In the beginning of the play, the description associated with Macbeth allows the audience to paint a picture of his traits and characteristics. Aspects such as ‘brave’ ‘valiant’ and ‘noble’ are all present, suggesting Macbeths loyalty to his country, and more notably his king, both of which serve as his initial ambition. Furthermore, the lexical sphere of dominance and presentation of a fearless warrior in the captains speech immediately intrigues the audience, as Shakespeare induces an atmosphere of indestructibility around Macbeth. To add to that, Shakespeare artfully constructs Macbeth to reveal an underlining truth about him when he ‘Unseamed him from the nave to the chaps, and fixed his head upon our battlements’ demonstrates powerful images which subtly hints at Macbeths capability to destroy anything in his path. The graphic verb ‘unseamed’ is interesting, as it creates an image of Macbeths animalistic nature, as he rips people apart as though they are completely inferior compared to him. This conveys his ability to become emotionless when committing evil deeds such as murder. Shakespeare effectively displays how Macbeth achieves his current ambition in order to foreshadow how the protagonist will use the mind of a warrior/animal rather than a kings, to achieve his future ambitions.
Furthermore, Shakespeare repeatedly uses the motif of jumping throughout Macbeths speech. This is exemplified in the several instances where he says “that is a step on which I must fall down, or else over leap”, another “we’d jump the life to come” and “vaulting ambition.” The verb “vaulting” suggests that Macbeth is willing to jump over anyone in his way, regardless of status or royal blood, in order to achieve his ambition. Furthermore, the constant notion of jumping alludes to Macbeths intention to “cheat” his way up the “chain of being”, to become king not only by regicide, but also by deception, framing Duncan’s servants for the kings death.
As the play progresses, the consequences of subtly displaying such characteristics such as blood-thirst and murderous intent become evident, when Macbeth commits the regicide of King Duncan. During his soliloquy, The Protagonist admits that ‘to know my deed, twere best not know myself’ demonstrating that this act of murder has confirmed to Macbeth the evident flaws within his characteristics. The protagonist has given in to his innate desires to kill and murder, he is completely filled with bloodlust and demonstrates a psychopathic attraction to destruction and spilling blood. This is interesting to the audience, as at the beginning of the play, Macbeth is also subtly hinted to show a brutal and animalistic intent to kill when he ‘unseams’ his enemies ‘from the naves to the chaps.’ By Shakespeare constructing this individual to show a lack of character development within his actions and characteristics, the writer exemplifies the dangers of holding such ambitions and disobeying god by cheating the chain of being, as it can lead to madness and psychopathic behaviour.
    ||| for the paragraph above, it can also serve as a reaction from Macbeth to the supernatural, as it is the supernatural, that causes him to give in to his innate desires to murder and kill.
Like are the start, they are a lot of religious references the simplest one being Macbeth works for the king, the king is from God. Macbeth works for God. Contrast to the end of they play where Seyton is homophonus (sounds the same as another word) to Satan. The symbolic being of hell, this shows his changed as he
metaphorically is working with the devil yet also is the devil's master. And Macbeths
arrogance is shown when he doesn't listen to his advice demanding "mine Armour" while Seyton replies "tis not needed yet", as he doesn't listen to him which envitibly (I'm not getting spag marks) leads to his death. Shows his arrogant ways a trait linked directly with masculinity.
