Ignoring the Canadian coach's sideshow might be an extra effort that Pangestu could really have done without. There's a guy at my club that just can't shut up who I'd really like to help to do so ! 😂

Why can’t they just put an awning over the shooting line? What’s the point of allowing archers to be soaked? Ridiculous

One reason I can think of is that it will affect the wind near the shooting line. Meaning the archers would have less "feel" about how the wind's speed and direction in the field ahead of them are. This happened in Lilleshall earlier this year where, I think, there was a building to the side of the shooting line, so the archers couldn't gauge how far off should they aim to compensate for the wind (and it was a windy day).

      They are rules.
If it is on the shooting line, it is no longer outdoor.
It may be in the team/equipment area but not where we shoot.

An awning would be a fixed feature, just like a building, so it could be taken into account by a skilled archer, plus it would be the same for both. As for ‘it’s the rules’, that’s why rules in nearly every sport are changed/updated on a regular basis. A single sheet awning, with no sides, is outside. The rules need bringing into the modern era. Just because archers have always gotten wet, doesn’t make it a sensible rule. As someone who requires glasses to shoot, I am disadvantaged by rain if my opponent doesn’t wear them. He can still see clearly, whilst my vision is blurred by water. If the world still had the ‘well, it’s the rules’ mentality, footballers would still be using balls that weigh 5 kg in the wet!!

Having the archers face tough conditions makes for more interesting matches, and brings out the skill in prepared archers.@@sage1d590
