I cannot explain just how furious I would be if I was Regis' opponent in the last game seeing a perfect lethal from a random mr smite that no one else would possibly run in a random shaman deck.
I've been running an Evolve Shaman deck with Smite and that 8 cost spell that let's you summon 3 copies of a minion before the mini set was announced lol... very hard to get the right discounts to pull off the combo but man has it been fun :)
At this point I'm convinced that folks at Blizzard either don't have any foresight capabilities or simply don't care anymore. I mean, Gnoll has been abused for ages now with Schooling + cheap evolve crap (so much that they had to completely remove colossal minions from the evolve pool in order to stop the turn 4 Neptulon shenanigans). They then proceed to not only print a 1 mana discover an evolution, which is plainly stupid in and of itself, but also add a new 10 mana humongous taunt minion that allows for - you guessed it - even more mana cheat. Now instead of dumping 10 mana worth of stats for free on turns 3-4 you get to have twice or three times that amount, while also hitting your opponent in the face. For bonus points, they don't even realize that Neptulon CAN be discovered with the new card despite not being able to be randomly evolved into, which you'd think they would spot within 5 minutes of testing. Who could've possibly seen this coming?
So my ideal nerf for this deck, entirely because I think it would be funny, would be if the gnoll gained the text 'Cannot be transformed' Just because I want the patch notes to be all like 'As you're all aware, Polymorph Mage has been tearing up the meta on ranked ladder, and nothing has escaped its oppression. We decided that Goldshire Gnoll Aggro, as what would normally be the best way to get under those decks, needed just a little bit more of a push to balance the overall environment out in a way we think will ultimately be healthy'. Just some entirely fake nonsense.
This is brilliant and we should recontextualize all patches like this "Evolve shaman has had too many good hits on 5 mana evolves, so we're making theotar 6 mana so they have to think twice on that muck pools. We expect no other repercussions to this change"
Well goldshire gnoll is leaving next expansion along with tiny toys aka what makes evolve shaman good I highly doubt they’ll push evolve shaman next expansion…right
Make the new Mistake amalgam have some ability text that says like "treat this card as if it were an 11-mana minion" or something so it can (Mistake-enly) end up in the evolve pool.
They could make gnoll 11 mana and change the wording to "Costs 1 less for each card in your hand" so it still costs 1 if you have a full hand but you cant roll into other 10 drops
They could make the pool for evolution be one (1) more than what they played the gnoll for. Ex: a 3 mana gnoll can only evolve into a 4 mana card. That way gnoll doesn't lose it's unique effect and people don't get completely smashed by the discover evolution.
I've never understood why this wasn't the default mechanic. The mana reduction should just become permanent the moment gnoll is played. So if it was reduced to 5, it shows 5 as mana cost when it's on the board.
Why do devs allow turn 2 Thaddius?? Do they not see it during playtesting or do they not care that these ridiculous rolls exist? I don't know which one is worse.
I really don't want them to nerf a fun, consistent evolve card because the one thing I wanted was just a LITTLE control on my evolves. I honestly wish they'd make Thadd 9 mana instead just to keep him from being evolved into by gnolls.
Gnoll is just really bad to play against since evolve was introduced in Nathria. Too highrolly and limited counterplay. The location also helps by allowing you to set up before the actual Gnoll comes down too.
Yo Regis, do you think the powercreep in hearthstone reversable in any way? Im really worried by the state of the game those last exapansions. I think since maybe barrens the game is gradually becoming more about efficiency and less about fun and creative stuff. (Sry for my english)

I feel like a sufficient nerf to the deck is to not change any cards, but to change how evolve works.
