I love watching Rachel's rants because 1) it's fun and 2) I don't wanna read these books but still wanna know about them because FOMO. But I do feel kinda bad that she had to read all these awful books lol
I look up rant reviews because I find them enjoyable and sometimes they help me decide if I should invest my time into a book. 9 times out of 10 I watch them because of how funny some of y'all are when it comes to reviewing bad books.
I never understand these types of comments unless left by like a child. It just sounds so weirdly defensive. To critique things well you have to love something about the art form. You constantly compare the books you're dragging to books that you thought pulled something off better or handled something better plus you do have positive book reviews on the channel and on your reading profile. It just seems like they miss that stuff on purpose.
I feel like I’ve screwed with my algorithm because I will not watch positive book reviews for fear of spoilers (I am unreasonably averse to spoilers) So I watch lots of negative review videos so I don’t have to read those books (cuz I still want to know all about it) but then the only thing UA-cam shows me is stuff in the drama sphere A little bit of a positive is that if all I watch from a creator is what they hate, I can usually tell what they will like (and if I will agree with them)
If you stick around this channel you see the positive reviews and stuff that you like, but I bet a lot of the initial video recommendations are of the fun negative reviews of stuff like Fourth Wing and CoHo 😆
Negativity sells. Even in your negative reviews you talk about aspects of books that you do like. I don't watch your content consistently but I already have a basic idea of what you see as a good book. You like consistency, depictions of healthy relationships, communication between characters, and shadow magic. And that's just the stuff off the top of my head
I honestly try and stay away from sad or hateful stuff, so I’m sorry if I’ve passed one of your videos before I started retraining it to give me happiness. I am a sucker for the reading reddit posts stuff, so I’ve had to retrain it to ignore that for my shorts because it started getting too depressing and I want to see nerdy stuff and books, which are not completely separate things
To be fair, I think the big problem is that whenever I’ve seen you talk about books that you like you usually keep it in videos that primarily consist of another book or revolving around a certain topic. Like I wanted to learn about your thoughts on Legendborn but you only talked about it for like a minute when it came to YA
I do have to search down your positive reviews and I don't think you have very many compared to the negative ones. I know they don't do as well but I don't think it's always the users fault for not seeing them. Love all your reviews regardless.
I still think you should set up a video as a rant review for furyborn or even the later Ember books but it’s all sarcasm and you’re rant-loving it lol😈
It's that the algorithm is more likely to show negative content vs positive content. Unfortunately controversy grabs our attention more.
yup!!

Don’t feel bad! I like my job 😃 I’m always reading something ridiculous and something good to balance it out at the same time.
@@ReadswithRachel glad to know you also get to read what you enjoy, not only ridiculousness
It’s not like you have a playlist called “Books I Like” or anything 😂

Yeah I have limited time im not wasting it on a subpar Reylo/twilight fanfic In a trench coat😭
Such a self-own: I wallow in negativity and am too lazy
to investigate--but what's wrong with YOU 😂

You never gotta say sorry for passing over any videos! Life is short, watch what makes your brain feel good ❤️
But... I hear you mentioning books you liked and would recommend instead of what you reviewed in a negative review ALL THE TIME?????? Like what????
Exactly this, I've read a few books recommended during a negative review for a lesser book.
I try to avoid books I'll have to add to my TBR so I prefer the negative reviews. 😅
Totally valid!

Omg you took the words from my mouth. Have you tried scrolling? 😂❤
screw the algorithm my audible is thriving because of positive reviews by you
I love your reviews! I’ve read so many books that you’ve gushed about, because you reviewed them so positively!
OOF. This is the equivalent of "I never click on these links, but I keep seeing ads of 'hot young singles in your area' and I don't know why."
