I remember feeling this way when I was a teenager seeing photo shoots of models in equestrian apparel that clearly didn’t ride. But then I grew up.
Ironically, Bella is an equestrian, so she would probably do awesome in those campaigns.
It's always funny seeing how non-riders hold the reins wrong and point their toes down... but I agree, it's silly to care about that kind of thing. I guess it's a bit different for dancers, though, because it would be easy to hire a dancer for a fashion shoot and they'd probably know how to pose too. Plus, dancers are always looking for more work.
I really appreciate that the host understands the technical difference of dancers in a photoshoot and people with no dancing background. It is significant
But also, it’s the photographer and editors who choose the shot. We have no way of knowing how many shots gave perfectly pointed toes but gave bad face.
But ballerinas are able to hold an expression and give pointed toes, that's part of the art of a ballerina.
Which I think that was her point that if you are going to do a ballet photoshoot then the aesthetics should be done perfectly like a ballet dancer would.
They can take a great model face shot and if it fits they’ll graft the head onto the body shot. They’ve had the skill to do that since forever. I watched a professional do it for a magazine cover shot in the early 90s
This! If the photographer/client/whoever was set on doing a ballet-style shoot, they could’ve chosen a beautiful ballerina or (if it had to be a well-known model) at least had a dancer as an on-set adviser. Someone should’ve instructed Bella to maintain the proper pose.
KK looks absolutely magnificent in that shot. WOW.
I am not gonna lie, I like the podcast but the host sometimes is kind of a hater. I’ve seen this in multiple episodes
How is she a hater when she’s giving KK praises, only things she’s doing is criticizing BH and she’s completely correct on her criticism
@@attractingbliss7276You need to watch the other video to understand. She’s a hater. She’s snarky and annoyed about the most weird things.
I understand what you mean. It’s like when someone disagrees with her she gets snarky. But I guess it’s her way of expressing herself and people can agree to disagree… unless there is like a disrespect towards the guests, I think she is being unique in her field and she brings very interesting questions and topics to fashion (plus representation). If you think about it, she mainly criticize the industry not the people, which let’s face, it is pretty shameful in a lot of aspects.
This is a hater podcast. Every time I see a clip this lady is complaining about nonsense.

This just seems a bit overly negative. Creative shoots don’t HAVE to be uber realistic.
This woman who's supposed to be an 'expert' in fashion doesn't know that models have no control over the shoot.. art director and photographer and the designer choose how to do it. They are the ones who choose the background for the shoot. Models just do what they are told to do. Why are you bashing the model.
Because she lacks any real talent and has decided to make a career of not knowing shit about fuck.
If Bella or Karlie did a photoshoot portraying them in outer space I’m not gonna get up in arms that they don’t have knowledge in engineering or astronomy or even a background in stem field.
You consider this brief moment in an interview to be them, "up in arms"?
@@sugarhoneybunch08what would you prefer, a momentary light banter? It’s not that serious.
My whole point (which you ignored) is that models are brought in to help bring a narrative alive through image. I’m not going to fault them for not having a specific professional background.
Agree, offended over models...modelling 😂 they have to find something to be offended about I guess
Victim hood mentality
I've been saying this for a while. I don't get why ballerinas are so upset about this. It's the nature of modeling, I can't think of any other field complaining about models. It's a photoshoot/commercial, no one's going around scouting carpenters and construction workers for photoshoots either.
“i just don’t like her” lmao.
but anyway, bella wasn’t trying to portray a dancer, she’s just modeling clothes in a dance studio
This lady (the interviewer) will be mad at you for not being mad at what she doesn't like. That's insane. Girl.
I agree with what everyone is saying, that you don’t have to be an expert at something to model clothes inspired by that thing-HOWEVER I do want to say I understand where the people hating are coming from. Because they aren’t just modeling a shoot inspired by ballet, they’re also using poses inspired by ballet and doing them POORLY. So that my critique, it’s not that models who aren’t experts about the photo shoot inspo that day aren’t allowed to participate I think my critique is it’s too common to see models execute things poorly. You don’t have to be a dancer to point your toes, I’m not a dancer but I could do better than that on the ballet poses ya know?
That's a critique for the industry tho. It's the photographers & design houses, the magazines that request certain models. At this is level the models aren't chasing the jobs, they get to pick & choose what they want to do. I personally, am not a Bella Hadid fan. I think she gives as much face as drying paint, just zero personality even compared to her sister who may not walk as well but always looks like she's having a great time, & gives fun, flirty or mischievous looks often when posing or walking. I do wonder if a dancer under contract can pose for a magazine or if it would violate their contracts? Or if they were amateurs or students if it would effect that standing to be paid for work featuring them dancing. If anyone knows, I'd love to hear more
@@kushiellee it’s likely they simply wanted a super model to do it because people like Gigi and Bella are so notorious and household names almost at this point in their careers.
Again I understand the want for a dancer to do the shoot but I see where other commenters are coming from when they say imagine if the photo shoot was doctor themed, do they need to go hire a doctor to do the shoot? Models are allowed to portray other jobs but they need to be doing a better job of it and that isn’t necessarily their fault I agree. It would in my opinion fall on the directors and people behind the scenes not pointing out the details like pointing toes correctly to portray a ballet dancer.
@@TheGrifhinxyou're gonna find a dancer over 5'9 with both the face and the proportions AND the dance technique? Most ballet dancers would never be tall enough.

Why do people have to be offended by trivial things lmao
Victoria Beckham her self said she doesn’t know how to dance. She was always the werkest dancer in spice girls and when did you ever see her make any moves 😂😂😂😂
Exactly, Victoria Beckham is a very weak dancer. They don't know what they're talking about if they think VB is a "dancer".
Could've saved a lot of time by saying you just don't like Kloss. Slightly bitter
Klossy married a Kushner... There's alot of reasons to dislike her now a days unfortunately
Nothing Bitter about disliking someone who willingly married a Kushner and endorses his views. It’s called having principles.
You're all even more bitter. Hate a person bc you don't like there husband? Pathetic

What is with all the hate?! It’s exhausting…
Bella Hadid supports Palestine as it's her father's country. It's political hate behind the curtain.

Omg. "They are posing in suits but they've never actually worked in an office! They dont even know how to present a 4th quarter report!" Said no one ever. Because they are modeling. Its pretend. Balletcore is a term for a fashion trend - its not a lifestyle. Its not real. Up until this video, I thought we all knew that.
@@petalchildPrior video indicates they are talking about the overall shoot, not just poses. As indicated when they talk about being partially dressed or wearing footies.
She says at the end "I just don't like her" so obviously it's about that.
She’s not talking about modeling the clothes. She’s talking about using any sort of dance especially ballet for a shoot with someone who can’t even bring the true beauty of ballet and use that dance to help represent a clothing brand. Scenery matches just as much as the clothing and model.
To people who don't dance professionally it looks just fine....!! She's always trying to go for a gotcha moment and she might just get one thrown on her self eventually if she isn't careful.....!!
Uhhhh. That's a weird take. You can't model something if you've never done the act the clothes are for?!?!?!?!?! Whaaaaaaa. Are you trying to gatekeep wearing certain clothes?!?!?! She didn't turn her feet right.
"The only models who can do this..." are the models they hire for it.
When she says that she means that the photograph loses its meaning. It’s a ballet themed shoot yes? But the model
Isn’t a dancer and therefore does not know how to stand and move like a ballerina, it won’t look nearly as good as if a ballerina modelled in the shoot instead. It looks very awkward and wrong. Like Sydney Sweeney’s ballet photoshoot where she wasn’t wearing the pointe shoes correctly, she was on point in a pair of shoes that do not fit her correctly and weren’t secured correctly to her feet, AND her feet aren’t nearly strong enough to BE on pointe. It was a dangerous thing to do, and could’ve broken an ankle. It’s different when dancers do these shoots, it looks BETTER, it doesn’t lose its integrity, the dancer brings grace and elegance to the photo that truly belongs there.
I understand both POV. Ballet is about a certain aesthetic and has different codes. Doing a ballet shoot without respecting the aesthetic is kinda odd
You clearly don't know anything about ballet. It is not your place to decide whether or not this is offensive.
This podcast often has terrible takes
They aren't selling dance clothes
It’s a modeling shoot not a ballet shoot I don’t expect them to have a perfect turn out in fact their is an art to seeing a model showcase these styles of clothing which is supposed to make the aesthetic seem attainable for their client base. If they want a dancer they would get a dancer and I say that as a dancer!
She is talking about high fashion like she knows a lot with a hair pin on
Some of y’all need to scroll down and go and watch the first half of the video where the guest who is in fact, a ballet dancer herself says she likes ballet core but only if it’s done right then proceeds to hate on Carly Kloss who is doing right and applauds Bella Hadid who is doing it wrong.
Why is it that every time I see you on these reels you are running someone down? It’s so juvenile and unbecoming.
what’s the problem of her making a dancer like photoshoot if she wasn’t ever a dancer? in which place is it offensive? I just can’t understand this cancelling everything and anything habit..
It’s just a fucking picture. Let it go.
But isn't it the point of this podcast? To discuss things like this. Like, it's okay to knowingly have passionate debates about "frivolous" things, sports, anime, fashion photo shoots, like doesn't have to be about serious life/death things all the time.
Imagine arguing this and filming it and posting it
The comments on some of these short clips are so annoying because people have zero context and get up in arms over 30 seconds of a 14-minute conversation. I watched the full video and it's really not that deep y'all lol.
When you’re offended for others who are not offended… 😂
Okay so you clearly don’t like Bella and that’s your issue😂
The vibe of the photoshoot was *inspired* ballet but was not trying to trick anyone into thinking Bella Hadid is a ballerina.😂
When you’re a dancer, it looks weird when someone who isn’t a dancer tries to pose as one. You can tell right away.

Well that escalated quickly 😅 gonna leave this here so I don’t miss anything 😂
These two thinking they are ballerinas... Cultural appropriation.
I love this frustrated energy

Don’t try to make someone have a problem with something they don’t have a problem with…not everyone sees eye to eye…does it make sense if it’s ballet themed they get a ballerina ? Yes…but they didn’t who even knows why…maybe the one dancer they wanted declined or was busy so they got the best models or first person who came to mind lol
I worked in fashion and advertising for many years, and I think dancers usually are not good models. It isn't accuracy we're looking for but someone to be able to pass the feeling and style through pictures. There are exceptions like Karlie Kloss of course. But if you don't know her you can't really tell that she was a ballerina by her photos, because she is perfectly effortless.
I love hearing people who study fashion discuss it. Its not empty. They notice details and I get to learn.
Toots is always looking to be offended.
I agree with the girl on the left, hire a dancer to do these types of shoots. There are TONS of ballerinas with the same physique as runway models that would excel in these shoots. If it’s not a dance wear shoot, why are they dressed in dance wear? Makes no sense.
Candice swanepoel was also a ballerina and was to become one but then she started modelling 😅❤😊
Naomi campbell did ballet. I bet she wouldnt say anything. Karlie kloss is one of the best models of all time, go look up her runway
Why does she not like Karlie?
Possibly politics? Karlie Kloss is married to Joshua Kushner, who is the brother of Jared Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump. Both Jared and Ivanka are devout supporters of Ivanka's dad, former president Donald Trump. Joshua and Karlie say they dont vote for/support Trump, but who really knows.
I really dislike this interviewer.
You just want something to be offended about! Get over yourself!!
As a dancer I hate when models put on pointe shoes when they have zero experience not because there not a dancer but because you can really hurt yourself and as a dancer we work up the strength and physical ability to get out pointe she’s and when someone just where’s them it kinda becomes pointless i feel other dancers would understand this
What an utterly pointless conversation.
Idk who she is but So many shorts of her popping in my feed lately and she has subtle hater energy 💀
Totally agree. Haley Bieber would do better at a ballet shoot, then Bella, Hadid, and your posture and feet give you away so fast you don’t even have to be a dancer to know.
Both Naomie Campbell and Shalom Harlow were dancers before being models
We can’t ask for diverse representation and then at the same time be like “only trained dancers can do a photoshoot in a dance studio.” Acting and modeling are forms of art that generally require people to pretend to be something they are not. I don’t care if they had an overweight couch potato posing as a trapeze artist. If the end result is interesting, beautiful, thought-provoking, whatever, then mission accomplished, art was created.
Wow I love Karlie Kloss. But I didn't know she was a dancer, me as a professional ballet dancer seeing people doing dance moves when they are not dancers are very cringe. I don't like in a shoot or in movies is just sad. But Karlie got my respect she is amazing.
You all should investigate the ballet studio and ballet teacher who taught her in STL. Guy was a huge creep
Lol it's always funny to me when non models, non photographers, and not even a designer is trying to make harsh criticisms like this. Girl get out of your own way.
I LOVE the Black Excellence Ballerina discourse 🖤
At this point, she is just hating...
even as a gymnast, that's wrong. pointed toes.
Karlie has done some incredible print work, like it or not. The late 2000s in general gave us some of the best models ever, regardless of diversity. Real ones know the top-models of the mid to late 2000s trump them all, even the 90s supermodels, and deserve the supermodel title more than even the Big Five do. Not their fault most of them were Russian and were therefore ignored by Western media. They worked and overcame like no model had worked until then, or has since then. Karlie grew up in that school, she earned her dues, and you can see it in her work. With Karlie you get quality because she's made a name for herself among the best. Bella is a nepo baby, even if she's beautiful, she would not have stood a chance against them
It’s a vocal minority online… because of the dancers I’ve talked to? They could not care less.

Shes giving HEAVY Candace Owens Vibes
@@mollyfarrell. then that would make her EXACTLY like Candace Owens...so I wouldn't go that far
There is a difference in how dancers photograph, because dancers are trained to have a fluid sense of their bodies, a keener sense of what its doing, and how to perform beauty with it. It's not a BIG deal, but it's a difference an eye for quality is going to notice and insist upon.
This reminds me of watching America’s next top model and Tyra constantly told the models they needed to point their toes and use their whole body to model. She would also tell the ones who were dancers to stop posing like dancers because they looked like dancers instead of models.
If you know, you know why we do NOT like karlie kloss and her husband!!!
I get what you're feeling. I was a teacher, and most t.v. shows and movies create classrooms that are nothing like the real thing. I have learned over time to let it go. It's just entertainment.
Also, meditation is often made fun of on t.v. or in movies. I know how many benefits a regular meditation practice offers.
But, people will do it, or they won't.
eveytime i see a clip from this show the host is always disagreeing with the guest. At this point I almost feel like they should reclassify these as debates not interviews
"I just don't like her" sounds like a very "valid" justification.
Keri Russel was a great ballerina and was in a photo shoot where she did a perfect split leap - or maybe she was a gymnast because I was a gymnast and appreciated it. Also Britney Spears did back handsprings and walkovers in her performances for years - not ballet obs but it was cool that she had that type of athleticism
In advertising, photos are to sell. Not everyone will know things like the feet are wrong, hands are wrong etc.
They chose Bella for their reasons.
The condescending tone on irrelevant matters is just amusing to me
That lady is so beautiful. The one with her hair pulled back
I'm a long time yoga teacher. I see photo shoots and advertisements featuring models in yoga poses and in meditation and it is obvious to me that NOBODY at that shoot has ever done yoga. Even just in seated meditation poses, the posture, the chin, the mudras are way off. They have absolutely no idea. Do I get all twisted about it and organize pod casts to complain about how these non yoga people should not be allowed to earn a living and do their photo shoots ? They should have hired real yoga teachers for the shoot ? Do I have time for this kind of BS ? Some people just like to swim in their own self produced ocean of negativity and hate to try and elevate themselves.
"...I just don't like her...." Someone needs to grow up.
DIONE is ALWAYS OFFENDED...what has she done in her life? Oh ya...NOTHING
Candace Owens is that you?
As a south asian dancer with no background of ballet, I laugh when I see this. Ballet positions are NOT "the standard". They are weird and awkward when perceived by people who don't do ballet. When my mum sees people walking on the street with turned out feet, she laughs. She thinks they have a physical abnormality. I have to point out that that person probably did ballet.
Bella is not a ballerina, they just used her because she is a Hadid

gatekeeping? i think the term is criticising
This was sarcasm right? Just a play on words about her foot being sickled/not on pointe…
The primary reason people care is that it can actually be difficult to find jobs as ballerinas. So when there are countless capable ballerinas out there, it’s kind of odd and painful to see these models who look horrible being hired instead of
It’s not pointless
Instead of hiring a model to role play a ballerina, hire a ballerina who models (which is most of them)😂
