Whether or not you like the season, this scene is brilliant. It's like Devoe was having a different conversation with Barry and Joe. He was talking as a regular man with Joe, but as the Thinker with Barry. The amount of clues he dropped was incredible, like "luckiest man alive", "animated" etc
S4 would actually turned out to be decent if we didnt have to deal with IRIS being the leader and giving out orders for everyone whos smarter than her trough the whole season.

His wife is awfully protective, and he seems to not be very afraid of helping give information. I haven't seen this whole episode, but I have a suspicion about who the samurai actually is.
Fredrick Quey DeVoe was a Professor of History and Tracy Bran was in physics so they would have likely had little contact. However, anthropology and history are closer together.
