Since it has a sound on the drive but doesn't seem to have "bumps". is this a wheel-driven (mechanical) monorail system or a maglev-driven one ? The rail visibly has metal covered rail parts (somehow louder) - and when it goes even - concrete- portions in there.

It’s rubber tires running on the concrete/metal beamway. But apparently Hitachi were extremely good at constructing monorails by this point, so the beamway structure is very smooth, resulting in the lack of bumps.

Bad camera placement. Six inches ether way would have been superior placement. Consider what might be blocking the center of frame when placing the camera. Thank you.

So what does the driver do? There are no signals or so along the track. He/She just has to accelerate and brake?

the monorail is driving on the wrong side and the traffic below. you need to switch over like America and France. but atleast its better than the seattle monorail. it never leaves downtown

a typical snobbery from the USA. This type of movement in Japan was fixed before the emergence of Europeans in Asia. Considering the beginning of the 20th century at the end of the 19th century, it was England that actively participated in the technical development of this country, which they did not have to change in their traditions. Given that now they themselves produce cars and trains, for them it is not a problem. There are cases in the world where countries (former colonies) changed from right-side to left-side traffic. If it is convenient for them because of the presence of this type of movement in neighboring countries (also former colonies).

Surprise, saying France was a pretty odd idea since trains (with the obvious exception of trams for safety reasons) drive on left side.

Well, of course the monorail never leaves downtown, Its attached to the rail. Im sure it would like to go on a vacation, but it's got a job to do.
