Yeaaah you're right ! The first time I saw him I immediately thought that this guy is awesome like his drawings and he talk and explain modestly not like he knows more than everyone else, and I love this thing ( anyway he REALLY knows more than everyone I think !)
Got back into drawing after about 13 years. I lost a lot of confidence then I discovered your channel and absolutely inspired me to get back into it not just how good your work is and hopefully come close to replicating your quality of work, but the tips and tracks too! So just want to say thank you and what a legend! 🤜
I think this is probably my favorite video that you’ve done. It’s so much lighter and happier and your playfulness is extremely appealing. Thank you for sharing yourself ❤️
Music is one of he most important tools when I draw. It keeps me active and prevents me from becoming bored, allowing me to draw for long periods of time.
Thanks Jono, I didn’t understand what the sandpaper mesh was until now. Compressed air - genius. Thank you for sharing your materials and tools you use.
Your artwork is AMAZING!! I love the box you keep your pencils in too, I have 2 of them for my colored pencils and now i want to buy more of them. The video was fun to watch!✌🏼✍🏼
Watching from Atlanta, I have a few questions if you don't mind! 1. What is your process for shipping large scale originals? Do you build a crate, etc. 2. How many months/years does it take for you to produce enough artwork for a show? As always (without being repetitive) your work is awe-inspiring! Thanks,
Afmat has a rechargeable electric eraser that I prefer. It has two sizes, a one small the size of the Derwent Battery operated eraser and a smaller size. It’s about the size of the tombow eraser. They’re charged with either your laptop or your phone charger. I’m not sure if anyone has said anything about this eraser or not. I use it quite often, although now I use it with my colored pencils. But I still love graphite and oils. But nobody that I’ve ever seen can compare to you. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Thank you for sharing this information. It’s very unselfish of you to do this, especially for us not so talented drawers. I enjoy watching all your videos. The canned air and embossing tools were a surprise to me. Guess you can tell how new I am to this. Really helps knowing all little extras . Thank you again!
This video was so helpful for a newbie artist. Thank you! Loved the clip of you blowing your hair with the compressed air, it's fun to see your goofy side in contrast to the intensity if your drawings.
I asked a question about your tools and another video just moments ago. Please disregard that I'm saving this video. Thank you so much for sharing. That is so awesome. Definitely three takeaways of new tools I don't use. Very cool. And you're at work is breathtaking of course. There are no words. But I didn't hear is it cold press or hot press for the paper. You get such Darkness on your work I love it
You inspired me to do my first hyperrealistc drawings and im currently working on my best drawing because of what i learned from watching you and your style and techniques. Thank you for sharing.
I think the most important thing is to make sure you have a body of work ready that you are proud of. I go into this in some of my earlier videos from this year. If you have time go check them out I hope they might be helpful.
Jono, maybe you should talk about dealing with frustration or mistakes in a video? Like, do you ever have a moment where you make a horrible mistake and just want to scrap the whole thing? Actually do? Or overcome the frustration?
hai jono dont forget to do a QNA video before 2020 ends. lots of questions coming up.witnessed your channals growth.it was amazing to be a part of ur growth and and growing myself as a person and my artwork too.
I love that your materials are in proportion. In that an electric rubber will take off a hair or an eyelash ...a sliver of colour ... and a propelling pencil is always pointy enough for fine detail. These things are true only because your work is the size of a small house. :_)) Some of us do small work and to take off a 'sliver' of colour we have to aim just the edge of a new or newly refined eraser and to get the finest line, we have to sharpen. The lesson remains valid, though, in that we all need precision materials that are fitted to both us and the work we're doing.
Oh, I love that little woodbox you use to keep all your drawing tools. One day when I have my studio setup done, I definitely want to invest in something like that.
I just got back into drawing recently after 20 years and I came across your channel. I am definitely inspired. Also, when I saw "cotton wool" I instantly thought, South African. 😅
Jono, for some reason i couldn't comment on your previous video about Solitude and I actually watched this video a few times just to listen to your words. So soothing and helpful to my mind, thank you. Also, take good care for that golden right hand.
Hi Jono! I am very inspired by your work, they are amazing! They are encouraged to develop and learn something new. For a long time I dreamed of drawing an eye, as realistic as possible, started looking for references on the Internet, stumbled upon a cool job, it was immediately clear that this was a pencil drawing, not a black and white photograph, which is surprising, there was no signature on that picture. When I started to draw, I got a deja vu, that I saw it somewhere, but it turned out that it was your work. Sorry, please, I hope this does not hurt, but rather encourages you to create even more amazing works, so that people would like to try to repeat your unique creation! With love, your subscriber!
I recently discovered your artwork from your post on Reddit about Solitude and since then I've been watching your videos. I must say your artwork is so sooo beautiful and ethereal. I also love the way you speak in your videos. Keep being amazing! Love from Sri Lanka ❤️
Morning Jono, love the video dear... a couple of giggles with the coffee (lol) Curious with the compressed air, shall give it a go, and still working on the extra large size, might be in the later winter after I finish unpacking and down sizing, Ugh what a chore, I should of done it years ago, when the kids got older ( there about your age) sending hugs, be safe to you and your family.
Hello in a Recent video of yours i asked what you used to Protect your drawings with a sealor spray well i found my answer in this video i searched but wasn't finding reference to this answer but i see here you included that information, I've seen and heard long ago in art class this type of product but i was kind of more interested in if anything new had been developed anyway thanks your videos help with my confidence in my own work seeing you go through allot of the same issues creating your work, wanted to say i saw the info i had asked for in other video, here in this one, so to not make you repeat yourself thanks again hope all is well for you and your Creating! keep Rock-N!!!
I'm just some one who doodles but my new tool this year for blending/smudging graphite is a cheap make up sponge applicator. I find paper stumps always come unravelled, I'm probably doing something wrong 😁
I love your work Jono, I am self made artist with zero education, but your work always makes me say wowwwwwwwww. I was looking to see more about your mechanical pencils :)
Thanks for watching! I use 0.7mm Mechanical Graphite Pencils (Faber-Castell). I try to get the softest one I can find, which is usually a 2B for the 0.7mm. I use a 0.35mm pencil sometimes too, and then I have to use B or 2H grade graphite. Hope this helps!
@@JonoDry Thanks a loooooot, you made my day :), It for sure helps a lot. I have always learned a lot from you. you know Artists always finds each other, I am in Afghanistan and a big fun of yours :).
Depending on how much compressed air you use, it could be worth getting an air compressor designed for an air brush. I know a few pencil and charcoal artists use an airbrush to apply a matte medium over finished art work as well. But at the very least, having an air compressor with variable pressure and a few different nozzles could save you money in the long run.
@@JonoDry thanks for replying, I also like pencil drawing . But I stopped drawing for like years. After watching your video, you give me hope again. I'll start practice to draw like you.❤️
Thanks for sharing …your work is absolutely superb! It’s fascinating to see the tools you use in achieving such stupendous art pieces! Your videos are fun and inspiring!👌🙂. From. 🇨🇦
About the 9B Graphite stick powder grind that you got, why don't you just purchase and use an industrial grade kitchen blender to blend the sticks (preferably broken into smaller pieces) and it'll become graphite powder in no time. The blender is of course very expensive but it's an investment that can reduce the time for grinding graphite sticks and you can focus more effort on your drawings. As always, you're amazing and I never see you as a human because that drawing with that level of accuracy is beyond human!!
Could you please write down all the instruments you are using? I'm Italian, and I understood about 70% of what you said, but I'm not sure about the other 30% 😅. However, you are an inspiration to me. I don't even dream og reaching your level, but you made me think that something good can come from my hands. Thank you and keep going on! Greetings from Italy!

Jono's intro is so modest. "Hey I'm Jono and I do pencil drawings". Anyone who sees his work know it's sooooooooo much more!!!
I mean he does do pencil drawings
That’s one of the things that makes him so much more appealing.
and then makes a video of tools he uses without mentioning pencils :)
Yeaaah you're right ! The first time I saw him I immediately thought that this guy is awesome like his drawings and he talk and explain modestly not like he knows more than everyone else, and I love this thing ( anyway he REALLY knows more than everyone I think !)
