The thought that ONE person ALONE could write such a thing just blows my mind
And by this time, he was already partially deaf.
Incredible forever...!
And this isn't even B at his best.
@@Tolstoy111agree.❤
And he was deaf
Thank you Singapore Symphony Orchestra, thank you Beethoven, the immortal!
What a great performance performance!
Beethoven, the voice of god !
An European genius and his music conquered entire world. This Singaporean performance is saying everything. Pleasure to watch many times !
Imagine if Beethoven lived another 15 or 20 years, how richer our human musical heritage would have been!
This like a Piano Sonata, a Piano Concerto, A Symphony and a Choral in a single package. Beethoven, thanks.
Beethoven the greatest composer of all time. I can even imagine how he did all this by himself. If he was alive now, I would tell him that he is the best. I really love his compositions. Bravo to Beethoven
You know if Beethoven had never composed the 9th this would be hailed as his masterwork, but its greatness is eclipsed by the glory of the symphony. There is nothing one can say about genius on this level except to enjoy it. And this wonderful performance brings all that magic out.
This fantasy is realy "a sketch "for the ninth symphony
I regard this as Beethoven's masterpiece. This performance is spoilt by the harshness of the Steinway, the baseboard needs to really hefty to give a better tone.
The choral fantasy was ‘training’ for the 9th, imho.
5th, 3d,6th Symphonies, piano 5? Grandiose. But this masterpiece is separate beauty.
@@colinnewton5254 This is his best piece? Really? Not any of the symphonies, string quartets, piano sonatas, conceros...but this?
It is so sad when it ends. You could listen to this godly music for ages.
Forever!
This is my favorite performance of LVB’s Choral Fantasy
Grandiose pianist who plays the piece flawlessly without any score! Great orchestra, great conductor and just as great choir.
Without a score, I didn't even realize...mind blown🤯
overweight director, but flying like a feather at the end. Bravo or bravissimo! Great pianist and great chor too. Really nice all
Best performance of this piece on UA-cam. Thrilling!
Beethoven opus 80!
To listen to this great and sooo wooonderful performance on u-tube is a marvelous thrill. Imagine you were there live!! Must be breathtaking. Congratulations to all those performing. Orchestra, soloists, pianist , chorus and last but certainly not least conductor!
This is not just the best in Asia, it’s one of the best orchestra, the best venues, the best performers in the world of classical music in the entire world, even surpassing Europeans and Americans.
There are many performances of this work on You-Tube. This one is the best of all. Great Pianist - Sextet - Choir and Conductor. Great Everything.
I must listen to this 3 or 4 times a week. I just love it! It's glorious! It's playful! Beethoven is toying with me, taking me back and forth between the child like melodies then into coronation music. It's joyous and royal at the same time a along on this steady crescendo to the beautiful choir. What a feast for our ears and mind. This music feeds my soul.
A joyful, joyous concert. What fun to see Andrew Litton practically dancing on the podium. The smiles of the choir and soloists delivered the music’s message of universal friendship so wonderfully.
‘Fried und freude’ to one and all in these troubled times.
GAYLE YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL ADORABLE SEDUCTIVE RAVISHING CAPTIVATING AND PASSIONATE MARRY ME ❤
The Performance Was Magnificent !!! An Extremely Deserved Prolonged Standing Ovation for both Soloist , Choir , and Orchestra !!!..I LOVE IT When An Audience Realizes they have just heard Greatness !!!....
Wow the conductor is amazing! He puts so much emotion into his movements, and thus the entire orchestra shines as well. The single best rendition of this piece by far. Bravo!
Edmund Roberts. From Canada with love. That was superb, they all seemed to enjoy performing as much as I enjoyed listening. Enthusiasm and skill makes for a winning combination.
Thank you for your kind words, Edmund! It was indeed one of our fondest memories from 2019, and this year a way we can keep marking Beethoven's 250th birthday.
In a light mood Beethoven displays - almost advertises - all his skills as a pianist, composer and arrangeur on all levels with unsurpassed mastery.
Yes, I think he shows off here, displaying all the tricks of his repertoire, free of all sentimentality or political allusion. Through this he reaches the fringes of the absolute for me.
Beethoven, for ever Beethoven.
This is the best version I've heard. Bravo. So many thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love the enthusiasm of the conductor! Pure joy!!
Just love to see the enjoyment in the faces of the choir
what a fantastic performance by a super pianist, a super orchestra, a super choir and a super conductor who - just like Leon Bernstein did - happily conducts his orchestra! How can one take the thumb down ???
Tuttora pelle d'oca e lacrime a stento trattenute...
And a super composer also...
Amazing, this music can reunite mankind. Thank you Singapore, thank you Asia. We all live on the same earth!
An uncommonly performed piece and i am glad that it is available on youtube by the SSO. Brilliant playing with fine strings and woodwinds from the SSO. Irfan played intelligently and the chorus plus the six vocal soloists really amplify this majestic choral fantasy. I wish i were there for the live performance. Thanks for uploading this infrequent work by Beethoven. BRAVO
This is BY FAR the best interpretation and rendition I have heard of the piece. You can feel the energy and dynamism in every single player, and especially all of the soloists. Absolute perfection. One of the few renditions that actually makes my eyes tear because it's musically so perfect.
Thank you for your kind words, Dheera! We long to sing (it) again!
No way, yet the german was very good and everybody enjoyed the play. Reference so is Barenboim as Pianist/Conductor and Carola Höhn as Sopran.
This piece has childlike beauty.
Very elegant playing by Tengku! Thanks SSO!
I'm glad they got so much applause, they deserve it
So great, I got goosebumps on my arms and tears in my eyes. Thank you for this moment of joy during this year of isolation!
Thank you for your kind words, Kathryn! The pleasure is ours!
To all talented musicians.....bravo! ( of course beetjoven too!!l)
Just love this even more every time I watch it.
just so great love it .i wear headphone's when i listen to BEETHOVEN.
18:35 Nice Swing
Absolutely beautiful. The pianist is outstanding. And the conductor is so engaged and so colourful. Bravo!
Beethoven unites, Covid divides. Splendid performance. Not too often do you see the conductor so animated during the performance as this gentleman.
So much joy.
This performance is total perfection!
Bravo Singapore & Tengku Irfan...💖💖💖👍👍👍🙏😍
Wow, I love this conductor! Bravo to everyone, so beautiful!!! This pianist has a light touch, so beautiful!!! Singers, awesome!!
This brings me so much joy!! I've listened to many performances of this piece, with different tempi, but this is the greatest!!!
Amazing -- such passion and joy to be part of this magic composition. This from tiny Singapore. Can you imagine that just a generation ago Singapore started from zero -- no water, energy, natural resources, land, or economy. They prove what people can do.
Bravissimo! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And thank you for the subtitles.
i been playing this for 40 yr's. OMG So Beautiful BEETHOVEN. Befrore The 9th. Was Composed.
A tribute to everything beautiful in music , Beethoven , the chorale, the pianist , orchestra and conductor - Bravo , I have enjoyed "multiple " viewing of this superb production celebrating JOY in every way , yes Andrew Litton with his joyous expresssion , everything about this recording is fantastic - well done!!!!
After listening to few SSO performances, it’s clear to me that it’s one of the best if not the best orchestras in the entire Asia.
Thank you for your kind words, George!
Bravo to the pianist and the orchestra as well as the choir not to mention the excellent audio and video recording ‼️👍👏🙋🏻😃🎹🎼🎶
A joy, a boundless happiness!
Beethoven had already written his finale to the ninth symphony he only had to rework it. He is a master of music using one and five chords. He shows his greatness grandeur and inspiration by filling his scores with one and five.
I remember going to the live performance with my school there, in November. I was enthralled by the spectacular performance. I could hear everything in the concert hall, even though I was seated near the top. Well Done!
A wonderful performance of my favourite Beethoven piece together with the Triple Concerto. A multicultural Singapore Symphony, singing in German, a great piano soloist , super choir and everyone, including the conductor, thoroughly enjoying themselves. Classical music at it's best as the universal language !!.
Thank you for your kind words! We look forward to performing this again some day!
My late Mother who was born in Germany before the war loved this piece as well as Beethoven's 9th; used to make her cry. She always preferred remembering Germany and how beautiful it was up until the war when she at age 11 had to leave with her family.
Good evening John, in Germany it is now 0:42 - (my mother was born in 1924) -
I live near Cologne. - Why not come to visit Beethoven's birthplace in Bonn? Not far away in Siegburg Engelbert Humperdinck was born, he was the composer of "Hänsel and Gretel", on You Tube there are some performances, especially the great "Brüderchen komm Tanz mit mir". - Jacques Offenbach was born in Cologne, however typical, the people from Cologne had some difficulties with his work, so he went to our friends in France.
Beethoven's house is quite modest, the room where he was born very small.
A fantastic museum is in Eisenach: Bach's birthplace - This museum is multi-dimensional, highly modern with all technical equipment.
Well, the beauty of a place, for me as former geography teache,r all places have their special charm.
It's amazing how Asian people enjoy classical music. Sometimes I have the feeling they appreciate it more than we Europeans.
In our opera houses there are many Asian singers, especially from Japan and South Korea. Wish you all the best.
Thank you, Singapore!!!!
What an amazing performance! Was just on stage performing this great piece in South Africa, loved every moment
Thank you so much for bestowing this beauty upon us!!!! We need beauty now more than ever. I am so grateful that I love classical music and am so grateful that I can access this 'higher form of art' so easily. This is a world class performance!! 😁🎼🎶🎶🎻🎻
This is one of my most favourite Beethoven. Thank you eternally @Singapore Symphony !!
A sprite, crisp performance---perfect in execution. Bravo!
Never gets old. Love it Love it Love it
First time seeing Tengku's recording in super HD. Never really got to see his hands this close! Amazing performance!!
Very good and it was good that the conductor acknowledged the chorus, for the most part. He should have had them bow on the 2nd encore, of course
The recording is fantastic!
Bravo Tengku Irfan 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
superb performance, not only performed cleanly, but with great heart. Thank you, SSO!
You made my Christmas evening - thank you so much all of you ☺

good job cameraman!
I agree it's a great video in addition to great music. Even though we are here for the music when the cameraman and editors do a great job it just adds to the fun!
Fantastic.! ! !
Beautiful! Bravo bravissimo! 👏
OMG! Wonderful !!!!!!!
SSO always delivers. Best talents.
Beautiful, I love it! Thank you soloist singers and orchestra! Love the subtitles too - this is the only youtube that has them as far as I know.
Thank you! Fun fact, the subtitles/captions were done by our in-house Graphic Designer, who happens to also sing!
@@singaporesymphony Also - thanks to the video producer - very nice following the video around the orchestra and focusing on the musicians who are playing the prominent parts. Lovely!
Ladies and get lemon, would the video producer accept interrupting this lovely music work by advertisements. In a concert hall people would avoid even coughing.
Printing error, not get lemon but gentlemen. Apologies for that.
