Walking Tour of Shibati ,the auspicious pieces of the old city of Chongqing｜4K HDR

The Shibati Traditional Style Area is located at No. 1 Zhongxing Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing City, adjacent to Jiefang West Road in the south and Zhongxing Road in the north, and is located on the bank of the Yangtze River. Construction started in May 2017 and will be completed and opened on September 30, 2021.
The origin of the Eighteen Stairs is probably in the Ming Dynasty. There used to be a well here, and the nearby residents drank the water from this well. This well is just eighteen steps away from the residence of the residents. It is called "Eighteen Ladders".
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Chongqing was the gateway to Sichuan, with convenient land and water amphibious transportation, and many merchants stopped here for transit. Therefore, the area from the lower half of the city to Chaotianmen was a prosperous place at that time. At this time, the area from Shibati to the upper half of the city was relatively remote, and the military teaching ground was set up nearby. The current gate of Fudan Middle School was where the gate of the teaching ground and barracks was located at that time. With the prosperity of commerce and trade, people also began to live and work in peace and contentment in the upper half of the city, and the eighteen ladders were used as a passage connecting the upper and lower half of the city.
After Chongqing was opened as a port in 1891, Chongqing City, as a major commercial center, developed rapidly. The rapid population growth necessitated city expansion and changes to the city's infrastructure. With the demolition of city walls and road repairs, urban traffic developed rapidly, and modern highways represented by Nanqu Road and Beiqu Road began to connect Chongqing City. And after Zhongxing Road and Kaixuan Road are repaired, the Eighteen Stairs will no longer be the main passage connecting the upper and lower half of the city.
