I know Van Gogh was more than a bit sideways mentally, but I think his stringy brush strokes are exhausting.

don’t be discouraged!! to be honest, i get frustrated and less confident in myself all the time when im in an art block, or someone is a fantastic artist, because they’re so much better. but just because they’re better, doesn’t mean you can’t improve. the artists you idolize didn’t become like that overnight. if they’re good, it just means you can get good too! keep arting, dear friend ♥️

I loved this! Really great hint about the tannish background - I would've chosen a navy and then wondered why it came out so dark.

Thank you! Great tutorial. Didn't hold my hand too much, but gave a general idea of what direction to go. Like the emphasis on the short strokes really helped me, and the planning with white paint especially. I had a school assignment for a famous painting and I had to pick this one because it's so unbelievably gorgeous and heartfelt, and I feel like I have a better understanding of this painting now. Of course I'll never be able to truly copy perfection, but pretending feels just as good! Thank you, makoccino.

I'm going to do this on a wall in my backyard, I hope I can use this technique to this scale. I'm not a painter by any means, I'm just naturally good at drawing and painting but never really cared too much to pursue it. I'm planning on using latex paint and my time and imagination as aides 🤣 lovely video thank you.

    Love this!
Wonderful tribute to Van Gogh, more should paint like him just to try to glimpse from his eyes for a second. A big part is to study oriental brush painting and ukiyo-e prints.
