If your Mac amp and Heath preamp needs servicing, you might want to have them resto-modded too with slightly more up to date components, like connectors, switches, capacitors, resistors, and diodes.. Depending on your budget and where you live, there are people like Blackie Pagano (NYC) who could work on these.. Yeah, better just use the Teac Dolby noise reduction unit for your Tapes only if needed.. You have great taste in gear, young lady..
Wow Geraldine, what a great rig! - I love Heathkit and Mac equipment - I just happened to see your video listed in the sidebar and stopped by to take a look - very nice!

You are a ray of sunshine and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from you !
I have often gotten manuals from the manufacturers website, just type in that it is a cassette player and the model number and you can download the owners manual. They are usually available about 95% of the time.
Well, I'm just floored....I never expected a millennial to be interested in actual stereo components. Your equipment selection is excellent and definitely reflects your keen knowledge in vintage stereo equipment. Keep the video coming I'll like to hear more from you.
Enjoyed the tour of your vintage system! I liked them all including the Akai reel to reel tape deck. I don't do Tik Tok or Instagram but will look into them.
Impressive collection of audio gear. Really dig the versatility of your pre-amp. I got the hifi bug in 1975 after military service. Most of my current components are original purchase in l970's/80's. My Hitachi SR-804 receiver has bidirectional dubbing and has a Pioneer RG-2 expander on tape 1 with a Teac X-3 open reel deck on the expander tape loop. Tape 2 has a Sound Shaper Two IC graphic EQ that has bidirectional dubbing on the EQ. Connected cassette decks are Denon DRM-800A and Yamaha KX-260. Switching flexibility is very satisfactory. A Pioneer PL-518 turntable with Shure M95HE pickup on phono and Sony CDP-CE275 CD player on Aux input. Speakers are Ohm model L's in living room and Ohm H's in dining room. Headphones are Koss Pro4X. Thanks for the lucid "walk" through your audio acquisitions, well done.
those Pioneer's were a joint effort with TAD, all you gotta do to impress the audiophilez is show them how much TAD speakers cost and they'll shut right up awesome collection!
Love your system. I also have a pair of Pioneer speakers the S1EX. Like your speakers they are made by TAD but carry the Pioneer label. I also have 3 other high end makes but it's the Pioneer that I have plugged in. You got a new subscriber in me.
thanks for making HiFi more accessible 🥰❤️ I'm also running a vintage setup with value over out-and-out performance. at the end of the day, it sounds great for the room and furniture I'm limited by. it doesn't take much to get a very decent sounding system with a good selection of sources. I think my speakers are the cheapest component after my cables, but they make me smile everytime I listen to them ☺️
Great set-up! I have never seen a cassette deck like that! Nor the CD player! ••• I've had my Akai GX77 since 1982. I've had to have it repaired once before, and it needs it again, but I'll never part with it. ••• I'll definitely be checking out more of you videos.
The high end of the Pioneer line, “Elite”, are the beesknees.. The lineage comes from TAD (Technical Audio Devices) professional components.. A lot of people are ignorant about it. TAD still makes high end speakers but they are now more suited to solid state amps and are harder to drive…
Wow how refreshing to have a young lady so keen on vintage hifi. I loved the video many thanks for that. I first came across Heathkit in the form of an amp my father built for his parents.ni wish I had kept it when they passed away. Ref the speakers, I agree if they produce the sound quality you like then great is that not what we all want. They look very interesting I am not familiar with them. I'm very interested in your other Heathkit what's happening with those units? Are they in need of repair maybe.i look forward to more from your channel.
I'm impressed, to say the least. This lady knows what it means to be a Vintage Audiophile. It's not just the music the equipment creates, it's also admiring the look and special functions of your gear.
Your right, sound is subjective. If you like the pioneers Then they are good, to you... Pioneer did make some really good products over the years. My pioneer turntable blew my Luxman turntable out of the water to my surprise, but pioneer has produced some real stinkers as well. JVC is another company that made a lot of junk, but managed to put out some giant killer products from time to time. Have you tried Mission speakers? I currently listen to a pair of Mission 70 MK2's , and love the heck out of them.. I picked them up used for about thirty dollars on Face book market place. It turns out they were speaker of the year in Europe, in 1984. They make some pretty great sounding speakers, that seem to disappear in the room, making it seem as if your at a live event... Almost lol lol The truth is that all companies put out junk. No one company is perfect, and you just have to fish through the garbage so to speak to find what sounds good to you. The real trait of an Audiophile is that you can actually discern the difference between sound signatures, that each brand has and choose what works for you, in the living situation that you have. Finding the winning combination for you. Great video, keep it coming.
Great stereo system I like all your stereo stuff I have a lot of old school stereos to you're right those Pioneer sound way better than then the L100dJBL L100 keep doing this keep on Old School have a great day
Great system Geraldine, congratulations. As a sugestion try not to mix factories ie General Electric and RCA output tubes as they have different sound. Either stick with RCA or General Electric outputs for best result. Im curious if you had to refurbish your vintage gear.
Great video! I have two pair of the TZ-7’s and really love their sound! I believe this will be a speaker that will be harder to find and more expensive in the future as people wake up to how great they are.
Looks very legit, you have a unique and interesting mixing of components. What really matters is that you enjoy it, nobody can define your tastes for you. Really rare to see women dive this deeply into the hobby, and to be this into it. Well done. Also nice to see special rare vintage gear that is still all functioning well, that alone says something about your passion.
Hi Geraldine, I love your enthusiasm! Re. your speakers, I've never heard them, but those people who knock them have never heard them with tube gear. Also, the MC240 was the first tube amp I owned, back in the 90s. Since then I've had tube amps from Quad, Leak, and Audio Research. I love them all, and would like to hear the MC240 again w/my current gear. The MC240's midrange is unsurpassable. BTW, you forgot to tell us what phono cartridge is on the turntable. Also, I think NEC made the first vertical CD player.
Yes, Geraldine, I second everything my best friend Robert said. Robert is locally known as Mr. Record and has remastered many LPs. What a great video of vintage gear. Wpw. 1983 Hitachi CD player-super interesting earliest vertical player. No one should criticize your speakers without hearing them first in your system in your room.
Wow a girl and vintage stereo equipment, that is all a guy needs. i have a lot of videos on my channel of my vintage boombox collection, i also have some vintage hifi's on there. also my main stereo, my Kenwood M85 with 2x 14 band spectrum analysers from 1991.
I love this video, simply because it doesn't dig into all the guts and specs of the hi-fi universe. There's no judgement, no scrutinizing frequency response, no arguing about room acoustics - Just a passion for music and cool old stuff.
I have DA1000. I bought it in 1983. One of the first in the country. Only two CD’s available at the time. Still have them as well. Unfortunately the drawer mechanism gave big problems. Fixed it a couple of times. Not working properly now. Anyone interested. Open to offers. Sounded great by the way.

Hey Geraldine, I am a long time Instagram follower. I agree that someone’s favourite speakers may not be everyone else’s. Pioneer Elite Series was top of the line consumer hi-fi in it’s day. If you like how it sounds then nobody has an argument about it! 😮 P.S. Love the Lancer 77’s!🎉❤
Nice set-up - a few points, however, based on age & experience. * I wouldn't use Dolby on the open reel tape. If you're recording at 7.5IPS you won't need it. Dolby knocks off the top of the audio spectrum and if you have 'golden ears' you will notice it. * Check the bias on the power tubes of your Mac - my guess is that it's out of spec. The original Mac power tubes are showing considerable heat darkening, which may be a sign the plates are being over-driven. * Resto-mod the Heathkit pre-amp. Heathkit wasn't considered particularly high-quality or complex - they were designed to be assembled by the hobbyist - and the original components were spec'd to price, so they're not the greatest. Nice to see a Dual T/T in action - I used to have a CS505, back in the day.
You have a great vintage gear setup Geraldine. I have a set of Pioneer speakers cs g103 that I bought back in the early 90's probably around 93 or so and they sound great. I also have a pioneer receiver that I got around the same time.
Hi Geraldine! Really enjoyed your vintage system! I have been into audio since I was a teenager ( mid/late 60's) and have had many components over the years. I love that stuff and own audio items from a vintage Victrola 78 RPM crank up record player to a full blown 5.1 surround system in the main living room. But I also have a dedicated music room with vintage Pioneer components including an RT909 reel to reel machine, a Pioneer PL55X direct drive turntable, and a Pioneer SA77 integrated amplifier. The amp is driving some modest Polk bookshelf speakers, but I can also Bluetooth the audio to the main system in the living room if I want. I also have a 1965 Wurlitzer jukebox that still works in the music room. I have a Marrantz cassette deck in that room but is not hooked up yet, but I will do that eventually. Vintage audio is a fun hobby and it is refreshing to see other peoples systems! I will subscribe to your channel and look forward to more of your videos! Chris from Florida.
Fantastic ! My dream is to find out where I can find such amazing machines. I'm taking my first steps into the world of vintage devices. They bring us into an intimate relationship with music. I love analogue. Congratulations here from Brazil.
The JBL Lancers will never sound right until you re-do the foam surrounds and re-cap the crossover. But even then, they are a terrible design that nobody would make today. And any vintage JBL l100 speaker is dreadful on so many levels that I's astonishing people actually find them desirable. But those Pioneers were made in the USA, were very highly engineered by TAD and are vastly superior probably any 1970s and 80s era speakers. So it's obvious that you have a good ear and are not swayed by nostalgia too much. Keep those TZ-7 speakers or give them to me. Nice system Geraldine.
if your not already, i would recommend you get some connections to the ham radio guys for tubes, theres alot of hams out there keeping old boat anchors going, and they can usually find tubes that are hard to find, as well as other parts

Your a girl...and your an AUDIOPHILE...yea...love your system it's all quality vintage items.Nice real nice. The speakers you gave mentioned are very nice.Congratulations on yout set up.Keep up the search and good luck on your channel.
Thank you very much! 😁
Thanks for the tour, Geraldine. You’re well-spoken so it’s a joy to have you teach us. Do you have any vintage “boom boxes”. If so, can you consider a show n tell for those? Thank you. Love vintage stereo stuff…built so beautifully. Thanks 😃
I do have a few! Hope to make a video sometime! 😄
Ah thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed!! 😊
I enjoyed that and have subscribed. Thanks for sharing your system. I hope you get a chance to continue to explore and present interesting hi-fi
I appreciate it! Thank you! I’ll be making more vids! 😁
I got my first record player when I was 19 and now I'm 21 and looking to expand my collection and audio setup and your videos have been motivating and inspiring me to do that ever since I've discovered your reels on IG. You are a ray of sunshine and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from you !
Sell me your CD player Geraldine
me reading this comment: 🙈🙉
I have often gotten manuals from the manufacturers website, just type in that it is a cassette player and the model number and you can download the owners manual. They are usually available about 95% of the time.
I love your enthusiasm Geraldine, there's nothing better than a good vintage system. I have some old Akai gear that I love.
Well, I'm just floored....I never expected a millennial to be interested in actual stereo components. Your equipment selection is excellent and definitely reflects your keen knowledge in vintage stereo equipment. Keep the video coming I'll like to hear more from you.
Thank You!
cool gear, i have the same first generation Hitachi cd player
Hell yeah!! Awesome! 😊
Enjoyed the tour of your vintage system! I liked them all including the Akai reel to reel tape deck. I don't do Tik Tok or Instagram but will look into them.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😁
È bello vedere una ragazza interessata a un impianto Hifi.(oltretutto vintage)
Il top è sicuramente il finale Mcintosh.
Complimenti 👍🎶🇮🇹
What an impressive setup you have! It must sound amazing!😊
I haven't ever seen a tape deck like that before.. (The Hitachi one) That is neat.
the best channel about nostalgia. Congratulations, Geraldine. Brazil.
Thank you!! 😊
those Pioneer's were a joint effort with TAD, all you gotta do to impress the audiophilez is show them how much TAD speakers cost and they'll shut right up
awesome collection!
hahaha thank you! 😆
Thank you, Geraldine! What a fantastic and informative video. I found on on Instagram. Subbed now on UA-cam! I love your current setup!
Awesome! Thank you! 😊
Love your system. I also have a pair of Pioneer speakers the S1EX. Like your speakers they are made by TAD but carry the Pioneer label. I also have 3 other high end makes but it's the Pioneer that I have plugged in.
You got a new subscriber in me.
Thank you! I appreciate the sub!! 😊🌟
thanks for making HiFi more accessible 🥰❤️
I'm also running a vintage setup with value over out-and-out performance. at the end of the day, it sounds great for the room and furniture I'm limited by. it doesn't take much to get a very decent sounding system with a good selection of sources. I think my speakers are the cheapest component after my cables, but they make me smile everytime I listen to them ☺️
What kind of music do you like to hear?
McIntosh tube amp is phenomenal! Audiophile piece of equipment!
Great set-up! I have never seen a cassette deck like that! Nor the CD player! ••• I've had my Akai GX77 since 1982. I've had to have it repaired once before, and it needs it again, but I'll never part with it. ••• I'll definitely be checking out more of you videos.
Wow, killer gear there! Love the look of that Heathkit especially. The Hitachi stuff is super rad too!
Love it. 😎
thank you!! :-)
The high end of the Pioneer line, “Elite”, are the beesknees.. The lineage comes from TAD (Technical Audio Devices) professional components.. A lot of people are ignorant about it. TAD still makes high end speakers but they are now more suited to solid state amps and are harder to drive…
Just wow, nothing but smiles on my face while watching your video.
Just as impressive as your fascinating vintage gear is the immaculate condition you keep it in. Kudos!
I love your set up; thanks for sharing! I've been addicted to music and good reproduction for a long time!
Awesome! Thank you! ☺
Awesome! 🥰 The R2R tape recorder and the CD player 😍 Great idea with MTV-reel!
Wow, Geraldine! I am very impressed by your setup, but I am even more impressed by your palpable enthusiasm. Keep up the great videos. Subscribed!
Thank you so much!
I always love watching your videos! Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome! 😃
Never seen that cassette deck, if I ever own a dual deck would love to find one of those. Great system !
It’s amazing!! I wish you luck in finding one! 😊🤞
Wow a girl and vintage stereo equipment, that is all a guy needs. i have a lot of videos on my channel of my vintage boombox collection, i also have some vintage hifi's on there. also my main stereo, my Kenwood M85 with 2x 14 band spectrum analysers from 1991.
You have a very nice setup great to see young folks getting into vintage HI FI gear.
Thank you so much!! :)
magnifica.
I love this video, simply because it doesn't dig into all the guts and specs of the hi-fi universe. There's no judgement, no scrutinizing frequency response, no arguing about room acoustics - Just a passion for music and cool old stuff.
yesss what I love 🙌
I have DA1000. I bought it in 1983. One of the first in the country. Only two CD’s available at the time. Still have them as well. Unfortunately the drawer mechanism gave big problems. Fixed it a couple of times. Not working properly now. Anyone interested. Open to offers. Sounded great by the way.
Wauw, what a great collection. Very inspiring.
Thanks so much! 😊
OK this is the best system i have ever seen!!!!!! I have several amps 6 TT.s and 3 sets of speakers all hooked up but aftyer seeing this the audio equipment you have makes my system look like a fischer price toys i am blown away always had an admiration for mcntosh ,the dual 5000 i always admired but out of my price range the best i could do was to find and fix a dual 1009sk wow!!! the reel to reel is something i always wanted but have not found a nice one like yours this is like seeing a taste of audio heaven and i hope when i pass it looks like this ,aiways loved audio equipment since i was a young boy ,i also live the automatic TT its the era i grew up in ,i hope this audio equipment gives you lots of joy !!!,i know i could stare at them all day and not get bored ,thanks for sharing this on your vid ,I am glad i clicked on your channel by accident it was worth it WOW!!!!!!!! JRo
Love that Hitachi gear!! Where did you score those components?
Pioneer speakers trash??? Who thinks that, they are at the top of vintage speakers!! Nice setup there, some very cool stuff.
Surprisingly a handful of people 😂 you can see them over on my recent IG post lmao! But thank you so much!! 😊
Hey Geraldine, I am a long time Instagram follower. I agree that someone’s favourite speakers may not be everyone else’s.
Pioneer Elite Series was top of the line consumer hi-fi in it’s day. If you like how it sounds then nobody has an argument about it!
😮
Very nice!! Thank you! :)
Thank You!
Very cool! Love your system! ❤️
Thank you! 🤗
Fantastic ! My dream is to find out where I can find such amazing machines. I'm taking my first steps into the world of vintage devices. They bring us into an intimate relationship with music. I love analogue. Congratulations here from Brazil.
Awesome set up! These Pioneer are definitely not trash!
Thank you! I agree! 😁
Absolutely wonderful
Subbed. Keep it up Geraldine we need more young hifi nerds!
Thank you very much!😊
So great to see a young'un fully appreciate the marvels of analogue past. She's still got the ears for it! Green with envy here... 🤢😃👍
Haha thank u! 😆
That's Quite An Interesting HiFi Stereo Setup You've Got There-Wonder if you know anything about Quadraphonic?
if your not already, i would recommend you get some connections to the ham radio guys for tubes, theres alot of hams out there keeping old boat anchors going, and they can usually find tubes that are hard to find, as well as other parts
Thanks for the info! 😊
Hey! You have such a cool and true vintage setup. Loved your video amd the gear. Never seen the Hitachi CD player and the cassette deck before. Amazing stuff!
I’m here for the wholesomeness of Geraldine’s world and learning and seeing interesting audio artifacts still being enjoyed is icing. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!
Thank you! 😀
Good collection.
Than you for preserving great stereo equipment.
Thankss!! :)
Those Pioneer speakers are truly great.
Excellent system loved the Hitachi's
You have an awesome vintage stereo system. Anyone who says Vintage Pioneer speakers are “trash” is an idiot! Those are awesome. Pioneer made some of the Best home stereo speakers for decades, especially in the 70’s & 80’s! Look up how much they go for these days. There’s a reason! So cool to see a young person have a vintage setup like this! You’re enjoying Real sound
@@vincentpedalino618 Hate Kliptsch. Love Pioneer
This equipment is so much better than the junk they sell these days.
Thx for the nice setup Tour!
My pleasure!! 😁
Wow.
Great to see tour appreciation and investment in vintage stereo gear. Very nice presentation👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
Like your enthusiasm displayed for your awesomely cool vintage gear.
Thank you so much!! 😊
