I really appreciate seeing the aatoolkit calculator in another of your videos.
I'm just a beginner (S6, 13 games total), but have a very positive Win ratio both sides (8G/62%W Axis, 5G/60%W Allies) due to watching/learning from videos like this.
Used the calculator last game to take on 3I, 2T, 1AA, 2F in India with 3A/2I, 4F, 2BS, 1C and won (as the calculator said I should) with 1A/3F left (took F as last casualty to win the ground). Most exciting battle for me yet (in a KJF game, where my German tank stack of 8 and 3I ended up in Persia!). Weird move but it certainly confused my opponent (threatening India/Africa/retake Caucasus), of course had scads of I in France/Germ to hold there.
Vis-a-vis subs, your tip on Defensive Profiles is right on. It may be obvious (to experienced players) but I also look at a potential defensive battle as to whether I want to take the subs as cheap fodder, protecting more valuable assets (not set them to submerge). This has won me a couple of close ones too. But definitely for isolated subs, submerge is key!
One last tip for newbies --- don't always go by the 'in game' battle predictor. It told me my India attack was 'Implausible' when the toolkit told me I had a high 90% chance of victory. It will also say "implausible' when you attack transports with subs in their hex via planes -- I presume because it doesn't expect you to sink the sub too :)
Thanks again for putting in the time to teach us newbies how to play better!

I wish I saw this video when I began playing over a month ago going over a dozen games vs the AI, although I won everyone against the simpleton AI, I had to learn the hard way about much what you brought out in this video! Me thinks it's unmanly to use a Battle Calculator, however I do use a common household calculator to determine the Hit points from each side of combat and go with the favorable odds on whether to go for it or not!!!

Turns out, efficient logistics and good intel still wins wars, even simulated ones :3

Yes! As Scar said I also love that you will be doing strategy videos again. I await the one for the Soviet Union

Anyone know if you can use Transports to soak hits in naval combat? or do they always just die last?

    • @manix429

They always die last, as they're classed as non-combatants I believe.

the buttom stats in "Profile" is Custom not 1st season tho :)

Its a combination of Custom and ranked play. They lumped in everything that happened before Season 2 into that category for some reason ha.

In my experience, the US can usually move the two transports with the four ground units in the Eastern USA and take Morocco in Round 1. However, nearly every time I do this, Germany sends planes over and wipes out my transports (and that is even if I send the destroyer to protect them). Do you think the US should send the ground units anyway, knowing that both transports and the destroyer will be wiped out? Or should the US build some more naval forces to further protect the transports and wait until Round 2 to invade Morocco?

Oops! You answered that question later in the video. Sorry...I posted the question early in the video.

I think the US should wait for a round, build ships to protect the transports and then move. Then you can reuse those transports + save yourself 14 IPC worth of rebuilding.

You may be able do this in conjunction with the UK. If the Germans leave the Cruiser and/or Battleship alive on G1, on UK 1, the UK can move all their sea units to SZ 13 and bring bring any land troops to land on Gibraltar or attack Morocco. This means you can move the Americans with the two transports to North Africa and land a fighter in the area, as well. This gives you a strong position from which to threaten the Med, defend Egypt, pressure Italy, maybe even swing into Caucasus, etc.
This is not my preferred strategy, but if the Germans give you the opening, the Americans landing troops safely in North Africa in round one can be devastating.
      Good hunting!
