Love it I'm going to try native wild Hawthorne cuttings like this. I've had no success with other cutting methods. I will also try native gooseberries here in Northern Ontario. It's going to get prickly over in my homestead all native is the goal. Great tips. My wildcard is if I get my Cornus Florida making it through winter in this Carolinan zone. My hops. Pecan and coffee tree saplings are in their 3rd years planted in my forest growing slow but steady.
@@HagonjonesHomestead I'm following your directions today, collected some branches. I don't have a greenhouse but I have a Bunkie with large windows. When the cutting are germinating in the clear bins phase 1, do they need to be protected from freezing (I don't warm that back Bunkie)?
100% need to be in warm temps. I have a south facing window in my basement i use. I put a table in front and add supplementary light on a timer. Could be as simple as a clip light with a 100W bulb. 20 Celsius + will help the roots grow.
THANK YOU for sharing!!! Wondering if you have tried working with sugar maples? I tried 2 growing seasons (40 saplings each time) & failed 100% each year 🤷🏼♀️
I have an earlier video on Maple trees, but I also had mixed success. 5 out of 25. This year I am trying again but I soaked the seeds for 48 hours before cold stratification. Not sure if it will help !! Mike

Amazing. I have had lots of success with Gooseberries!! Most “softer” wood shrubs will work just fine.
Good luck.
