The long-term capital gains on stocks and equity mutual funds are taxed at 10% if the gains on the sale of listed securities exceed Rs. 1 lakh (as per Union Budget 2018) and the short term gains are taxed at 15 percent In this video 20% which was before 2018
Mrunal Sir really deserve for padam shree award. If bloody Super 30 pseudo fame Anand kumar (sorry to say that but i know his fake n fabricated fame because he is from my locality) can be highligted by our former prime minister Mr. mute Manmohan Singh . wich Mr Anand did not deserve it . then why not Mrunal sir should be rewarded, because he is serving in real manner by providing free education, not for only job, infact for average knowledge wich every indian should hv. Bdw; a real philanthropist doesn't required any appreciation , they know better what is real appreciation i.e. to see d backward student at top govrment post,...! @Mrunal sir: I have one doubt rgarding following qstn: CGT is an example of indirect tax levied during sale of capital assets. (WRONG) During such transaction, Seller of Capital assets, is required to withhold the tax. (WRONG) But u told while explaining TDS tht tax will be withhold at sellrs end and thn paid to govt. Please clarify.
+abhishek tripathi theoretically it should be like buyer needs to pay the withholding tax... but in real seller pays it. we need to go with the theory.. I guess the students studying in there are dumb.. they didnt even ask for once which actually is a genuine doubt :D

Yes. But that is only when Securities Transaction Tax(STT) is paid at the time of selling the shares. Currently STT is payable only on selling share of Listed Companies. So if shares of an unlisted company are sold Capital Gains Tax will have to be paid as STT is not payable on unlisted shares. In this case Hutch India CGP Investments or Hutch India both were not listed on any Indian Stock Exchange. That is why they may have demanded CGT.
