There is something about you guys, both of you sounding so genuine and personable which I’m quite sure is real. In my mid seventies having spent a life of travelling and living in seven different countries, I feel my life began not so dissimilar to yours. I so love to see you each week, I wish you every success in your journey. Keep loving it, your living in real time ie. “Being here NOW” much love to you both (plus the family) from an old Irishman retired now in Australia. ☘️❤️
Bom fim de semana Thank you so much God bless you 💯% nice 👍👍👍👍
Love the well cover. I always see how Diogo follows you both around and how he fits in so well with Frankie and the cats. He truly needed a loving family and was so lucky to have found yours.
it's always so wonderful to see Uncle Nick and all of his wisdom giving a helping hand, your so fortunate to have him in your life... Great job on the well 💕💕
So love looking at the scenery and watching the animals antics brings a smile to my face your place in Portugal had come a long way well done Nick is a blessing to the community love his channel too bless you both cuddles to the animals
You have accomplished a lot of work, working on the well, the garden, and cleaning the stove chimney getting prepared for winter. Really enjoyed this video. Your homestead has come a long way.
The roof on the well looks great so far. In know from Nick's video that it still needs to be finished. The animals were all so inquisitive, especially Diogo, checking on everyone and insisting that the parcet was his. Loved the shot of Albi at the window when the first rain fell, sitting there thinking Rain rain go away I want to go outside to play But instead I'm stuck indoors Listening to the doggies snores
This is a very interesting video. The procedure of capping the well was a tedious project Iwan was quite brave going down the well wearing the harness. The whole video was so relaxing to watch. I must say that all your work has resulted in a very pretty and well manicured property. I is wonderful to see how Diogo is so full of energy and so fast when he runs and hops. Thank you for sharing.
Watching you two love birds is like watching two old souls living their best lives. You literally live in paradise with your own climbing wall, your own veggies the beautiful fruits of your hard labor. Much love from sunny Florida.
Another lovely video. Thank you. I love how the animals all snuggle up together. It's making want another dog. I also love how the animals follow you around. How lovely is that!
I appreciate how much help you get from Nick, Tim and others but I would like to see you working with local tradespeople and suppliers. What I see is an expat community looking after its own needs with very little integration with the local Portuguese economy and society. I'm not carping, I'm sure the Portuguese you do come into contact with appreciate what you are doing to restore an abandoned property and are grateful for the small boost to the local economy that flows from projects like yours. I'd just like to see the occasional local pop up.
Check out our driveway video from a few weeks back, we chat to our neighbours in that video. We only use Portuguese suppliers, it’s just that with certain jobs, the language barrier can become a problem - we’re both pretty proficient in Portuguese by now but there are still certain situations you’d rather avoid (Tim down a well). It’s definitely one thing about UA-cam.. you only see 5% of the lives of the people making the videos. Iwan broke his ribs playing football in a nearby town that is over half local Portuguese and we’re very much a part of our local community.
@@FrankieOffGrid Sorry I missed the driveway vid, I'm looking forward to checking it out. I wasn't carping or being snidey. I have some friends who have property in Spain and they all use English tradesmen who have moved out there, to do their maintenance etc and even buy their materials and tools from English suppliers (Screwfix etc) whenever they find themselves "back home". This is a shame as they've ended up living in a self contained bubble with very little interaction with the local community. I am sure the local Portuguese must be pleased to see an abandoned holding brought back to life. As for Iwan's ribs, it's possible the ball strike didn't break anything. The pressure contour of an inflated ball is unlikely to be high enough to break bones as flexible as ribs. It's possible that Iwan anticipated the ball coming and tensed up instinctively or as a reaction to the impact, and this tensing tore some of the scar tissue forming from the previous injury. Intercostal muscle damage can be the devil to put right. This link talks about the experience of 2 bowlers who had similar problems getting well after rib injury. Ignoring the surgery stuff, the article gives a good indication (in the medical history of the bowlers) of just how long recovery from rib injury can take. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2579479/ Very best wishes to you both and Iwan's poor ribs.
If you got a higher stump to chop the wood on you would not have to bend over so far and in the long run it’s better for your back. Love your videos and the rain is so good in making the place look so clean and fresh.
I love seeing how differently Nick & yourselves inhabit your bodies, Nick confident around stone & building, Iwan climbing said stone, and a you in the garden & with a pencil.
Hi Carissa and Iwan! Great video, and so much accomplished! Loved the music, the friendship, even the storm. By the way woodpeckers peck on already sick trees. They peck for insects inside. So probably they were infected. Have a nice week!
It’s for drinking water - capping endures no debris (or animals) fall into the well. This keeps the bacterial load down, ensuring the water remains safe enough to drink.
The homestead looks more and more like a home. You could have a mini campground for adventurers to generate more income. Rustic camping in nature and volunteer work. People love that stuff.
Saturday just got a whole lot better, great to see you guys 🏴 ❤ That looks like an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar, met one in my South Wales garden a few weeks ago.
I am quite curious about how close to the house you are able to drive the car to. It seems to me that if you extend your driveway, you would save your backs some strain. Your videos are relaxing and refreshing. I look forward to time spent with you and the growth of your home. Nick and Angie are truly a blessing to the community.
Love the well worn paths. So much love and care has gone into your home place. Great axe Iwan. The animals love being close to you two. Can’t blame them😂.
I just love your videos. Not a lot I can say that is different from everyone else. I love your pets and I can see why you call Frankie ' Sausage ' especially when she was soaking wet from the pond!!! Your home is coming together nicely. So much hard work. Well done.
Awesome that you are well on the way with the well capping and lovely of Nick to help. I got a sneak peek on his channel yesterday 😊 Glad you got through the storm ok. Was it storm babet or a different one? (I know from another channel Portugal is getting hit by Babet too). Babet was kind to us no power cuts, no flooding just what looks like half a tree (it isn't half of it really 😂) in our back garden that missed our windows by inches 😅. Can't get hold of the local authorities yet but they will doubtless say your problem which will be an issue as I am in a wheelchair don't think I can clear the stupid thing up. There is more of the tree threatening to drop. It is annoying I told them nearly two years ago it was almost dead but they have done nothing as per 🤦 Btw the music was beautiful and actually appropriate really it was the build up to a storm so dramatic is called for 😊
Pumpkin soup anyone? I love pumpkin soup! Perfect for grey days and rainy weather. Add a little sherry before serving. I serve it with a good crusty bread and some butter. I've talked myself into being hungry! I think I'll make black bean soup. We call those rain storms "gully washers". Cleaning the chimney once a year is always a good idea. Even if it wasn't an immediate concern, it's taken care of and you'll feel more easy in your mind.
I know here in Blighty for house insurance purposes you need your chimney swept annually by a professional, I get a certificate of him so I am covered. Some people do it themselves but you know what insurance companies are like when there is a claim put in. £45 a year for a big tick in the box is worth it. Plus yours is only a small burner with a small amount of rigid pipe. Mine is about 8m of stainless flexible liner so a professional to do it is better. Love the vids keep them coming 👍
Until your well is sealed you should put a log/wood/ladder, something so if an animal falls in it can climb out. Animals will be curious about the new concrete cover and may investigate too closely

Why did you choose this kind of covering instead of a traditional wooden one? Please explain to an old woman. ❤❤ PS Your music helps to make you one of my favourite channels. Absolutely beautiful. Every time.
Please consider using an old tire to place the logs in to chop them in half (or more) --- this tire will then also STOP THE AXE from going further down. Place the tire on a stack of old pallets to get a good height. Much safer. Much easier.

Love the groves of olive trees on your property. As usual, you guys with the help of Nick have done amazing work improving your land.
Fantastic, it looks like most of the animals were just as excited with a zoomies moment.👍😂
Love that music it suited the stormy day. Look at how far your home land has come so lovely!

Love the way you treat your pets ❤
I love your wood burner❤ Cool style and the shining black surface is amazing. What a gift😊😊😊
It's so good that you have a stove now. Thanks to Nick 👍It will make a big change. Here it was very stormy and rainy as well.
Love watching u guys, good ol' Nick always helping others ❤

Yes same here! The granite there is a bit more solid though 😅
