Great trip! Where was the water baths located at 4:07 on the video?
That's a great spot up near Furnas. There's several large pools, a gift shop, showers... Worth visiting! goo.gl/maps/44T7XFYbyas
Schönes Video, aber den Ton musste ich ausschalten.
With the sound turned off it's ok.
I've always dreamt of going there one day. but I'm in a wheelchair. I wonder if it'd be to difficult.
jaclyn camacho the main center of Porta Delgada would be manageable but outside on the rural areas would be very challenging with cobblestone streets and non-existent sidewalks.
thank u for being honest.
Hello Jaclyn. I'm a local, born and raised. Although Corey is right about certain things, its not that bad. It would be like saying that disabled people don't move around here in a wheelchair. Its not true, there are plenty of disabled people here, I have some in my family and its not hard. The sidewalks are not non-existent, they are in its majority very narrow, too narrow for a wheelchair. Most people can move around in the street, the cars will go around. If you like a calm, relaxing place, Azores are the place for you to come visit. The azores have a lot to offer to you even if you have special needs. My advice for you, if you ever decide to come visit the Azores, is to call local tourism companies and ask them about their services for people in special needs.
jaclyn camacho yes plan it book it. Someone can drive you. Live your life. And enjoy my love. I am there in October. Cannot wait.

I was born in Acores not the Azores. I guess that's who I, "Joao" became John. Strange.....

Name hotel?
It's Açôres! That's the name of the Arquipélago. And you know why is AÇÔRES?Because is the name of the Bird of Prey called in Portuguese, Açôres. A Bird of Prey that We found in the Islands when they were discovered. And we found many. So, the islands were called AÇÔRES.
"azores" means Nothing!
Planning a trip here, what activities do you recommend?
Sarah Engler just enjoy the nature and breeth
Açores
Es muy caro eso
how much does it cost to rent a car there?
dynamiteCAE that depends on so much, size of car, type of insurance, length of stay, high season/low season..... Best check online booking sites.
But how is the cost living , mainly the Renting of a comfortable apartment,
What are the price ranges and the food cost ? Thanks ..
The cost of living is ok. Check in booking.com/ trivago for the prices for the youth hostels and small hotels. If travelling in a group, pays off to rent a whole apartment/house, and cook at home. A meal in a normal restaurant (buffet) costs between 10-15€. When going to the supermarket, the food prices are equivalent to those in mainland Portugal, the toiletries are more expensive. There is not much public transport, so it would be necessary to rent a car. Overall the cost of living is not high for european standards.
Yo m

where the name? no name only video
The video is from many different places in Portugal.
Many stupid people get swept off rocky shore by surprise wave
A volcanic island in the middle of the ocean. There is a lot of earthquakes here. I do not want to live there.
I don't think you have a good understanding of how plate tectonics works. Of course if you feel unsafe, try Gaziantep? You're from Turkey I'm guessing.
Not true very rare. It's not like Hawaii.
Good video, could do with less driving scenes though. Choice of music bad, to noisy.

Some parts very beautiful. Music mostly awful - also too much road too many times - pointless!
The WATER is very dirty
If you mean that the water is red/brown in some cases, it is not about dirt. It is about ferrum.
A volcanic island in the middle of the ocean.
Can the volcano explode again? No, I do not think so. If the volcano goes down,
where are people going to run? Is there a plan, preparation? I do not know.
Frequent earthquakes! Everything is very expensive. Not a place to live, I don't like it.
The last volcanic eruption that disturbed the local life was in the 1950s, it caused material damages and many people had to emmigrate but, as far as I know, did not cause deaths. The volcanism in most islands is not violent, that means that a volcanic eruption would not be very quick and it would be possible to evacuate people. The island with the potential most violent volcanism is heavily monitored by the local university. When in the past there were signs of dangerous gas emmissions, people were immediately evacuated. There is an entire Civil Protection organization prepared to act in case of natural disasters. The last large earthquakes that caused significant damages were in 1998 and 1980. The houses were rebuilt with much better/ modern structures, so they are not so dangerous presently. I went through the 1998 earthquake, people were scared, but the authorities acted quickly, help poured in from every island (I saw the giant boxes with food sent by people in another islands), tents were set up for people that had lost their houses, and then these people were given small prebuilt homes while the houses were rebuilt. If there is a natural disaster, the solidarity between people is strong enough to help those in need. We grow up understanding that there is a risk inherent to where we live, and we help eachother out when necessary. I've never felt the same solidarity spirit in other place. "Everything is very expensive" - compared to what? Local people often choose to live in small older houses outside the town center, but with access to a garden where they can grow food, raise chickens etc. People can also fish. People trade crops/ share with their neighbors. I grew up in a household where both parents worked full time jobs, and then everyone (kids included) worked in the garden / vineyards to maintain the family land / supplement income. We traded days of work between neighbors to help each other out in the land, we would give away fruit to our neighbors/ friends (figs, grapes, oranges...), my grandmother would give away meat (pig/ cow) and homemade bread. I've lived in other places and now live in Germany, but honestly I do not know a better place to raise a family than in the Azores.
