Yeah - I hear that scene was the only thing that was added on after a suggestion from Disney people that by that stage in the episode we'd been focusing too much on Ruby and they thought it would be good if they could add something focusing more on the Doctor.
If RTD is still going with the perception filter angle (technology that hides objects in plain sight), the officer would have seen the dematerializing TARDIS as less important than his girlfriend saying yes.

Great reaction, thank you so much. This episode means a lot to me, because my Mum fostered children for 30 years, dearly loved everyone and provided such a safe and secure environment. She looked after over 100 babies. The second reason I love this, why? It is of course Doctor Who. My first episode was 1978, the great Tom Baker, and it has got better and better every season. Mrs. Flood’s identity is really intriguing to me. She knows about TARDISes, but didn’t recognize the Doctor’s TARDIS until it took off. She knows the Doctor and has even traveled with him given the looks she gave the TARDIS and Ruby. So she’s been with the Doctor but it’s been a really long time since she’s seen him. That would only leave 3 options: Romana, Susan, Missy, or some other companion that wasn’t shown on TV.
I understand that general shape of Sonic screwdriver is iconic, bit some people are too judgemental of new one, when we had sonic sunglasses on Capaldi)
My Xmas day was March 13 when I watch the hdd recording, as I was away for Xmas. Mrs Flood is played by Anita, Lady May (born 29 April 1949), known as Anita Dobson, an English stage, film and television actress, and singer. You might know her husband as now Sir Brian May PhD in astrophysics, lead guitarist of Queen.
Fun Whovian Fact: The building where the snowman's head falls off the building is the same building that was in Episode 1 of NuWho, "Rose" where Rose meets the Doctor for the first time. Also, on the BBC, they have said that Spring 2024 will be May 2024 for the new series.
Red, ruby, scarlet, cherry, and rose, all shades of red. Also the quote, "I wonder what i would be without you?" The 10th said the same in his last episodes.
We all loved it in our house! The main pluses were the acting and overall vibe, though none of us mind a light plot, especially at this time of year. Taking the first act from _Labyrinth_ made me smile (I thought there was a touch of _Baron_ _Munchausen_ too), and the switch into _It's_ _A_ _Wonderful_ _Life_ was really appropriate for Christmas (Ruby's mum did a great job with the shift). It didn't hurt that my wife was also adopted as a baby, and that we know people very much like Cherry. I think I'm going to really enjoy 15. The spiking of the goblin king was the only sizeable minus for me, I'd rather the Doctor find a less violent solution, but that's not a dealbreaker. As for the sonic screwdriver, I'm more affected by how it's used than what it looks like. The jury's still out on that.
its a pretty damn strong first episode. very comparable to rose intro. also love the musicality they've been bringing to these episodes. even giggle had a plot element be musical notes. im hoping 15 will have a musical episode.
Only three things bugged me about this episode. First, why did it take the Doctor so long to realize he needed those gloves? He's been dangling from things for millenia, and he's only just thought it would be good to have something to help in those situations. The Fourth Doctor would be pissed. :P Second, was I the only person waiting for Darla to find some of the goblin seasoning in the baby's wrap? Third, I was left oddly unfulfilled when the Doctor didn't call Kate to ask her to fix the flat. Other than that, it was a pretty solid episode. While I'm here, people are going nuts trying to work out Mrs Flood, the neighbour who knows a TARDIS when she sees one. People are saying she's River, the Rani, another version of the Master...Personally, I think she's a red herring thrown in by a mischievous Russell T Davies. Her story is simple; she worked at UNIT in an administrative capacity when Pertwee was exiled, 50 years ago. She would have learned all about the alien scientific adviser. These memories then settle into her sub-conscious over the years, laying dormant until she saw 15 disappear, when it all came rushing back to her, hence the surprised dropping of the groceries. After that, she knew exactly what was going on. An alternate theory is, with Ruby's parentage unknown, she was placed there by UNIT to keep an eye on the child in case she manifested some weird powers.
I am absolutely excited for Ncuti Doctor and i am really looking forward for more flirtatious Doctor, a bit of Captain Jack so to speak There were snippets of future episodes in British version and it seems we will get something like this, and i bet it will make some people maaad)
Ncuti was the easy MVP of the episode, although Murray Gold hit hard with that score, and Ruby's dynamic with the Doctor is top notch. Has to be said I don't think there's ever been a miscast Doctor. Maybe some less than perfect writing in the past, but ultimately the person playing the Doctor has always been a great choice. Great to see Ncuti continuing that streak (not that there was ever any doubt!).
She's a real person she hosted big Brother long lost family and this time next year which is a show about making a goal and meeting up a year later to see how it went Davina McCall
the new series returns in May 2024. So we got 5 months to go. Specific date still has yet to be confirmed though. glad you had fun with this christmas special. it was a fun intro to ncuti and his new companion. I’m excited to see more of 15 and Ruby as they def show promise together with both the fun and emotional moments. The last moments before ruby enters the Tardis was really nice and the musical score was really good too. I love your doctor who reactions, I binged them all. So nice to see you having fun with the series. you should definitely react to more of the whoniverse whenever you have free time. i would love to see you react to SJA, Class and more random episodes of classic who in the future. i saw your Torchwood reactions too and i loved them. 15 and Ruby definitely show potential. I haven’t been this excited with a Tardis team in a long time. Ncuti has really impressed me so far and I’m excited to see where we go with him :)
When will we get your reactions on the new season? Hopefully soon after the finale? (I know, you're probably posting them on the Patreon, but unfortunately I only follow a couple of the shows you do so it's too pricey for me.)
I'm glad that there is someone who liked the episode like me. Who d say his opinion after watching it and not after reading something in internet. I saw in YT only hate to this episode sadly, because there is a 5 sec dancing scene.
To be specific, the term "foundling" refers to a child who was left somewhere (and found). Such as, a child being left at a hospital, a fire station, or (like Ruby) a church. So, someone who was more formally put up for adoption in some other way or was orphaned would not be considered a foundling. And yes, the score was awesome because we have Murray Gold back!!! 🥰
Are u done with Doctor Who bro? Would be understandable after the Chibnall era however the current episodes are great and it would be great to see your reactions👊
Nah i think the policeman like rose from the specials and ruby here suffer from bad writing rather than in universe knowledge of things. They dont act correctly when seeing wild shit.
Also ik you’ve reacted to some Doctor who extended things, can you please react to the ballad of Russell T Davies and also the Tennant exit party tribute i feel like you’d have fun watching those
I was excited for Ncuti ever since he was announced as the next doctor, and the my excitement was cemented with his performance in The Giggle. Hence my hype for this ep was high, and it did not disappoint! My second fave Xmas Special after 'The Husbands of River Song', which really surprised me! Knocked 'A Christmas Carol' to third and I LOVE that one. I remember being worried about Ruby due to her similarities to Rose (prior to the ep release) on a surface level. She's also blonde, has a 4-letter name starting with an R, and idk how old the character of Ruby Sunday is supposed to be but Millie's age of 19 (is Ruby meant to share that age?) is the same as Rose's character's age (at least at the start). And I did not enjoy or like Rose (she had her moments, but overall I wasn't a fan). I was chanting 'pleasepleaseplease don't be another Rose' lmao. At least rn, she's worlds different, and I'm quite liking her so far. I hope a romance doesn't happen.
Mrs Flood is ... weird, earlier on she complains about the Tardis, she's annoyed it's in the way, she's shocked when it vanishes. Then you have the ending.
I mean, not all TARDISes appear like a Police box on the outside. So, a lot of people think she knows what a Tardis is, but she just wasn't aware of the Doctor and his particular Tardis.
I always found it aggravating whenever I mentioned that the doctor should be someone who isn't a white guy considering that it's been a white guy over and over and over and over and over again... I would constantly get people tell me It shouldn't be about race or gender it should be about acting quality and I'm like well if it was just about acting quality and wasn't about race and gender already then it would have been someone who isn't a white guy at least once or twice I mean the number of actors who were absolute nobody's or at least not a common household name prior to being the doctor is pretty much all of them like I know this new doctor has some decent acting experience under their belt in a decently popular series however even he isn't a household name until probably now. I mean the odds of the best actor for the role being a white guy that many times in a row without any possible other actors including super famous ones or not famous ones plenty of people who could have done phenomenally. Sorry just had a rant about that. Found it hilarious that if they actually sat back and thought about it for a minute their own argument proves that it clearly was about race and gender prior and that's the reason we need to again make it about race and gender and intentionally look for those good actors who happen to not be white guys.
The only bits i liked in this episode were the grandma and mother. They were great. Not sure about ncuti atm, maybe he will improve in time but he seems too human atm for my liking. I always see the doctor like matt smith, kind of normal, kind of odd, not quite human.
I absolutely loved the Doctor Who Christmas Special "The Church on Ruby Road"! It was a fantastic episode filled with suspense, emotions, and of course, the Doctor's witty humor. The storytelling was top-notch, with an intriguing plot that kept me hooked throughout. One of the highlights of this special was the exceptional performances by the cast. Jodie Whittaker continues to impress as the Thirteenth Doctor, bringing her own unique energy and charm to the role. The supporting cast members were also brilliant, especially in their portrayal of the various characters they encountered on the Ruby Road. The special effects and visuals were stunning, especially during the scenes inside the church. The attention to detail was incredible, and it really helped to create a sense of immersion in the story. The eerie atmosphere and mysterious happenings added to the overall excitement and kept me on the edge of my seat. Additionally, the emotional moments in this episode were incredibly well-executed. The Doctor's interactions with the people on Ruby Road were touching and thought-provoking, highlighting the show's ability to tackle deeper themes while still providing thrilling adventures. Overall, "The Church on Ruby Road" was a captivating and enjoyable Doctor Who Christmas Special. It successfully blended elements of sci-fi, mystery, and drama, and left me eagerly anticipating what's to come in future episodes.
This episode was very much a hit and miss for me. I'm digging Ncuti and I think Millie Gibson will make a good companion but I wasn't a big fan of the musical part of the episode. Also, I think one problem with this new era so far is that it always seems too easy how the villain is defeated. It always feels very convenient... maybe that's just me. Also, yeah the new sonic looks like the Click remote, I'm not a fan ahaha.
Yeah, agreed. The music was a bop, but I feel like they've been overusing it lately. The only musical piece in the past few years that didn't feel out of place was the one with Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker - and that's because he is supposed to be absurd.
Truly amazing to have Murray Gold back doing the music. P.S. As a Brit let me say, do not come to Britain. It's a dump. London is a vastly overpriced disappointment and it's the best we have to offer. Buy a house instead.

@@corvacks8924 flood, pond, river. You can do stuff like that with anything lol
Thank you for your reactions, they always make me smile.
Made my day! Great reaction, big love from the UK!
Goblins and the actress that played the goblin in the cap played Po in the tellytubbies
Yeah I saw that
@@fayesouthall6604 I was telling failwhale he wouldn't have seen unleashed the behind the scenes show
I love this doctor so far, im just so confused why the sonic went from 14's masterpiece to what looks like a sonic castanet(?)
Oh! you so get it buddy...
I signed up in 1963,
"one of the originals you might say".
And seeing and enjoying your comments and reactions over all these seasons, y'r cool man.
Yeah! put you in the writers room 😂
I just remember you saying not so long ago about a "brother" Timelord driving the TARDIS??? It's gonna be interesting seeing him get involved with people pre 1950's. But it's gonna be a hoot infact, because it's in the magical hands of Russell T.
The RTD2 era will be spoken about way into the distant future.
RUSSELL,
the patron saint of gay men,
(WHOOP WHOOP)
leading the way.
He's the man.....
Yawl better be listening
Yo Disney!, this is the way we do it over here....
Yeah buddy get you're ass over the pond, it's all waitin' for y'
😂😅😊
How did you come to the conclusion that she travelled with him or even that she knows him?
I understand that general shape of Sonic screwdriver is iconic, bit some people are too judgemental of new one, when we had sonic sunglasses on Capaldi)
Yeah they were dumb too, maybe more so lol.
It's quite late but THANK GOD YOU WATCH IT, SO EXCITED FOR MAY!!!!!!
May is when the new season starts.
At 3:35 that’s the department store that ROSE worked at!!
I just cant get over the fact that the new sonic screwdriver is a remote💀 i dont know how im gonna get used to that...
its a pretty damn strong first episode. very comparable to rose intro. also love the musicality they've been bringing to these episodes. even giggle had a plot element be musical notes. im hoping 15 will have a musical episode.
RTD has said he is working on a musical episode at some point

They cant not give us a full musical episode after this right?
Hey man, hope your holiday was great!! 😊👍👍 Excited for this new season
I am absolutely excited for Ncuti Doctor and i am really looking forward for more flirtatious Doctor, a bit of Captain Jack so to speak
There were snippets of future episodes in British version and it seems we will get something like this, and i bet it will make some people maaad)
This episode was so good i can't lie, such a fresh feeling
Member the Davina Droid in Series 1? That’s her
She's a real person she hosted big Brother long lost family and this time next year which is a show about making a goal and meeting up a year later to see how it went Davina McCall
I dont know what you mean with heavy loading at the end, he literally explained what they do earlier in the episode
You're the first reviewer I've seen that's pointed out how wild telling someone "my bad luck started when I met you" is. Like what the fuck lady lmao
It really feels like Doctor Who is back!! Another great reaction
Fan theory ruby is the daughter of the ranni when she chameleon circuits herself
the new series returns in May 2024.
Excited to watch Ncuti’s Dr Who, but don’t like the new Sonic Sky remote! Oh well…
its actually fire 🔥🔥
yessssssir!
If the Doctor and Ruby were a Subway sandwich (0:59) what sandwich would they be?
Steak and cheese!
Will we (or shall I say), when will we get your reactions to season 14? 🙏
"I am learning the vocabulary of rope!" Only on Dr Who 😊
Aye I just finished watching it myself and can’t wait until May!!
So Mrs Flood and the policeman are two characters non-plussed by the Tardis. Hmmm....
Ncuti doesn't have a singular look he has a different outfit every episode it's his thing
It looks like the remote from click
Mrs Flood is ... weird, earlier on she complains about the Tardis, she's annoyed it's in the way, she's shocked when it vanishes. Then you have the ending.
I mean, not all TARDISes appear like a Police box on the outside. So, a lot of people think she knows what a Tardis is, but she just wasn't aware of the Doctor and his particular Tardis.
Love it love it love it a top reaction as per usual failwhale
Thank you! Btw, you dropped this 👑
Lets go 🎉🎉🎉
Let's go!
4:35 personally I don't see the 9 in him. He was way too nice for that.
Ncuti had it for the Go. Unlike Jodie, who NEVER had it. Welcome 15
11:10 ~ 🎵🎶
I think the sonic is fine.
I really like Ruby
Where u at lad new who out 😢
I always found it aggravating whenever I mentioned that the doctor should be someone who isn't a white guy considering that it's been a white guy over and over and over and over and over again...
After only ever having phallus-shaped sonic screwdrivers it's finally refreshing to have a pudenda-shaped one.
The only musical piece in the past few years that didn't feel out of place was the one with Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker - and that's because he is supposed to be absurd.
really liked the ep but tbh not a huge fan of the new sonic. maybe itll grow on me
