Sassafras is probably the easiest to identify, as I call this one 'dinosaur feet leaf tree' of the 3 toe kind.the edges are smooth unlike the mulberry which is serrated yet shares the same dino foot shape.

I think I was sub 7k. Watched one video at 6.99k and liked the content so I subscribed and watched another. Very next video is 7k. That was fun. Good work on the videos my man.

Northern red oak leaf looks nearly like swamp turkey oak, or turkey oak. The Turkey Oaks though are rounder serrated edge vs their red oak cousin.

Nice open woods you wander. Very helpful in understanding this piece of local earth so I appreciate your sharing this with us

Thanks man. A lot of woods around here are over browsed by whitetail deer.

I live in New England as well but there is a lot of variation between southern New England and Northern New England...what zone are you in?

I'm in southern new england. There is a lot of variation! For example, I've looked at range maps and as far as I can tell there are no native firs here. Not sure what grows here and not there.

Thanks! I really like your account! I should have been more specific - I am in zone 4 VT and I have seen some of the things you show :)

@@anyajohnson4471 Good to know. I'm Always looking for people in the area to get experiences from. I can really only speak from my experiences but then someone else comes along not too far away and tells me the differences.
