Sports games and garbage have been inextricably linked since they began producing the identical ones year after year with little to no differentiation or competition.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. 2k and EA sports have a monopoly on the NBA and NFL licenses respectively, and they genuinely don't care about proper quality control nowadays. As long as it sells millions of copies, who cares if some people are upset, right? I'll be completely honest and say I'm not the biggest sports games person, it's just not my preferred genre of video games. The only sports games I typically play are Mario sports games, but I dabbled in Madden at my friend's house and at church meetings. But even I am in Shock and Awe when these modern sports games release in unfinished, even broken states and I'm left pondering why people keep buying games from these franchises. Granted, this is more of a problem with the current industry as a whole, where some companies/developers purposely leave content or features out of the game and the people that bought the game think to themselves "Don't worry guys, they'll patch it in later. Nothing to be worried about." It's especially horrible for series like COD and any modern sports games franchise where their parent companies believe that they have to put out a new game every single year. You could get away with this during the 90s-2000s when updates weren't all that common, but with the current technology we have now, that business model isn't necessarily that sustainable. For people that enjoy these sports games franchises, I hope companies like 2K and EA wake up and give you something genuinely worthwhile, but I'm just going to stick with Madden 08 and Fifa 14.
@BUPMY1 Honestly, you're right. They're not exclusive to 2k and the NFL license is exclusive to EA, but Idk how far that reaches. So other companies can make games for the NBA and NFL, but I believe the problem is that they either don't have that tight relationship with those licenses as EA and 2k do, or the people behind those projects aren't sure how to make their game different enough, to where people don't group it up with the industry ponies of those licenses. I.E. to make a distinction drastic enough so that most people don't say: "Oh, it's just another Madden" "or another NBA2k." I'm not sure how that process actually works since I'm not part of a big development team, but I imagine it's easier said than done in that particular aspect, creatively.
You're right, all that really needs to happen is another company has to make a basketball game, charge like 20 or 30 less dollars for it, and just have all of the basketball related stuff in it and nothing else. A lot of people would give it a chance solely based on the fact that it's cheaper. And then there you go, rivalry ensues
All facts. I've been saying this for many years. At the end of the day, it's just basketball and football. Touchdowns, jukes, punts, 3 pointers, and crossovers. You can't deviate too much from that. A roster update. Something else I've been saying to my friends.

If you look at just exhibition games In this game it's near on perfect in my opinion. It looks amazing and plays amazing. I never play anything other than exhibition and I absolutely love it. Just my opinion.
I don't think he played the whole game and actually dived into the game modes like "my era" where you can play an dynasty with created and expansion teams. Everything else I definitely agree with for sure.
All sports games have been unfun since the beginning of PS4, ONE. The fun is no longer there in sports games. Start up a 360 or ps3 sports game it can be fun as heck. Stockholm syndrome have modern gamers accepting of the trash.
Agree. In the old days when sports games used to be good. There were multiple franchises for these types of games. All buying for your dollar. Whether it be Tennis, Cricket, Golf, Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Football, Baseball, Boxing, Wrestling, Skateboarding, Surfing, Motor sport ETC. With each company trying to outdo each over. These days there is usually only one company for each sports franchise and they expect us to pay premium prices when not much effort and change has been put into each new yearly release.
I couldn't agree more. I haven't bought 2K in 3 or 4 years because of the way the implement the VC. I hate that I buy it for a single player experience and if I want to do a career mode, if I want to progress my character at any decent rate, I have to buy VC. They tie the career mode character to the VC by making it so you can use the character in both career mode and their stupid MyPlayer online mode. I wish there was an option to progress at a better rate and declare the character an offline character. But, they'd lose a few cents.
I remember when 2k was $29.99. Y'all paying 60 dollars plus for just roster upgrades and stat improvements. Charging people that amount to play the same game year after year is criminal.
The fact people are paying FULL PRICE for this game, then an extra $100 to create a myplayer for online is mind bogglingly dmb. 🤷🏾♂️

The solution is very easy. Stop buying and stop playing the game. No use whining of lack of competition because EA just stinks. Refrain from giving 2K your money. Find another game to play.
You're "tired of it". Well, stop playing those games then. I haven't played an NBA Game since 2K12.
I gave up on this series back in 2015. Stop buying them and I guarantee that they will make the best basketball game ever.
I'll have to disagree in general yes sports games are trash however NBA did a good job this year can't say the same for FIFA soccer which is absolute garbage so I can't agree with this NBA 24 wasn't good it was terrible 25 is probably the best one I've ever played so I don't understand why this guy is hating on it
I want NHL for the Switch
I abandoned NBA2K when the story mode was only accessible if you have an internet connection. But as well once they shut down the server you also lose access. So that’s another reason why abandoned this series.
This is why I love you. I’m 30. Loved sports games. Mid 2000s was peak. NFL 2k5 is the goat. NBA live 05 is amazing. And they have fucked it. And I’m glad you are a sports gamer fan too and get it. I loved 2k10,11,12, and 13. After that, it started to fall
I just wish sports games would simplify, I don’t need a million options in every aspect
You can challenge soon as it happens call timeouts but your perspective is on point
Lost all credibility when you said you don't have to grind and you can buy your way to the top. That's not true. Now if you have rebirth, then you can go as high as your highest rating. Also, you can definitely still create a roster.
You are paying 60, wait 70$ for a yearly dlc
this is well needed 💯
The shot meter arrow and lack of control of your player during dribble animations is making me Rage. And ive been playing 2k since Dreamcast. Theyre breaking my 💔
I was really hoping for a Veilguard video from you today. Hopefully later this week..
You could at least show some of the things you're complaining about. You said you played games back in the day. They didn't have my player mode. You don't have to play it now if you don't want.
RGT realizing something that has been happening for years. Can’t wait for the 2k26 reviews.
Yeah the lack of competition is one of the issues.
People can still make a basketball game unlike football. 2k beat out nba live fare and square.
Next Year's NBA 2K video title:
"NBA 2K26 Is GARBAGE And I'm Tired Of It!"
I remember when 2k was $29.99. Y'all paying 60 dollars plus for just roster upgrades and stat improvements. Charging people that amount to play the same game year after year is criminal.
You can create team in MyNba that’s pretty in depth and expand league. there is dunk and 3pt contest in that mode also (dunk contest sucks)
Only sports games worth playing these days is Mario golf and Nintendo switch sports
I miss NBA live… It was great back in the early 2000’s
once you said u been around since Lakers/Celtics Jordan/Bird 💪 damn im old lol
The NBA 2k players/fans = COD players/fans....they all complain about this every year, but keep buying it 😄
The exact same applies to FIFA. It's the only football game left.
