This background is the best...
Yeah I like it too
It's always amazing how different people's mouth chemistries work. For me black canvendish smooths out a blend and prevents tongue bite, whereas I really have to be careful with bright Virginias because they'll bite the heck out of me if I get them any hotter than a slow smouldering ember.
Yep. Something that doesn't work for me might be fine for you!
100% agree. No problems at all with cavendish (except gloopy aros), but certain Virginias will fry my tongue if I don't take every precaution.
Hey Bradley - see you got a mention in the Pipe Club of London spring edition magazine in one of the articles - definitely international my friend! Great review 🎉
Great to see you back and strong 💪
I need to try this but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I absolutely love Old Gowrie though and have about 10 tins of it in the cellar.
It’s definitely worth a shot!
My wife is temperamental when it comes to room note. My Virginias she doesn’t like, but the most of my Englishes (except Red Rapparee) she is a fan of the smell. She says the English blends have a smoky incense smell to them. Very interesting.
I liked watching the shadows of the birds flying over head. Thank you for the vid. Glad you are well.
Glad you enjoyed it!
To be honest, I like you doing this outside. Shows more personality and connect with your guests. Keep going with this platform. I guess since all my videos are on a motorcycle, pipe smoking reviews, I am use to it. Great video sir. 😊
Glad you liked it! Weather permitting, I will be outside more.
Those are the next booster rockets for the shuttle waiting to be used right ???😂😁
It is good but a little bitey !
Good Morning 😊Beautiful Background 😍 Nice pipe and good tobacco 👍🏼Awesome Description👌🏽 Thanks for the review and sharing your thoughts on the blend 👏🏼👏🏼Have a wonderful day & Happy Smoking Moments 🌬💨💨 Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Great review, Bradley. Spot on with my overall thoughts 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sometimes I feel like eating the tobacco when it smells that good ..but I refrain as I stick it in my pipe.Lastly I find Perique smooths out the Virginia's.Gotta get this stuff..I will wear the long flake around my neck as a trophy 🏆.Would smoke this in my Churchwarden to avoid the bite
You could tie it into a snazzy cravat.
Man, you are so aggressively anti-Cavendish! 😂 Condimental Cav doesn’t bother me at all. I like it in stuff like Fusilier’s Ration, Bengal Slices, etc. I like this blend, too, though Black Mallory is my fave from Rattray’s.
I wouldn't say he's "aggressively" anti-Cavendish. If he were actually that strongly against Cavendish in tobacco blends, he'd say this was horrible and no one should buy it because it has Cavendish in it. Instead he says he enjoyed Marlin Flake overall, and recommended it to anyone that likes VaPer's. 🙂
@@Bannockburn111 Well, I say this in a light hearted context, but if you watch his videos you will see that he will knock most every blend that has Cavendish in it, even condimental.
Don’t forget, I really enjoy 965!

I've watched almost all of Bradley's tobacco review videos (a few old ones I haven't seen); I know as well as anyone what Bradley thinks of Cavendish (other than Bradley himself of course). Not everyone likes Cavendish; get over it.
On all your videos you keep saying that you're not doing " room note". So why don't you stop mentioning it. Either you do the room note note, or you don't period!
Enough' s enough!! You don't have to say over and over again that you're not doing the room note. Or are you OCDC? Please!!
I've been watching you for years. I like your reviews. But it's annoying to have you repeat the same meaningless thing over and over.
I didn't fly off the handle or even a nest. I was just making a statement.
Rattrays Marlin Flake is a staple in the pipe tobacco world. A great blend alongside Old Gowrie and Hal O' the Wynd. 🤙
Can confirm, the Zippo lighter with the pipe insert is spectacularly reliable in windy conditions.
I've not experienced tongue bite with Marlin Flake. Meanwhile, cavendish, boring on its own, adds a light, naturally sweet mellowness that plays well with the stoved virginias and perique IMO.
I have so much of that stuff in my cellar from 2016 🎉
Looks like you are filming from the post-apocalypse
I like Rattray´s 7 Reserve, for me is awesome.
I enjoyed this, but cavendish, for me, has this Diet Coke effect and leaves a bad mouthfeel. The tobaccos in this blend are high quality, I just can’t do it with the cavendish.
I also liked the background setting.
Keep it up ! Thanks for the share )))
It's not a flake... it's a belt.
Indeed a beautiful blend. compared to my favorite Ratray (Hal o the Wind) it's like 5% less in taste
Smell sounds ugly to me , moldy hay yuck 🤢
Your new Surroundings is very Refreshing. If possible do your review more often Outdoors.
Weather permitting!
👍👍👍💯💥
Hal of the Wyn
No Cavendish, No Latakia, No Orientals.
I’d rather have the headlined in my rotation. It’s awesome!
Much rather than Quiet Nights from G. I. Pease or Plum Pudding by Seattle Pipe Club!
😊
Fair enough!
One state over he can smoke schedule 1 drugs in the park, crazy world huh?
What state did he move to? I missed it.
Bradley, Black Cavendish can be either Virginia or Burley in origin. The Virginia can bite, but not in small amounts. The cheap one-sucker Burley is what is used for those candied big bag tobaccos at Walgreens. Unflavored, it can be sooty and no good at all. I actually have a VaPer on order: Dan Tobacco Treasures of Ireland--Limerick. I enjoyed it 25 years ago. We shall see. Hey, what are the tanks and silos in the background? Reminds me of my working days, when I was in and out of such places all the time. Great show today!
Hi, Tom! I can’t remember if I mentioned it in this video or not, but I definitely prefer Virginia based cavendish (more English or European style) to burley based. In small amounts, such as in a blend like 965, I don’t mind Virginia based cavendish at all. Thanks for watching!
@@stuffandthingsyoutube Hello Bradley! I received the Dan T. Limerick and have had a few bowls of it. Not being a Virginia and VaPer connoisseur, I didn't know what to expect. Even though I enjoyed this 25 years ago, that has no bearing on my opinion of it now. In short, it's very good! Quite smooth, but quite full, with a healthy vitamin N kick and a lot of smoke. There is a sweet casing, but without added flavor. A pure VaPer, which I believe you would enjoy.
As always Bradley , excellent review. Hope you are doing well. .
Thanks, you too!
@@stuffandthingsyoutube not too bad. Thanks for asking
thanks for the video and your efforts Bradly.
I can undertsand and know how uncomforting or distracting recording outside and trying to do a review might be.
Just as an idea which I'm sure you have thought of it already, but is recording inside your car an option?
I think it would fix most of the problems you are currently having.
Love!
I can’t smoke this blend unfortunately. It gives me tongue bite.
Nice! Thanks Bradley.
Bradley, have you ever tried leaving the room for a few minutes to gauge the room note? It wouldn't be quite the same as smelling someone else's pipe smoke, but maybe it'd give you a good enough idea to use in your reviews.
I have in the past, but I like the smell of pretty much every pipe tobacco, so that's not much of a gauge! :-)
@@stuffandthingsyoutube LOL Fair enough.
@@stuffandthingsyoutube Hey. Bradley. I don't want to bother you, but this is too funny not to share. I remembered that in his review of Elizabethan, JinInks talks about it changing hands, but the new version was pretty close. Then, he added that this wife made a comment, "Oh, you're smoking that stuff again." She doesn't care for the room note of either version. :D
Love these videos out in the field
Thanks for the review and a Happy 1 st of the May, Paul
Same to you!
For me, cavendish mostly just waters blends down. I prefer zero or barely any, and want to be punched in the face with VaPer flavor. Thanks, Bradley!
I'm similar. Thanks for watching!
I'm always interested to hear your VAper reviews as I am really coming on to them.
The digester tanks in the background are pretty cool, looks like they're repainting them? Have you been kulshan brewing? It looks like a pretty neat spot!
They stripped them down, and I think they’re going to seal them with some sort of rust neutralizer and leave them unpainted. Thanks for watching!
A great review under challenging environmental conditions. Love the post industrial backdrop too. 👍
Thanks! I enjoy the scenery too!
I have a similar relationship with cavendish. I love a few blends with condiment amounts of cavendish but most give a sensation like they could bite. Appreciate the review Bradley
Thanks for sharing!
Hi, Bradley! Thanks for the review and all the cool videos❤ Love your channels. As for the presentation of the flake, in Russia we call it "a belt".
Ah, a good description for it for sure!
On location video review! Really dig it. Hope you’re doing well sir. Appreciate what you do for the pipe tobacco community.
Much appreciated!
I was able to acquire a 100g tin of this with the date of 2017. Opened it a couple of days ago and the smell was amazing. Going to be trying it tonight for the first time!
Very nice!
Reminds me of fruit-by-the-foot, for adults. 😂
Haha!
“It tastes like moldering hay”
