You were doing 2 things wrong, 1 you don’t run against the wind the boat slap chases most of the crabs off before they come up. 2 run with shadow on opposite side of the boat
Trotline has become my new weekend tradition. Have been doing good in the deal island area. Last weekend was a wash out tho. Things look better this weekend
Its a snooded line, so you can lay it out tighter. Noticed crab coming up a couple times and netter not reacting, which caused a miss not a drop off. That will be corrected as you get more experience. When you see the line ahead dipping down like there is a weight on it, be prepared to see the crab on line soon. Nice video angle on running line. Head cam on netter is always best. Good job.
We just took a fishing net and took the netting off and worked some chicken wire from Home Depot on it with some wire. Nothing special. I did end up making another one much deeper. This was the first time we ever ran a trot line so a lot of things were done wrong.
Your baits are a bit to close together if you keep them about 15' apart you will get a better chance if theres lots of crabs. Also some bright color ribbon tied on the bait helps to see it coming up quicker. Just my opinion from doing it that way for years. Chicken necks work well for bait. If people ask you tellem its dog dicks they believe ya too.
Thanks for providing a good angle shot and a clear picture. Enjoyed it.

You are correct
So cool. My friends did this for a living supplying crab houses at sandgates md. There were oysters too.

Genius level crab fishing!!
That's an awesome rig you have there sir.😎
your son enjoyed him self the most i think, great stuff men.
I do some crabbing in Louisiana, just for fun and a good meal. Never seen this way before.
Best way to do it!
Nice work. A little tip, Run the line a little faster, Gives them less time to drop off. A deeper net wouldn't be a bad idea either.
You think faster? That was our first time. I thought I would need to run slower
Is this the Choptank?
Crabs don't share their food.
Because they're shellfish.
Lol

How far away from the rail do you recommend putting your line lifter? Thanks
Thanks for vid. Can you add pic or another vide showing your entire prop stick?

Sorry I don’t have that boat anymore. Now I run a Carolina skiff. I tried to see if I had a pic but couldn’t find a good pic for you.
Where did you get your bushel baskets?
Hobby Lobby
Thats not a Bushel Basket per say, its a Craft or Vegetable basket. It doesn't have the proper Breathing Slats in it and the wooded bottom

Chicken drumsticks do the trick. I zip tie them to loop knots about 10 feet apart.
Thanks for sharing.
Complimenti
Why do all you people crab between the line and the boat? If you crab outside the line you can catch the ones you missed. Don't get it.
W
You can't catch crab with the radio on
You need a new line of work
