    Thanks man! I've flown out of Atlanta 15 years ago, but this time I'm doing it with kids! Thanks for the tips. I will definitely shoot for 3hrs ahead rather than 2. Kids in tow always slows things down. And yes, I made the mistake of getting off the train at concourse Ton my return trip!

    If you want the exact opposite of Atlanta, fly into Burbank, California. The terminal still looks like it is from a movie from the 1930's. There is no taxi way, the planes back up from the terminal on to the runway and there are no skyways, you have to go up ladders to get to the plane.

      I've also never flown through ATL. I have a connection through there in July and I'm kind of nervous about making it because it's from an International to a Domestic flight and I've had negative experiences with waiting times in customs and immigration at JFK and EWR. Hope I will make it since I have 2h42m for the connection and I'm in Business Class, so I should be first off the plane but arriving in the US is always a pain in the ass.

    I fly out once every month. It is the busiest but it’s also efficient. Especially Delta. More airlines are copying them because they’re so efficient. Only downside is there’s always construction and detour cause they’re making tons of more runways etc. I live by the airport . It’s 7 landing all at once and another 7 taking off. Every minute literally

    I lost count how many times I've gone through Atlanta airport on layovers. It's a very efficient airport. I hardly had any problems. I'll be flying into Atlanta from Amsterdam for the first time in June, connecting to Tampa. Not taking any chances, I've got close to 4 hours to go through passport control, pick up my suitcase, go through customs, drop off my suitcase, go through TSA and find my way to the connecting gate 🙂 By the time, I should be fully approved for Global Entry, which should speed things up, but I hate having to hurry 🙂 When I'm way too early at the gate, that'll give me time to grab a snack or a drink.

      How was it? I’ll arrive from Amsterdam too in two weeks. I’m traveling with ESTA, did you too? I have only 85 min to catch my connecting flight and I worry a lot about the passport check. Once I spend nearly 3h at Detroit to get trough. This is always in my head. 😬 Can you say if there is any chance that I’ll get my flight or do you have some good advices?

    • @ganymedes62
      @ganymedes62 Рік тому

      @@weltraumbummler2780 I guess it all depends on how busy things are at immigration. As I did have Global Entry, I could use the Global Entry line and was through in less than 5 minutes. The regular immigration lines were quite busy, though and I think going through those would have cost me at least 30 minutes.
      If you're travelling with checked luggage, you'll have to pick that up right after immigration and you can then drop it off again just before going through security. Security lines were almost non-existent, so going through those was a breeze.
      I was at the gate of my connecting flight a little over half an hour after I had landed. But again, Global Entry sped up my going through immigration considerably. (Global Entry is a special program that you have to apply and pay for and only makes sense if you travel to the US regularly).

    I'm going to Japan (from Chile South America) in January. I have a layover in Atlanta of 2 hours 30 mins (originally 5 hours but Delta changed the flight and reduced the layover time), I'm very worried about not making it on time for my connecting fly to Tokyo. I only travel with a carry-on, nothing checked, but those lines in immigration are endless (been there in the past but with a larger layover so I didn't worry much). Do you think less than 3 hours is enough? (my connecting flight is also with Delta). It's enough time for the outbound flight. If you connect thru ATL on the way back into the country, you definitely need at a minimum of 3 hours to make that connection as you're going through US Customs, and then TSA again. I work customer service on E recheck. You definitely need that extra time.

    • @ShowtimeTravel
      @ShowtimeTravel  4 роки тому

      You should be fine on the outbound but you may need more time on the return because you will have to recheck your bags. I hope you have global entry or TSA pre check.

    • @stephenprice3357

      I don’t have global entry, I never knew such thing existed but I’m looking into it now.

    hartsfield atlanta airport is the world's most stingy airport when it comes to air conditioning---where Airport Administrators think everybody that passes through comes from a tropical country!
    they forget passengers pay airport facility charges incorporated into every single tickets they purchase!

      @@ShowtimeTravel You make a film about the airport and you don't know that? Like how they keep expanding the airport to accommodate especially chosen concessionaires at the expense of passenger room and comfort?...and why the airport is so crowded? Try visiting Singapore's Changi airport or Amsterdam's Schiphol or the many Mid-East and Asian major airports---where you can feel that passenger comfort is the prime objective...and not merely setting up endless concessions just to cash in and/or fatten up people. And they're not cheapening on air conditioning either.
