creative ideas of this piece. A hidden gem
Thanks to comments like this, little by little this piece is not hidden anymore. Thank you!
@ i wish you the very best. Good job with the composition
Precioso!!
¡¡¡¡Bravo artistas!!!! 👏👏👏
Wow the second movement gives me a lot of Rachmaninov’s 2nd symphony vibes with the beautiful harmonies and melody along with the rich illustration and texture by the strings , woodwind and ofc the soloists. Amazing 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Brandon! I am not sure it was a direct influence by Rachmaninov but I can’t deny he is one of my musical heroes!
@ Hahaha not saying u were directly inspired but it definitely reminded me of him the way you made such a melodic line feel never-ending :) (coming from an avid rachmaninov fan) . No problem, you are definitely deserving of this praise!! Very amazing work!!
Esteban Batallán is fabulous! I was also entertained watching how the hairdo of the very attractive principal second violinist changes back and forth between lose and fastened back with an elastic--meaning that this video was put together from segments of at least two different takes.
Amazing soloists and orchestra.
Such an enjoyable piece and well played. So many contemporary pieces are either cartoonish or simply unenjoyable; this piece is neither. Bravo! V
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
What a beautiful sound! Awesome playing!
Whoah! Sensational!
Ricardo this is STUNNING
Magnificent!!
Magnífica obra 👏 y los solistas espectaculares!!
We were waiting for it!!! Thank you so much ❤
Me too! :P Hope you like it!
@ Simply love it!!!
@@trbnbass It is probably the piece I am more proud of! Thank you! Hope you play it some day!
whaouuu! super! Bravo Esteban et Alberto. 👍👍
I absolutely love the theme of friendship and your approach of telling the story of the friendship as an AI recreation of the deceased friend! The playing and writing are brilliant, but having innovation be the theme of the story, I kept catching myself trying to figure out what was a recreated memory and what was the friend actually experiencing. There is a depth to the dreams/memories that have been the subject of many other works, but there's a nuance of both fidelity of the memory's recreation and the juxtaposition with the surviving friend's experience. Truly remarkable - bravo sir!
Thank you John! I agree with your analysis :)
Enhorabuena Maestros🤩
I wanna become as 🅒🅞🅞🅛 as that trombonist 🥺
Me too!
Wow, amazing piece and players. Awesome!
Thank you very much!
Unreal trumpet playing
10:45 This part sounds like a Ghibli OST... TTATT

Fantastic!
Thank you!
This makes me want to play my trumpet again 🥲
Such a beautiful piece of music! Great orchestration throughout, and the larger form with transitions between the movements was very effective. Also the playing was top-notch!
Grande ese Maestro

Will definitely learn more about the musical aspect as well.
Thank you so much! 🎉😊,

On the way!
Muchas gracias Felipe!
Wow you really know how to bring out the softness of trumpet!! Several of my friends think it is only a loud and blaring instrument, I’m sharing this with them. I can also see John Williams is a big inspiration for you 😊
God sent composition! Bravo Ricardo Molla Albero!
It encourages me to listen and learn more from writing and performances of brass instruments from now on. ❤😊
Thank you very much! Every composer needs to develop his/her own language. I am happy this helps you to get inspiration to your own composing goals.
10:51 is the beginning of that great melody that brings backs some old memories.
The section in octaves between the two soloists is so powerful. Where could we obtain the score?
I hope it's registered in Apple Music Korea! awesome music!
trompettiste exceptionnel ,quelle sonorité !
10:09 - 12:41 is PURE BLISS
Thank you very much (the composer 😊).
Such an amazing sound and phrasing ❤
They are both geniuses!
@RicardoMollaAlbero
Such an amazing composition, I just realized that you composed this piece. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ awesome and very positive music. Not to mention great solousts and wonderful orchestra musicians with conductor putting very challenging and beautiful music for us to enjoy 🎉
Espectacular, bravo. Non comment 😘
Gracias Jose Vicente! :)

Awesome😵
this is very nice
Vaya solistas😅
