This video is so helpful. I’m setting up my session right now to mix. Also from Cambridge. Thank you so so so much for this informative video on how to organize in protools.
I actually just started to get back into making these videos! I can definitely help out with vox comping, that one goes a bit more in depth with shortcuts and comping multiple takes to one track so it may take a bit for me to make but I have this suggestion on the list!
Hey awesome video! Quick question about the gain staging part ? So you gain stage every clip to negative 6 using audio suite method without rendering the clips , including the instruments and vocals ? Thank You
Just logged back in to this channel, sorry for the late response! So gain staging can be accomplished multiple ways. But essentially I gain stage everything down to a standard level that gives me a nice starting point. I gain stage every single track I have in the session before working on anything!
Great video! Quick question...If my instrumental is too loud and I wanted to clip gain down to -6db..is this how i would do it? And how did you get from a -3.7db level to -6db? How did you calculate that? Thanks again great video
Hi brother, first i want to say thanks for this helpful video , i have native pro tools 12.8.1 version , witch apple software do you highly recommend for this pro tools version , because no doubt you know that the new version ( Catalina ) is not compatible , ( sierra ! Or high sierra !! ) i mean CPU issue ! Thank's again for making this simple formative vedio 🙏
Thank you for the kind words! I am running Pro Tools 2019.10.0 on Mojave 10.14.6 and it runs very stable. I will stay on Mojave even after Catalina is stable just to make sure there are no issues upgrading. Thanks for watching!
what software do you use to screen record protools? I've tried using OBS, but I get constant DAE errors when recording the video making it impossible to actually get anything done
@@planetaryrecording4100 SHift cmd n, and keep cmd press and with the arrow you can change it ( other ctrl if you press ctr ) But I love the analyse section au audio suite thank you thats gonna help me a lot, nice video btw :)
My boi coming in clutch with the handy routing tips, you're the man!

You are the best man
You should restart mixing videos. I want to see you mix a trap or drill record
I am starting to do videos again this month! I have this added to the list! Keep your eyes out!
Thank you 🙏 learned a lot
Dang cool vid! I didn’t know you could use markers for switching between tracks. That’s gonna be killer to use on my next mixing session!
Dope video
Nazeem Amari Thanks!!

Hello,I was windering if it is possible to bring them all down in the same maner, instend of one at a time ?
Is there a particular reason you don’t use routing folders instead of an aux track?
Aux tracks are more easy for me to control, routing folders can be helpful but can also cause problems.
How can I set up this kind of template to bring in my tracked out beat and record my vocals to it and then mix it as well

I use quicktime to do the screen recording and Loopback to record the audio. Works very well for me.
