    I agree. It's time for the Bishops to stand up and lead the flock.

      Two things can be true, Bishop was right to bar her from the Eucharist, and also most Republicans and Democrats alike reject the Eucharist so for most people it is purely a political move

    The ignorance among the Catholic clergy and episcopate is nothing short of extraordinary. This is not a complicated concept. It is good that there are those who will hold fast to truth in love with courage.

    • @kdmdlo
      @kdmdlo 2 роки тому

      Well, then I'm glad you're not a member of the clergy. To reduce the state of someone's soul to a simple black and white assessment ("this is not a complicated concept") is simply anti-pastoral. Denying any Catholic Communion is a serious matter and should be approached only after much prayer and work (to get the person back in union with the Church's teachings).

    • @stephenjohnson9632
      @stephenjohnson9632 2 роки тому

      @@kdmdlo Yes, of course it is not to be taken lightly at all. Years of ignoring an archbishop’s call to repentance only to push forward radical abortion legislation for an up-or-down vote on its own merits alone cannot be viewed via any objective standard to be anything but a complete disregard for and open rebellion against Catholic teaching. Withholding communion was not a step Archbishop Cordileone wanted to take, but for the sake of her soul (and his and those of the rest of the flock entrusted into his care), he had to. If she won’t even listen to the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of the Church, then she should be treated as an unbeliever. Read Matthew 7:15-20, Matthew 18:15-18, and 1 Corinthians 11:27 and from the CCC “1415 Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance.”

    • @kdmdlo
      @kdmdlo 2 роки тому +2

      @@stephenjohnson9632 Yes, the Archbishop did his job in good faith. He worked, over the course of years, to move her on this issue. He prayed and fasted over it. And, as a final step, has opted to withhold the Holy Eucharist (a move I don't disagree with, by the way - at this stage of the game). But to hear the many commenters here, you would think that withholding the Eucharist should be an automatic first step ... which would do nothing but harden her heart and push her away (the opposite of saving her soul). A good example of this was your initial post: "this isn't complicated". Well, yes, it is complicated. Separating someone from the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ is a complicated decision. I respect the Archbishop for making the decision but I also respect how hard he worked prior to making that decision. It's the mark of a good shepherd.

      @@kdmdlo Apologies for the misunderstanding. When I state “not that complicated”, I meant that “yes, the archbishop has this authority and yes, there are times it must be exercised as the last resort before formal excommunication to help bring the person to repentance.”. I certainly did not mean “do bad thing A and automatically be denied B without any discussion”.

    Do you think we made a mistake by laying down the Triple Crown (the Papal tiara)at the Second Vatican Council?
    It wasn’t supposed to be about the glory of man but is a symbol of the authority of the Church and its Divine Mandate to bring about the Glory of God by teaching and guiding the world to Christ and bringing all to Salvation through His Church.
    The Pope, bishops, clergy, religious, and faithful need to support each other in repairing the faith and work to repair the damage caused to the world.

  • @kdmdlo

    I think people ought to take a pill. Bishops have a sacred responsibility to shepherd their flock ... and that means taking individual cases, one-by-one, and dealing with them to the best of their ability. Lots of things happen out of the public eye (e.g., in confessionals) that you and I don't know about. We need to trust our bishops in these cases - trust that they are cooperating with the Holy Spirit to do what is right ... and to actually save each person's soul. This isn't about making a public showing - getting up in politicians' faces who support choice - it's about saving their individual souls.

    His name should technically be pronounced "cor-dee-lay-o-nay" not "cor-dee-lee-o-nee." But I think Bishop Cordileone does pronounce it the way you guys said but that's not actually how it's pronounced in Italian.

    This right here is one of the reasons why I am not Catholic. 🙄 it really irks me that Catholic Bishops believe they have the authority to deny certain people who they deem unworthy of receiving God's grace. God's table is open to all who believe. We all sin. We all fall short of the grace of God. So how dare they deny it to any one of us sinners.

      "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself." St. Paul

    • @jimisoulman6021
      @jimisoulman6021 2 роки тому

      @ First off this is St Paul and not Jesus. So we need to follow the spirit and message of Jesus where they appear to differ with St Paul. Regarding the passage, to me it is about believing in Christ, what he has done for us, and how we need his grace and love. It's about submitting to Christ not the church. 🤷
      Also as an aside, divorcees are denied communion in Catholic Church's, as are unconfirmed Catholics...so are you saying all these are unworthy of god's grace?

      Nobody is forcing you to agree with the ways of Catholic church. I assume that you are not trying to participate in communion in a catholic mass. Pelosi is. She is aware of the rules , she just chooses to ignore them.And yes we all sin. Not all of us are proud of our sinful ways

    • @jimisoulman6021
      @jimisoulman6021 2 роки тому

      @@Bohem401 but the rules are to my mind against the spirit and message of Jesus. They are wrong. Whenever I read a story of any believer being denied access to God's table because of man made rules - yes these are man made rules - I bristle with irritation. God's table is for all who believe in him irrespective of these sins. Christ comes before the church here not the other way round.
      No prizes for guessing I am Christian but not Catholic! But of course I can express my views here.

      @@august7583 I have read the Didache and while it is an interesting document it is dangerous to follow it and not the spirit and message of Jesus Christ. We have what Jesus said and preached in the Gospels. On the matter of denying people access to God's grace, did Jesus deny anybody who came before him and asked for mercy? No. So why should we on his behalf? Just saying...🤷
