We went one bank holiday but the weather was a bit pants. Lots of small boats creating waves so it was a bit more choppy than in your video. One thing I can't remember if you mentioned but the water is fairly shallow near the first car park, you have to go out fairly far to be deep enough that if you fall in (like I did) and don't smash yourself on the lake bed.
I left early so it was still calm at the beginning. It was pretty windy after I turned to go up the length of the lake, one of the reasons I stopped for a cuppa and food when I did! I was struggling against the wind. Calmed down again after though! Good point about the shallows, tho it can be plus as well as a downside!
