And as wonderful and the great Geoffrey Palmer was in this, it got even better and more romantic when he had to be replaced by the dreamy Peter Bowles!
I remember watching this as a teenager but never saw this first episode. It's good to see how it started. Also, it's nostalgic seeing and hearing the old thames logo.
I remember watching other shows with Geoffrey Palmer, like Butterflies and as time goes by, as re-runs here in the states, on our public broadcasting stations, and Penelope Keith in Good Neighbors, but have never seen this series before. thanks for posting! 😀👍
There are two actresses whom, when they are "in full flow of righteous anger"; one is Dixie Carter, as Julia Sugarbaker (Designing Women), and the other is Penelope Keith in, well, anything to which she sets her hand. Different styles, but both are magnificent forces of nature!😊
Thank you for posting. I remember watching this back in the 80s on ABC Australia. Anything with Penelope Keith and Geoffrey Palmer was guaranteed to get a run on the ABC!
Thank you for downloading. This was a great TV sitcom with a great cast. The husband Donald, is played by Geoffrey Palmer in the first series and Peter Bowles in the remaining two series.
It’s incredible, this came up on my feed. I thought I’d never seen this before, and considering it stars Penelope Kieth and Geoffrey Palmer, 2 of the biggest sitcom stars at the time, I wondered how I missed it. Then the theme tune came on and it was instant recognition. I still don’t specifically remember it, but I must’ve watched it every week.
These are WONDEERFUL!!!! I never knew I was waiting for this combination of actors my whole life. Thank you so much for posting. I'm trying to watch them quick!
I love that I can catch up on all the great shows I never knew Penelope Keith was in. Started with 'To The Manor Born', 'No Job For A Lady', and the short, one season show where she played a barrister and children's book author. Hated 'Sweet Sixteen', tho.
Interesting...the situations here are incomprehensible now if you're under 35 or so, and anyone under 30 would wonder why she tolerates his awfulness and doesn't just divorce him, especially since it seems like she's been totally capable of getting whatever job she wants just by walking in the door the whole time, and he doesn't seem to be rich.
@@vbt1957 I didn't say I don't find some enjoyment value in it. If there is good writing and good acting in a sitcom I can still enjoy it despite the poor comedy.
Oh my gosh i was 18 years old when this series began i did'nt catch it at the time but the chauvinistic husband was so backward & disrespctful of his wife you would have thought it was 1886 not 1986 🫣🤫🫣🤫 x
I've never seen this ITV comedy series before. But anything with Penelope Keith and Geoffrey Palmer starring in it has to be good. I was right 😂📺

Exactly what I was thinking. Great minds think alike.
Enjoyed this, I like both actors a lot. I keep thinking of Lionel in As Time Goes By, it's practically the same character the way Palmer plays it, ha.

Another great comedy, with two great actors, Geoffrey and Penelope. I'm really enjoying this show. 👋😎👍
My two fave Brit actors! ❤ Thank you. 😊

The Peter Stuart character is played by Benedict Cumberbatch's father, Timothy Carlton.
Series 2 featured Wanda Ventham, who's his mother.
05:45 that switchboard is worthy of a the laugh track all by itself. Helps sell the idea that Ginsburg publishers is stuck in a different era.
Can you post full series please. Thx
I knew the receptionist was familiar... Hilary Gish (now Gish Whitehall).... comedian Jack Whitehall's mum!
Geoffrey palmer was in a lot of shows back in the day😅. Also is that guy not the general in Allo Allo ?
He Was a colonel. Richard Marner
Geoffrey Palmer was wonderful in Butterflies and in As Time Goes By.

the show that I couldn;t remember the name of is "Law and Disorder". Highly recommended.

BIG pet peeve. Drivers who turn to look at the passenger. It only takes seconds. BANG
Is that the same actor as the coronel in Allo Allo?
Geoffrey has passed on
its the german colonel from allo allo
hey there, do you have a copy of the ITV series Moving, from '85? Thanks :)
I'm sorry I don't have it at the moment.
sure it was peter bowles in the second episode
Solo?
Too many ads!
I hope YT aren't spoiling my uploads with lots of ads.
Was this a comedy? 🙄
Are you joking @ joking?
I hate the way the audience laugh at almost anything. There is absolutely nothing remotely funny in this show.
That's your opinion , lots of others would disagree with you . I can't comment myself as I've not watched yet.
