The BenQ Monitor light bar has been the most used light bar in clean and minimal desk setups
But is it really that much better than its competitors like the Baseus monitor light bar?
Take a look at desk setups in the battlestations sub-reddit and desk setups in the instagram community and you will see evidence of its overwhelming popularity despite there being several other options out there.
When comparing the price, the light bar by BenQ comes in at $109 dollars while the Baseus is priced at $37 dollars.
Given the wide price gap,it’s fair to assume there is something the BenQ monitor light bar does that others don’t, right?
Maybe we are being copy-cats by purchasing the BenQ monitor light bar because we’ve seen them in so many cool setups?

Great comparison video, Watts! Thanks for featuring my setup. I have the BenQ screen bar plus which is a bit more expensive than the standard screen bar. I like that the plus version has the dial to easily adjust the brightness and color temperature without having to reach up to the top of my screen. I have short arms so reaching up to the top of my screen every time I want to adjust would be super inconvenient for me. 🙈

I personally own the Baseus & BenQ screen bar over a year now with heavy usage. I purchased the BenQ because of the great reviews and figured it will be a good fit for my BenQ monitors staying in the eco system but the baseus has been much better on my eyes. The BenQ after adjusting are simply too bright the only thing is that it feels more secure on the monitor and I love using the control. Trust me you not missing anything with the BenQ.

Nice Video! I have never heard of this Baseus Monitor Light Bar before. I have 2 Quntis Light Bar on 2 different setup which has very similar spec (Auto dimming and color temperature) to the more expensive BenQ. Also a third of the price of the BenQ. I like your channel!

I gave my benq to my wife and now I have no light bar. My intended to find an alternative and then take my benq back. You’re doing the lord’s work.
I’m definitely cool with just having the Baseus one for 30 something since it does everything I needed it to do. Don’t get me wrong, I still rock with BenQ for their products but the price point compared to the competition ain’t it

If only I didn’t have an old iMac. I love the way these make the desk light up. Now I’m looking at tower lights for beside the iMac instead.
I’ve seen some lights that clamp on to the desk be recommended to me on Amazon and I’ve seen them in setup pics here and there. If you’re curious, search “OTUS LED Desk Lamp for Home Office” to see what I mean

Enjoyed the comparison video. The BenQ ScreenBar definitely a meme at this point with how popular it is and how often you see in desk setup photos. It's good quality though, but it's nice you were able to show an alternative to it.

Baseus makes a lot of awesome products at great bang-for-your-buck value. I originally found the brand through the awesome chargers they make, then noticed that their batteries and so on. Very interesting brand that people are sleeping on.

Haha it's funny that you ask. This is a $10 one from Amazon. It's felt but it reminds me of the material in car trunks. It isn't the best quality like the ones from leading manufacturers but there are some good ones at competitive prices on Etsy
Neither, the Yeelight Pro Lightbar is excellent. It has a remote that works perfectly, a separate backlight. I wanted to buy the BenQ, but a friend recommended the Yeelight. My monitor has a light „hump“ on the back, but it still fits fine. It‘s great for working and gaming. My eyes are less strained! Oh, the backlight is either RGB (customizable) or normal lighting, another nice feature. Hope this helps.

I don't own an Xiaomi so I can't offer much. I'd pay attention to the mechanism of how it sits on the monitor and see if there is a pattern problem in the lower star reviews.
Baseus one slowly sags after time, returned and got the Benq. No problems yet.

Went here after receiving a reply regarding your Asus ProArt post. I guess it's safer not to put a light bar on my set up, unless I can find one where I can just put it "on" my monitor and not actually clamping it. Thank you so much for your insights!
The BenQ version is like that. It isn't putting pressure on the monitor bezel like the Baesus one but it is 3 times the cost. No problem!

@@JaizeDee Yep. That counterbalance part at the back is doing a lot of the work to keep it on the monitor. The part that rests on the monitor bezel is like a guide.
Maybe you can try flip the RK84 keyboard frame so the logo is in the backside. It'll look minimalist.

I love your approach to your video. Nice and calm and honest. That is all of us want on UA-cam. I sorry but all these shills drive me nuts. I can read right through their BS. Please do not change a thing. I know all the UA-camrs out there want hits and act like their reviews are not paid but we all know the truth. If a manufacture is giving the reviewer an item and they give a bad review they and other manufactures will not come back. We are not stupid. Well, at least most of us.

This is a great review. Question though. I have a stacked monitor layout and my second monitor is at a 45 degree angle on my desk. Would you still recommend a light bar?
I've seen a picture of someone doing it and you can adjust the orientation of the light so it doesn't hit the monitor. It's truly up to you since I don't have any experience with a setup like that.
