Haley wasn't the first singer for PMJ to do this cover, they had done this song before w/ another singer. However, Haley's performance in Lyon convinced Scott to do something PMJ had never done before, re-record one of their covers with a different singer. My favorite PMJ performance of hers is still Mad World with Puddles, the clown with the golden voice. They sound so good together and appear to be having a lot of fun doing it. It will put a smile on your face.
Tara, I love your reaction videos especially when you break the songs down to different parts and talks about the artist's techniques. Being someone like myself who at a young age performed school plays and even sang in a church choir reminds me of those times when my vocal coach would constantly drive in me all of these accumulated vocal techniques honing my skills. The memorable lesson by far was when a coach taught me to "expand my horizons" and sing different styles from R&B, to opera, to rock. Each style helped me define MY OWN voice. PLEASE keep doing what you're doing and inspiring many young kids to follow their heart and their music! Kudos!

Haleys version of black hole sun from post modern jukebox is a song I keep going back to again and again. If you're interested in looking at amazing vocals from alternative covers try Brass Against - killing in the name of.
Everyone's commenting on Haley when they should be commenting on Ms Simon's commenting on Haley. Not a singer, none of this will help me but learning things anyway. A few here did mention her "Marilyn looks like this sounds" what an interesting helpful observation that is highly subjective compared to describing a particular technical point, the fact that she can reproduce sounds it suggests she would be a wonderful instructor.
What little voice lessons I had at high school I had ...I LOVE that you are teaching the same technics I was taught as a kid ….YOU my dear are AWSUM !!!
Haley is easily one of the best musicians PMJ has worked with in the *many* years they've been a thing. The way she's able to growl and wail without making her voice sound as if it's detrimental is incredible, as trying that for myself would throw my larynx all out of whack and I'd end up clawing it off of the ceiling. To reach into the height of her range to make some of those runs without having to move into head while simultaneously not stretching her voice too thin is another ridiculous talent of hers and I absolutely applaud her for that. I also love how much it showed how you were completely digging that cover. You should react to Jeremy Jordan singing "Ben's Birthday Medley." It's hilarious and entertaining and also *incredibly* well done once you see how some of the songs go together, not to mention he freaking kills it!
Postmodern Jukebox and Haley Reinhart are doing magic together. PMJ are fantastic and they've drawn so much talent and skill together it's insane. So many great vocalists and musicians. One of my favourite vocalists is Morgan James. Another is Sara Niemitz - but I think I could go on for days and still not mention every singer that would deserve it. I must've been at St least five shows and I certainly will go to more if I get the opportunity.
This is the reason some amazing talent will never hit fame. One question. Man in a suit: "So what are you willing to do for fame." Sad thing is, is that less talented people are willing to compromise themselves more for fame and the industry then doctors the production. TV, Acting, Movies etc.
The only reason why Haley isn't a mega-celebrity is that she refuses to sign a record deal with a big major record label although they have all been trying to sign her for years. So the end result is she is criminally underexposed.
How to sing like Haley: Step 1. Be born with a level of talent only a few vocalists in history have been born with. Step 2. Train, practice and perform your craft non-stop Easy as that!
so happy you finally got around to this version.. i believe its the best one on the net myself. she and most of PMJ's singers are fantastic, and the arrangements are so good!
I've watched a lot of reaction videos to this particular video, but I think this has been the best explanation of vocal tactics/skills/performative actions she's used. Super interesting; thank you!
My goodness I'm in love with her, great reaction Tara, we love you muchly girl..This song seems made for you Tara, would be awesome to see you sing this..
Hey Tara! Another great reaction video from you Tara as usual you help me to understand why I love the artists that I love so much. I so appreciate how you help me to appreciate the skill set of my favorite artists. Haley is crazy talented. She can scat, she can yodel. She does rock, blues, jazz and R&B. One of the best duets on American Idol was Haley and Casey singing Moanin'. On Idol, she had big moments singing Benny & the Jets, Rolling in the Deep, House of the Rising Sun and I Who Have Nothing. It was a weird season of Idol. Haley was treated so terribly and unfairly by Jlo and Randy during her time on American Idol. It seemed oddly personal and extremely unprofessional. At the conclusion of that season Mark Anthony, who had been complimentary of Haley, announced that Jlo and him were divorcing. I always wondered if Jlo was jealous, as nothing could quite explain Jlo's mean behavior. Even media pundits like Michael Slezak and former contestants like Melinda Doolittle made comments all season long about the inexplicable poor treatment of Haley.
if you ever get a chance to see them live. Do it. Dove 8 hrs for a concert and it was worth every minute of the trip. It was the most entertaining show that I have seen in years.
Thank-you Have loved PMJ for a long time now.. Please do more??? Not all their covers are as gorgeous as this one, but they have way more hits, than misses.
@@Tarasimonstudios oh! There are too many to pick one alone. I'd say Your best bet, is to think of 5 of Your favorite songs, then look and see if PMJ has done their magic on any (i'd wager there'll be at least 3...lol), Also Haley has other songs with them as well. :-) There's a good suggestion ; PMJ covering Sound Gardens "Black Hole Sun" with Haley Reinhart

Much respect to you! This is my first time watching your videos. It's a great song. Haley does an amazing job!!! Now, for the story and the request. I've seen dozens of "reaction" videos. It's fun for me to see people react to some of my favorites. You had so much professional, realistic and thourough insight to the vocal talent and training, that I simply MUST hear what you have to say about one of my favorite vocal performances. Back in the 1900's there was this band called Pink Floyd. Now, I know they're not everybody's cup of tea. But, included on their album Dark Side of the Moon(which as an album made history), is a vocal performance rivaled by few, if any in rock and roll. The song is about dying, and the emotional response, according to Pinky. The Great Gig in the Sky is the song. Topics I'd like to hear you discuss include: strength and control, range, emotional inflection, oh, and the fact that their are no lyrics. Yeah, discuss the emotional inflection of the words that aren't there. I look forward to seeing the video. When that video gets posted, you will have a new subscriber. Potentially yours, Beardo
Love your style here: the breaking down of vocal technique, giving it structure, and tying results to specific skills one builds on by practice. And the demos you do show not only the points you make, but also that you have the chops/credentials from which to critique. But a suggestion: your mic here is falling way short of the task. It sounds worse than AM radio - tinny, with all lows dropped. I realize part of the audio tone this is from recording amid flat walls and no dampening. But mostly, really, it's the cheap mic. For $100 you can get something 100 times better. And your voice (and videos) deserve it. Go splurge. (And get more followers / customers as a result.)
Well well well, my dear! You completely defy the saying that "Those who can't do, teach." Your voice is fabulous! So impressed you can effortlessly repeat the runs Haley performs so effortlessly! Please react to Haley singing Black Hole Sun. Love that one! Thanks!

Tara , I was dazzled by his tenderness and sympathy! congratulations on the video!
Love your hair today!
Man I remember her from American Idol, really loved ALL if her perfomances and I adore the way she sings.
Also this song 👌👌👌👌
YESSSSS I LOVE THIS VIDEO SO MUCH!!! Thanxs so much for reacting to this!!!
I get goosebumps listening to Haley.
She is so fantastic! I can’t believe we don’t hear more from her. 🌹
Haley is my favorite Idol and one of my fav singers ever.
What ALSO makes this rendition so amazing is that PMJ recorded it on the FIRST take while exhausted on one of their European tours.
Haley never, ever disappoints. I absolutely love her.
LOVE Haley Reinhart. Her cover of Seven Nation Army with PMJ is fantastic too. I'll never understand why she isn't a huge celebrity.
This is the reason some amazing talent will never hit fame. One question.
Man in a suit: "So what are you willing to do for fame."
Sad thing is, is that less talented people are willing to compromise themselves more for fame and the industry then doctors the production. TV, Acting, Movies etc.
The only reason why Haley isn't a mega-celebrity is that she refuses to sign a record deal with a big major record label although they have all been trying to sign her for years. So the end result is she is criminally underexposed.
@@donaldsanders4656 People don't have to compromise themselves to become celebrities. Uhm...you ever hear of the "me too" movement?
I think it is because this is music to listen to. Popular music, songs that become huge hits, are music to SING to.
I’m so happy you finally reacted to a postmodern jukebox video!! They have amazing musicians, and Haley is one of the best!!
Her cover of Blackhole Sun w/ PMJ blows me away every time.
🥰🥰🥰
I've watched a lot of reaction videos to this particular video, but I think this has been the best explanation of vocal tactics/skills/performative actions she's used. Super interesting; thank you!
Thank u! That means a lot!
Check out PMJ's cover of Dream On ft. Morgan James. It's stunning.
I second this motion.
I third this motion.
I fourth AND fifth this motion. Anything with Morgan James really...
However many motions it takes.
I seventh this motion
What a great performance and reactions from Vocal coach. Both so beautiful and talented.
Her styling is wonderful ! Now try PMJ’s version of “All about that bass”
You’re the best instructor that I’ve seen dissecting Haley’s talent❣️
Morgan James collaborations with PMJ are awesome too. Dream on and Maps!
Morgan James is fantastic. As solo artist as well.
Never such control/ so perfect she makes me cry
I love it when she sounds like Betty Boop! Postmodern cover of Halo is a fav of mine.
It is amazing
Omg! I love that you vocally demonstrated what you were trying to explain!
Love it!! Please react to her "7th Nation Army", also with PMJ.
Wow, she is a natural beauty!!!
You should definitely react to Side to Side by Postmodern Jukebox, it's one of my favorite covers ever. Love your commentaries

My goodness I'm in love with her, great reaction Tara, we love you muchly girl..This song seems made for you Tara, would be awesome to see you sing this..
Finally!!! Loooove this cover! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Check out her other covers with PMJ - seven nation army, black hole sun, etc. So so good.
Thank-you
Have loved PMJ for a long time now..
Please do more???
Not all their covers are as gorgeous as this one, but they have way more hits, than misses.
Ok awesome! What do you suggest?
@@Tarasimonstudios
oh!
There are too many to pick one alone.
I'd say Your best bet, is to think of 5 of Your favorite songs, then look and see if PMJ has done their magic on any (i'd wager there'll be at least 3...lol),
Also Haley has other songs with them as well. :-)
There's a good suggestion ; PMJ covering Sound Gardens "Black Hole Sun" with Haley Reinhart

I heard she was sick when she performed this song, but the head guy that plays the piano said try it anyways and she did and it turned out great.
Tara what a beautiful voice you have. That's four times I've heard this tonight I'm so hooked on Haley.
Please react to this: Dream On - Postmodern Jukebox ft. Morgan James (Aerosmith Cover)
YES PLEASE. That cover is awesome
literally just came over to this video to say that! she's spectacular!
Or “Lay Down Sally”! I love her cover!
Yessss! Plz
My favorite MJ cover is "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world"
Much respect to you!
Potentially yours,
Beardo
Can I say that no matter who you are commenting and how much I'm appreciating their voice and technique, yours never ceases to amaze me too
Ok Vanna, I have never seen you wear the same outfit ever, and you have a lot of videos. 😂😂 Hair is amazing.
Well well well, my dear! You completely defy the saying that "Those who can't do, teach." Your voice is fabulous! So impressed you can effortlessly repeat the runs Haley performs so effortlessly! Please react to Haley singing Black Hole Sun. Love that one! Thanks!
Thanks love!❤️
More Postmodern Jukebox! Listen to their New Orleans Sweet Child of Mine cover and My Heart Will Go On. It’s amazing!
Brilliant vocal coach and both give me chills
Even more impressive for Haley, this was their first take when recording the song. She nailed it that hard.
