    Proud child-free auntie here, and I try to ask questions instead of spew unsolicited advice if somebody’s talking to me about it. I have noticed that some of us “outsiders” can see a train wreck coming because we’re not as emotionally attached as the parents, but I know the general opinion is that non-parents’ advice is generally not respected by parents. I get, “Why didn’t you say something?!?!? 😠” when it’s too late. 🤷‍♀️

    Having a child doesn’t make you an expert on children though. Plenty of people lack intelligence and having children won’t change that. The issue is that a lot of parents just want to whatever they want to do and they don’t want to hear anything about it. I’ve had parents try to tell me off for telling them to hold their 2 year olds hand when crossing a busy highway and they didn’t have the light 🤦🏽‍♀️

    This is one of the best things I have ever heard Jess say. We need more black people in S.T.E.A.M. It is hard being the only black person in the room all the time. But we also have to celebrate academics the same way we celebrate athletics. Good topic.

    • @janedough6410
      @janedough6410 16 днів тому

      The topic is deeper than the surface. A lot of the success depends upon parental involvement and individual student desire. The average black child won't have the opportunity due to educational disparities. However if the student is willing to learn independently, no telling what they can achieve.

    I hate it when someone tries to put themselves above you to give you advice you didn’t ask for. They’re not trying to help they just like feeling superior. Now if you have doctor or ceo in your title then bring the advice on but if we are coworkers please shut up until you become my boss. You give advice to your children you leave adults to deal with the consequences of their actions unless it’s life or death.
