So happy to see Steve doing well in Norway. I played in college and I remember doing drills very similar to these, they're very exhausting. I miss training that hard but we can't all be as awesome as Clark.

Excellent vid. I'm 21 and 6'4, and about 170lbs. My problem is i am bruised for days after matches on my hips, i have really bony ones! I wear two layers of padded shorts :/ In your opinion do you find your weight more on your shoulders when you hit the ground after a dive, or on your hips? Useful video btw. Also, its good to see you include the shots that get past you, few goalkeepers videos do that and it actually helps to see how they could have been prevented. Youre top class mate!

very good saves, brillant reflects. I am mostly the same as you but im 5ft 11 which needs a good leep to do goalkeeper but my club recently won the cup and there was scouts from wolves. liverpool, man utd and west ham. So the scout from liverpool wanted me and im going over again in 2 weeks for my final trail.

Every time you read the comments at the end of GK training vids its usually some peope saying how your technique could be better. I just wanted to say brilliant work and very inspiring, I think you have a great future ahead of you with good height, build, technique and your age. A very inspiring video with great technique, just a question what pants are you wearing to train in, is the larger fella your training partner (understudy) and congratulations to your coaches for serving well. Awesome!

@Poepaanjebroek That is just a matter of preferance. Every goalkeeper coach will teach his students different techniques, whether it is the K barrier scoop, the L barrier scoop or this particullar technique where you open you legs wide to hold the ball. Personally I was taught to use this technique when i trained with my National Team and the Arsenal Goalkeepers employ this technique as well. If your technique is correct, you shouldn't let any balls go through your legs.

Steve looks like a good keeper technically, and shows a lot of potential in these clips. From the footage in this video, the only elements of note are the position of his hands when setting (down by his sides and sometimes in line with his body, as oppose to in front of the line of the body in order to take the ball as early as possible and maybe a little higher, giving him less work when moving his hands into a catching position. additionally, on his pickups, his legs are very wide, providing..

@17gibin Wel actually I broke my finger when I did not catch a ball correctly even though I had Finger Protection I needed suggery. If you place your hands correctly behind the ball while catching there is nothing that can happen. When a goalkeeper decides to catch a fast shot the hands of the goalkeeper are formed in a bowl with his dumbs and 2 index fingers forming a triangle. This position takes away, or better said spreads the force over a larger surface of the hand. Makes it easier to catch

  • @LehmannDaHero

@FerrariJunior95 I know at least 3 goalkeepers who have had serious finger injuries when wearing fingersave gloves. I would advise to stay away from that stuff because it hinders your finger movements and your feeling of the ball. Worst thing a young and learning goalkeeper can do to him/herself is getting fingersave gloves.

You are an absolutely superb goalkeeper. Technically you are near-perfect, your catching and reflexes are both to a very high standard and I'd imagine that you are one of the best goalkeepers in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. However your footwork is a tad sluggish and as a result you fail to reach low balls quite as efficiently. Work on that and you may have a glittering career ahead of you!!

there isn't a 'set way' in how to play football. different players play their style of the game in their own way, ESPECIALLY goalkeepers. just look at Pepe Reina. He's in the top 3 keepers in the world, but he plays a style of football that's never been seen before from a goalkeeper.
