Hank Brown was a flat-out stud. As Danny Kanell said about the pared down playbook for a new QB, "sometimes smaller actually is better."
UNretire the jersey numbers, I've been a Auburn Fan for 60 Years and i love what Kyle said, Use those numbers as a recruiting tool
Personally if we have the chance to sign a top 5 QB and all we have to do is give him #2. We'd be idiots not to do so, Cam had one of the best seasons ever in the NCAA. Most exciting play i had witnessed since Caddy and Ronnie at Auburn anyways.
I personally think it would be awesome to watch #2 and would without a doubt boost whoever wears #2 confidence out of this world.
Keep numbers retired. Respect the history of your school.
@@auchaplainfci8336 yep.
Yes , I totally agree with that, don't forget the # 88 is also retired as well, R.I.P. Terry Beasley.
@@bigunlittle7154 I’m old. I remember Sullivan to Beasley. I always thought Beasley’s number should have been retired a long time ago.
@@auchaplainfci8336 It has been retired not sure when, but I'm kinda old fixing to be 58 , and I don't remember any player that wore # 88 . Don't know if they officially retired the number but I don't remember any player that's wore that number.
@@bigunlittle7154 I’m 63. I don’t remember if anyone had worn that number either.
I definitely think it impacts recruiting. Recruits need to see improvement from that position to feel comfortable with the staff at AU
New mexico is ranked the 2nd worst defense in fbs behind kent state.
I’m with Charlie5 on this one. Retired numbers are dumb to me. Do need a threshold for who can wear them though. Can’t have some scrub in 34 but what better way to honor those players by a good player wearing his number.
Yeah I don’t understand the retired numbers based off one great players Heisman. If you have 3 or 4 players with #2 who all win Heismans let them come to an agreement to retire the number. But just one guy who wore that number and played great so we’re gonna retire that number so nobody else can have it??? Nah..
Add a stipulation that if you don't live up to the legacy you can lose the number
What # do you think deuce knight what's to wear? Possibly 2?
I say unretire the numbers but 2,7, and 34 should have a special patch added to them and they should only be given to captains or players that have earned them.
No. Tradition is important. No un-retiring Jersey numbers
Unretire the jersey numbers but have the numbers be symbolic like LSU’s #7
So you think Auburn should unretire Bo Jackson's #34??
@@joshknox2410 read my comment again
I agree with you Charlie Kyle Five Rush. A number doesn't have to be retired to be revered. We could honor those numbers as 'special reserve' and award them to only a select few. We can get Bo and Cam and Pat's family involved. We could have game day events devoted to each of the numbers. There are numerous ways to keep the honor and prestige of those "retired" numbers intact. And if a number on a jersey contributes to successful seasons, it's a pretty small price to pay. I'm with you all the way, C5. War Eagle!
I read a Google article that said Deuce Knight was injured last Friday night, September 13. What was his injury? The article didn’t state his injury.
I’m with you C5. Retire the number but honor the player by getting to choose who wears it year to year.
I really want to see WW get some action
Defense is going to be the question. But I think Dirken fixes it. His 3-3-5 defense works just have to blitz more early. A ton of missed tackles this past Saturday made it look even worse than it is. He does use a 4 man front and may have to swap to that with what he currently has available on the roster especially with the thinness in the CB room. Got to give them some help.
This videos made for me and I'm just now watching it lol.
Im never offended, but i would be so ridiculously offended to see someone running out onto the field wearing #34!
The only way it can is in a positive manner. It shows the coaches are willing to make changes
Unretire numbers and use them to recruit all day baby, I’m with Kyle, using your previously great players to bestow greatness on a new generation would be awesome
Looking at things that translate: Hank reads coverage, has the feel in the pocket, ball placement wrs get yrds after catch, eye candy. Hank Brady fr
34 should never be unretired
Best case scenario is for Bocephus to ball out this year and next, and then go get drafted in the first 3 rounds
What’s the problem we need a mobile quarterback I don’t if Hank will be able to run enough but if he gets the ball out of his hands maybe he ll succeed I pray he balls out against Arkansas!!
When did we start this!??? I thought we had a number 2 since Cam left.?? Someone please tell me.
Depends on if the recruit wants to start year one.
He can always come in and earn the starting spot. That goes for any position.
War Eagle baby!!!
I’m on the fence with the whole number 2 thing I mean he’s gotta point with the recruit Weapon, but at the end of the day if someone does wear 2 an is a bust it kills the spirit or vibe of it all completely then after that it means nothing.
On3 said in a video yesterday our offense was awful last Saturday lol
The longer Duce Knight waits, the less positive regard his final commitment will create at AU.
I will be the first to admit I am that fan that is concern if you bring in another QB the other would leave. Just being honest about it.
Lots of teams do the number thing. Florida could have retired number 1 several times. Lsu does it as well.
7 i agree. Pat was the goat.
Cam was great i liked him but he was a 1 and done. He throws shade at Auburn all the time. So i agree with Kyle . If they want the no. 2 let them have it.
What shade did he throw?
Ameris Williams could go both ways right? He’d probably be a great tight end as well.
Zac can you get Hank back on the show?
Travis will have his guys ready.
Where did Kyle get that hat? I’ve got know!
It's really JABA to worry that we can't play too well or it's going to hurt recruiting.
I get the logic behind the QB. But u can't compare it to stacking at other positions. Only 1 QB plays per season, barring injury. If u got a 5 star in front of u and behind u, it matters to a QB recruit. Y'all not off, but u can't ignore that reality.
Seams to me I remember when juju was a target, for recruiting,a selling point was Thorne was on his last year. Now Hank is a freshman starting and it has no impact on recruiting a quarterback Which is it?
I have never understood retired numbers
Jaden Muskrat was a defensive end his whole football career until college. Even before winning all of his awards for offensive lineman he was a defensive end and only played offense because his HS team lost a lineman.
I wish they would let Jaden play on the defensive line!
Ark fan here. Razorbacks are not a good football team. Cal would take the hawgs to the woodshed. New Mexico may be a little better then arkie in the trenches. Lots of folks pulling for auburn to smoke the old hawgs so another nail will be in sam pittsman coffin. The man is a mess. Auburn 54 hawgs 10😂😂
USC has 7 or 8 heisman winners. Oklahoma & Notre Dame also have 7. Ohio state has 6 or 7 winners. Alabama has 4. Auburn, Florida, FSU, Army all have 3.
So like lsu a player has to earn the number every year. I don’t get the retire jersey numbers. Shit like that is how you stay mid. Like not having alternative uniforms. May be a reason Auburn isn’t good being stuck in the past especially when most wasn’t alive when 7 was retired.
You betta not let them hear you speak on a uniform change. It's tradition 😂😂
Retired numbers makes it looks like a player is bigger than the game
For once I agree with Kyle. Un-retire them numbers!
I’m truly tired of the deuce knight talk, let’s get a QB that wants to be at Auburn.
Seems Duece is trying to squeeze more money out of Auburn. Let him go somewhere else
Why on Earth would they unretire 2,7, or 34 that was the worst take I’ve ever heard on this show…then tries to act like theirs so many school with multiple heisman winners theirs 4 schools ahead of Auburn
I disagree as well. Keep numbers retired.
Wait... I missed where we retired #2...
Bad take on the jersey numbers Charlie 5
Retired numbers and not having alternative uniforms are the kind of ideas that don't help in recruiting.
Only thing worse than un-retiring jersey numbers are alternative uniforms
@@sw3090 K cool. Hey what did dinosaurs look like?
I'm all for us going with alternate uniforms for special/big games. But I respect the retired numbers.
alabama usc and michigan is the only schools with more than 3 heisman
Is ROY the brand Elijah McAlester created?
We should beat Arkansas, but you can't overlook Petrino.
Zack will you agree that year in the bowl gane against Maryland. Hank was miles better then Payton. I liek freeze and believe he is our coach but he has to see the writing onbthe wall sometimes.
Don’t just put that out there ab Cam lol go listen to his show he has actually SAID that if the recruit was LIKE THAT he might dust it off and give it to them
I’m with C5 let them use retired jersey numbers
Why is Auburn & Oklahoma game not a night game 🤦🏾♂️
They want us to lose😂
@@pluggdn4443 😂 must do Mann
Did you learn nothing from the excessive overhyping of Payton Thorne after the AAMU game? Hank Brown had a "stellar" game against a 0-3 UNM that lost to Montana State and you are acting like he is the truth. Maybe wait until he does it against better competition (not sure garbage time against Maryland counts either) before doing deep dives on how he will impact future QB recruiting.
Downtown Hank Brown!
The Baby Goat 🐐
"garbage time"
Interesting overused narrative that is inaccurate in this case,
This kid is playing beyond his years, it's evident if you pay attention to what he's actually doing out there,
sky's the limit,
War Eagle!
Hahahaha shut up dude
Thank you.
@@hunterbelue4346amen
@@AU88 you and Doc should join the Ebenezer club
Love Cam but was he really an Auburn man? Pat Auburn con, Cam was a shooting star. Use the number!
How do you question that? He won the Heisman. He won us a Natty. He came back AFTER going pro and graduated. He comes back to the games. What else he gotta do?
17:38 because you’ve never played ball
Facts
Hank Brown was going to Liberty before this job fell in Freeze’s lap. He’s not an elite QB. The fact that he didn’t stink it up against *New Mexico* doesn’t mean he’s an SEC player.
Exactly. Let’s take a breath. What he’s about to see is a bigger faster athlete than anyone NM had. Everyone might be in for a rude awakening. We’ll see
Apparently you don't watch tape enough to see that what Hank did Saturday translates to the SEC, he's looking off receivers and throwing dimes to the opposite side of the field, this take will self destruct Saturday afternoon,
War Eagle!
And nevermind the fact that he always gets ball out in 2 seconds...and thanks OBI WAN 88, don't know what we'd do without you
@@autk Against one of the historically worst D-1 programs in the country.
@@autk How badly did you predict we’d beat Cal?
I agree they should be unretired and the team should vote on the special numbers
Slow your horses down give Hank B 3 games in SEC and let’s pray he performs well and no if he’s successful it want affect future Qb signee’s
I think you should retire the number until the person dies. If the person is living, ask them if it’s ok…Hey Cam Newton, Duece Knight wants your number can he have it? If he says yes, done. If he says no, then no.
I agree with Charlie 5!!
Who else just learned that charlie5's name is kyle?
Cunningham to Auburn Ryan Williams to transfer to Auburn
as good as hank done in the game i just dont understand how payton was better in practice hank read the defense and check downs
Please tell me why we’re acting like we found a generational talent in Hank when he beat New Mexico…..
Hank had a great game and everyone is excited about it.WHY NOT? When we have something good happen let's crow about it. If Hank can get rid of the ball that quick the dl can't sack him
Thorne also looked great against a garbage defense. Look at what happened the next game. I’m just saying let’s wait and see what he can do against better talent. I’m all about getting exited. I’m just sick of being let down.
Unretire the numbers. What if JuJu wanted #2?
Un-retire the jersey numbers. It's more important to get new talent than keep the jerseys retired.
I agree with Kyle. it's just a number. people wore those numbers after until they got retired. make it a big deal, dont gloss over it but make it available for the right situation.
If Hank gets the job done, who cares? He's only started one game, so pump the breaks. Freeze and staff recruits not hank
I think players should be able to wear whatever number they want to who cares if it's retired or not as long as that person who wore it before them is ok with it
Cobb should be RB2
Over DA, nah
Alston needs more carries not Cobb
I actually agree with Charlie 5 regarding retired jerseys. If it helps in recruiting then CAM & Bo need to get over themselves!
If a kid won’t come because of a damn jersey number he’s not the type of person you want in your team anyway
Ryan Williams
I don’t care about the number 2, give it to whoever!
@@m.h0656 yep. And it hasn’t been officially retired anyway.
Did you just say you don't read the comments? lol Well anyway, I think using retired numbers as a recruiting tool is an awesome idea.
If the difference in getting a top 3 recruit is the fact they’re attached to 2, 7, or 34??? Hell yes unretire that joker!!!!
I agree with Kyle on the retired numbers… entirely.
duece should have 2 if he comes so much swag
If your sole reason to commit to Auburn is a jersey number, I don’t want you on my team
Deuce Knight in the No.2
RBU? Lol
Unretire the numbers.
Hank could look mediocre Saturday so some of us need to pump the brakes a little bit
Keep them retired. No one will ever be what those players were and are for AU.
Lol
Auburn still needs a portal QB transfer
Retiring a players jersey is one of, if not the highest, honor a team, program, and organization can bestow on a player. This goes for college and the NFL. You want a recruiting tool? If you come and succeed at the level as these past players, your number and likeness will be forever coveted by the Auburn family. When Auburn has a problem with not having enough numbers to go around because so many players balled out l, then we can talk about it. Until then, GTFO with this nonsense
This ark game comes down to two factors.
1. Can Hank perform at the p4 level.
2. Can the defense rush the passer and get him down.
You can win ugly if only one of those things are true though.
Awful take, keep cams number retired. Charlie always has the all time bad takes.
A one-and-done shouldn’t have his number retired OR have a statue.
Depends who it is. Cam brought a championship to Auburn for the first time in 50 years and won the Heisman. Of course they're going to honor a guy like that.
Unless you’re Cam Newton and one of the if not the best QB in college football history and single handily won us a national championship
CAM was the greatest auburn player and probably to best college ever. He earned that statue and to have his jersey retired.
Another horrific take but it's pretty funny tho
@@theweakestlink2278 He was a mercenary. And apparently his new job is “walking sperm bank.” Eight kids by three women, none of whom he bothered to marry.
No thanks.
Keep the numbers retired!!
I think Arkansas will beat us. We really can’t stop the run. Brown will be fine at QB. Our defense isn’t that good.
Ok gatekeeper of opinions thanks for negativity!
@@autk I hope I’m wrong. It’s better to be realistic about our situation than to think everything is fixed. We’ll get there but it takes time. I’m still hoping we win.
@@auchaplainfci8336 sorry, that comment was meant for Padgett, he knows it, I don't understand folks that want to be negative about the change to Hank or that have given up on our defense, we're winning Saturday, War Eagle!
