  • Once upon a time, I made a video about this. It was so long ago and really needed to be redone. So I finally did it! This is a method I used with my lovely missionaries to help them understand where I was coming from. Hope it helps give perspective. I encourage everyone to check out the resources below to learn more about the LDS people and how to reach them.

Well done. I studied with Mormons for a year in my home during that time I had about 20 different "elders" because when they started asking questions about they believed and they were removed from coming back to my home. I stood on the scriptures and the scriptures alone.

The place where I work is very diverse in religious beliefs and this is how I share the gospel by presenting videos like yours. Most are open minded and willing to listen and watch, others can become very combative and even apologetic 🤣, but I always come prepared. Its videos like yours that make it easy to establish a common ground to share the gospel. Thank you once again for making and sharing your videos with Facts and Evidence that keeps ppl wanting more. God bless you and keep up the GREAT WORK!

When you ask their missionaries tough questions one will come back with a higher up elder. Next you have only seasoned leaders. In the end they will register your address to block your house from being visited in the future by easily influenced young adults.
The good news in this is that many missionaries fall away from LDS as older adults. Later when they don't have their 24 hour a day buddy. The seeds of Truth often grow in them, & they do further research.

I have been raised LDS and been a member for 34 yrs. I have a son on a mission right now that I raised LDS. I stopped going to church not long ago because things didn’t sit right with me… I couldn’t understand how a loving God would not bless me if I didn’t go to church or go to the temple. I stopped going and realized he still blessed me. A lot of my family are LDS and tons of my friends are LDS. I have been going through so much cognitive dissonance it’s been painful. Really. Stripping away all the conditioning that I have been in for years is painful and hard. I am trying to be patient and kind with myself. Please be kind as well. I will say that I felt your video resonated with me. It held truth. I felt it. I looked up each scripture you mentioned in the world King James Version and the LDS King James Version. For the most part they are all correct and I was left in awe. How did I not see these before? I will say that the versus about the sin on the cross are different. 1 Peter 2:24 In the world King James Version (Not the lds king James) it says “tree”, not “cross.” It makes me question a lot of versions. It seems like there are various translations of the Bible as well. You gave me a lot to think about and I have watched several other videos from people who were previously LDS.I love the LDS people too, but I love God more and need truth. I also want to add that I am truly remorsefully sorry for adding to the nails on the chalkboard for Christians. I had no idea and I felt your analogy described perfectly on how you must feel when LDS say they are Christians. I’m sorry. I am grateful for your sharing.

A translation is different than a version.
In theory, in a translation the people go back to the original Hebrew and Greek and try to very carefully translate it into English. A version is well a version. However, despite the words, the King James Version is a translation. 50 men worked together for several years to do the best they could with the oldest documents they had.
The best translation is the, New American Standard Bible.
The ESV is popular now in churches.
(I was raised on the King James Version and still read it through every year.
The fact that you love God more and need truth is touching.
      Jeremiah 29

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord

Taking its inspiration from the catechumenate of the early Catholic Church by which converts from paganism were prepared for baptism, it provides post-baptismal formation to adults who are already members of the Church or to those far from the Church who have been attracted by the testimony of Christian life of love and unity in the communities.

Thanks for this wonderful video. I was born into the LDS church and even went on a mission. As I approached my mid 20's, got persuaded to stop following religion all together. In the past 6 months now being in my early 50's, my wife and I are now full Bible believers. Eyes have been opened to the truth and we now accept Jesus and are now followers of his grace. You have really nailed it where the LDS (Mormons) rely on their feelings and to add another aspect, a large amount are just following generational adoption ( Ancestors were Mormon so they were born into the faith ).

Great video!! I joined the Mormon church briefly at age 20 when I dated & later married a Mormon boy. My upbringing was very sporadic in episcopal church. The Mormons only gave me the tiniest amount of info about their church. Over the next 5-6 years I found out so much more & it frightened me! We divorced, not because of LDS doctrine, but because of his many affairs. That was in the ‘80’s. In 1992 I became a born again Christian. I’m shocked that anyone converts to Mormonism in this time of the internet. People who are already Mormon are not supposed to investigate which is how they keep some of their members in the dark.
Like you, the more I learn about the LDS religion, the more I learn about the Bible, because scripture is where we find that Mormon beliefs are completely opposite from Christian beliefs.

Same here, the more I digged into the Bible, the more I was shook by the differing ideologies between the Bible and the LDS Church. Isaiah 14:13-15 directly contradicts the Plan of Exaltation in the church via the temple. Ephesians 2:8-9 and 2 Corinthians 12:9 directly refute the idea that “By grace we are saved after all we can do (2 Nephi 25:23, Moroni 10:32).” Acts 17:24 directly refutes the need for all the temples we have in LDS church.

Hello Melissa, Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am excited to share with you something very meaningful that has happened to me. As a Christian who was helped out of the New Age by Doreen Virtue, I have loved the apologetic work you, especially, do for us. That is why I am moved to share my testimony with you.
As a Christian, I have been spiritually struggling to juggle the three gods of the "mysterious" Trinity. So, I did a little research and quickly discovered the truth about the Trinity. What I learned has opened my eyes to the truth about God as He reveals Himself in the Bible.
Worshipping the one and only true God has brought me real peace, real comfort, and real happiness! I wish the same to you!
    In Love,

Unpopular opinion: Many, if not MOST, people who call themselves christian do not really KNOW or BELIEVE the fundamental tenets of Christianity. I'm not talking about people who struggle or question some of the more difficult issues, especially during life's trials. I'm referring to people who heard that Jesus loves them and that sounded nice.

Did Moroni confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh? No? Thought so. Then he's NOT OF GOD! 1 John 4:2.
That should be ALL THE PROOF anyone needs!
I've been trying to convince some Mormon missionaries I met that they are deceived.
I liked them. I'm sure they are better people than I am but salvation is about BELIEF and not being a good person.
The worse we humans are, the more we can see that we need a savior.
I keep telling deceived people, " if someone kept telling me I was deceived and headed to hell for believing in a false Jesus, I would at least seriously investigate it!
I don't understand a lot about the Bible, but I believe I have the most important part correct.
Ie. I believe on/ trust Jesus 100% for my Salvation.
I believe in his death, burial, and resurrection to cover my sin debt and save me from the fire.

I was raised Mormon. I then and sought the new age and now am a born again believer of Christ.
Mormons also believe in getting a “Patriarchal” blessing. Where a man in the church is to give a you a blessing that is kind of like a fortune telling of what you need to work on in your life, your talents, etc. It’s weird. I never got one and was always weirded out by it. Leaving the church I felt so alone and fell into the new age. I am BLESSED beyond belief that the true savior has revealed his truth to me. I recently had about a dozen meetings with a pair of Mormon missionaries (in a genuine attempt on my part to understand their beliefs). What I noticed was they would make very sweeping & vague statements, but when asked to actually QUALIFY these statements , they would just reply with another vague statement that they couldn't QUALIFY.
For instance, regarding their statement about The Bible ("we believe in The Bible in as much as it's been translated correctly") I asked them WHEN and WHERE these alleged 'mistranslations' occurred, & from what language to what language (e.g - Greek to English ? Hebrew to Latin ?) and if they could give me just ONE concrete example (I also pointed out that biblical scholars of today can go back to texts in the original language & look at them to see if they've been translated correctly).
They replied to this by saying that early in church history, the church leaders had sat down & allegedly 'changed' the text of The Bible (which of course, has nothing to do with the alleged issue of 'mistranslation'). I pointed out that the logistics of this, even if it HAD happened, would be impossible (how could they possibly recall all existent copies of The Bible & change the text within ?). I asked them WHEN and WHERE this alleged meeting of church leaders had happened, but they could give no details.
They claimed that the Book Of Mormon allegedly 'clarifies' some of the teachings of The Bible which are 'unclear', but on asking WHICH teachings it 'clarifies', they said it 'clarifies some of the contradictions in The Bible'. I then asked 'WHICH alleged contradictions', but they couldn't give me an example (& said they'd have to 'get back to me as regards that question').
I find it so strange that they're being sent all around the world making statements like these (which they allegedly 'know in their heart to be true') yet when pinned down to QUALIFY these statements they're at a total loss.

I once read a statistic (which may be slightly outdated now but is still very telling) stating that only 2% of converts to the LDS church occur through the work of the missionaries. I believe it is part of the design of things for keeping Mormons in the faith; it is not about *bringing* in believers but *keeping* them through isolation from the time in your life when you often explore outside of the things you've been raised believing, and placing them in a rewarding place of service while being surrounded by other people who believe in all of the same things.

    • @brettmajeske3525

It is an interesting/difficult situation. When I was LDS and served a mission I was astounded by the number of other missionaries who didn't know the Bible or really any specific answers to common questions. I'm not putting them down but at the time I was frustrated because I thought "so many more people would join the Church or understand our faith more if missionaries were more knowledgable!" Obviously, I'm not about that anymore but the thing is that there are people in the Church that could answer those questions for you. The Church is full of people who are scholarly in their faith, but missionaries don't have that standard. They'll take anyone who's worthy and willing lol the training that a missionary gets is just a couple of weeks (longer if they're learning a language) and it just goes over basics as they believe that the roots come before the branches so they don't want them getting into any specific doctrinal discussions. Other than that it's up to the missionary's life experience aka did they study the scriptures, teachings of the Church, etc.

Also God is not the author of confusion... I.e. why did Joseph Smith have several first vision accounts. And that's just one of many problems I had when coming out of this religion.
Funny the word of God says even Lucifer himself can become a Angel of light and if any angel or person preach any other gospel let him be accursed. And on and on and on...

Great message, Melissa. Soooo many excellent points made. Thank you for doing what you do. I was just on the phone this morning with a very good friend of mine, Mr. Michael Flournoy. Ex-Mormon, Ex-Mormon Apologist, now born-again Christian/Christian Apologist. Part of our conversation earlier today was about another veil that has been put up. Michael shared 2 Corinthians 4:3,4 with me. Solution? Work like yours, this video. Continued witnessing, but LOTS of prayer. More prayer. We need to pray fervently for these that we love, that the Lord has put a burden on our hearts to be a witness to. I've been a witness to those who are LDS since 2002, just weeks after a profound born-again experience. There is a spiritual war for their souls. Thank you again, for all you do. I will continue to watch your work here. Mike, in Kansas City.

I became Mormon for two years and got out of it by way of a special legal letter. The letter makes the church in Salt Lake City have to take your name off their list of members. Without the letter you'll still be legally a member

    • @Isabel-yg5qz

What happens if you're legally a part of the church? Is is to do with the government or just the church?

@@Isabel-yg5qz You don't have to do a legal letter. You write a letter to your ward Bishop stating that you want to be removed from church records. He may want to meet with you to discuss it - you just have to stick to your guns and maybe wait for the wheels to turn, but he must honour your wishes. There's no law about "legally" being a member. Some people just stop going and don't worry about it. (Either way, lot cheaper than paying a lawyer.)

Lizzy I am so glad to hear that you are leaving Mormonism and want to investigate biblical Christianity.
I was raised LDS and was a member for many years, and Jesus brought me out into a personal relationship with Him.
Salvation in the Bible means this: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23-25‬ ‭
Salvation is a gift because we cannot do any work that God would deem to be good enough in His eyes to count for our merit. Actually, the Bible says that before salvation we are “dead in our trespasses and sins “ Eph 2 and so we cannot do anything to help ourselves but are totally dependent on God.
Ephesians also tells us “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:4-6, 8-9‬ ‭
I have a tiny YT channel where I have began uploading videos for the LDS, with the objective to share the biblical Gospel in contrast with LDS doctrines. You may wan to also check it out.
And for Bible knowledge, I would also look up Mike Winger’s channel. He really knows how to teach the Bible. He has some videos on Mormonism also.
Apologia Studios, Dr. James White have great content on it as well. Dr. White’s work specializes in Textual Criticism, which deals with the history of biblical manuscripts, their transmission and how they were translated, which show us that unlike Joseph Smith taught, the Bible hasn’t not been messed up with.
      Hope it helps!🤗

Get a KJV Bible and begin to study. Approach Jesus with sincerity. He will give you a new heart and lead you into all truth.
"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."- Ezekiel 36:26

So glad you asked! The websites I gave in the description? They are *amazing* resources that can help you understand it from your transitioning mindset. You don't just need to get a KJV to study, but an ESV or NIV is just fine to study with and read.
Being saved means you're born again, made a child of God, much different than what LDS teach- that we're *all* children of God. The Bible teaches we're born basically as slaves to sin. We have to be redeemed, to be bought back. The price is death. Jesus paid it.
This might be a good starting point on the differences between the two:

I grew up in a neighborhood with a Mormon temple and many Mormon neighbors. They were not friendly, except among themselves. Based on their behavior I would NOT have become a Christian.
Thankfully, one of my neighbor friends, Gil, was a Christian missionary kid, born in New Guinea. When it came time to search out God, Gil was there for me. His mom was more of a mom to me than my mom, so it was easy to listen to their beliefs.
Totally agree and understand that the "spirit" spoken of in Mormonism and New Age is Satan.

  • @htimothyberends5209

Melissa, you did a fantastic job! God is really using you to reach our LDS friends! I asked a Mormon missionary once “how do the Born-Agains treat you?” He said, “pretty rough. They’ll tell us they have another faith and slam the door in our face.” I suggested to my wife that she make her Syrian stew and we’d invite them in and share the Gospel with them. So that’s what we did.
Then I was going to interview former Mormons that had become Born-Again Christians (on my radio program in So. Cal) and thought it was only fair to go to a Mormon Church and find former Evangelical Christians that had converted to Mormonism. I went over to a Ward in San Bernardino on a Sunday morning and spoke to a fella who was in front of the church. I told him who I was and what I wanted and he told me to meet his Bishop. He introduced me to the Bishop (who told me that he was a former Catholic) and the Bishop told me that it was the first Sunday of the month and the first service would be the Testimony Service and he invited me to come into the service. I did and they started singing songs I had never heard of before (with the exception of “Lead Kindly Light”) and there was no life in the songs being sung. Then they had communion (white bread and water) and didn’t take it. Then they opened it up for testimonies. Three women went up and started sharing (“I want to bear witness that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and the Mormon faith is a true faith.”) and they were all crying and it wasn’t happy crying! I told the Lord “this is terrible!” The Lord spoke to my spirit and said “I’ve given YOU a testimony.”
I was so scared but headed to the platform. I’ve been less afraid in crack houses in East St Louis on a Friday night sharing the Gospel than I was that Sunday morning. The guy who had spoken to me outside followed me up on the platform and when it was my turn and I walked past him to the podium, “I heard him say “Don’t do it Brother! Don’t do it.” When I started speaking God gave me such incredible peace. You can hear me share my testimony at a Mormon Ward on UA-cam “The Mormon Testimony vs. The Christian Testimony.”
I’ve now shared my Christian Testimony in 51 Mormon Wards in Southern California, Las Vegas and St Louis and they haven’t killed me yet. (You can’t threaten a Christian with Heaven) I encourage those of you who are Believers to do the same thing. The Testimony Service is usually at 10AM on the first Sunday of the month. I’d go in about 10 minutes late so they’re not asking you what Ward you’re from and get lots of people praying for you!
In your Testimony you can point out that Deut. 18:20-22 tells us how we can know someone is a false prophet. They’ll have false prophecies.
Jospeh Smith prophesied that people live on the moon, they dress like Quakers, live to be a thousand years old and are 6 feet tall.
He prophesied that the ten lost tribes of Israel along with the Apostle John live in a tropical valley at the North Pole.
He prophesied that the Second Coming of Christ and the end of the world would take place in 1891.
He prophesied a temple would be built on the “temple lot” in Independence Mo. in the generation living in 1823.
He prophesied that he would return from Salem, Mass. with “many people” and “much treasure.”
Joseph Smith claimed to be a prophet. His prophecies were false. Therefore he was a false prophet.

Could you do a whole video of those missionaries in the first part of your video???
That was a brilliant analogy but I actually loved those guys!
There's no way I could share all of my stories here but I will say I took the long way to get to what you described in a video.
I have 6 brothers and all of them served as Mormon missionaries, I'm the only one who chose not to go. To say the least that alone was a difficult decision especially at age 19.
I also have 10 sisters and one of them went on a mission for the Mormon church.
I'm the 14th of 17 children and we all have the same mother and father.
I also have one more sister, we share the same father but have different mothers.
She was born after my parents divorced so we didn't know each other until we were adults.
I didn't leave the Mormon religion because it didn't add up compared to Christianity, I left because it just didn't make sense to me at all.
I read the Book of Mormon at one point hoping to receive confirmation from God that it was true but got the exact opposite confirmation.
When my Mormon friends and family ask me why I'm not one of them I tell them I love everything about being a Mormon except for the religion.
I'm 59 now and haven't been part of the church for 30 years or so. I actually thought you were being serious about those missionaries and was dying laughing in the first part of this video!
It sounds like reading the Bible is something I should do at this point in my life. I believe in God and that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Not to give us a free pass to do whatever we want in life but because we are human and require forgiveness to be in God's presence.

What commentaries have you found on 2 Corinthians 11:4? The whole video was amazing but as a false covert in a heretical church (now true covert in a reformed church), that verse hit me hard. My ex-“church” believed Jesus emptied himself of his divinity while on earth, so they were preaching a different Jesus.

I know I’m late to the party but wanted to throw in my 2 cents. This is a great video. I was raised in the LDS church. I too love the people. These are questions I developed after leaving the church after a mission. That did me in with the church. I left and after several years of praying I finally decided to crack open a basic KJV Bible. I realized that my entire life I had a strong connection with God the Father through diligent prayer. But my connection to Jesus was beyond weak. It was weird the way that I was taught. It felt like yep Jesus his part and was now sitting up in Heaven with God the Father waiting on the second coming and giving out direction to navigate safely until Jesus returns. That was my relationship with Jesus. Now I ask so desperate for that connection. Still actively seeking that relationship. Thanks for the videos. They’ve brought up a ton of great things to consider. Keep the coming.

I have had a lot of interaction with Mormons. In all the countries I worked as a missionary, we experienced them. They are lovely people, as you say. But when you move up the ladder and interact with their leaders, it is another story. I studied with the leader (or head) of the Mormon church in Namibia. It was an eye-opening experience. On more than one occasion I became aware of an evil presence in my interaction with the man. However, in Korea we had the Mormon missionaries can to our house on a regular basis. We became like parents to them and two of them became Christians because of our time we spent together. They really are lovely people.
