I’ve had one for two years I got for $40 on sale, and I use it to charge my group 29 trolling motor battery and my agm power wheels battery I use for my fish finder. It’s been amazing. I’ve resurrected several batteries other chargers wouldn’t charge with the recondition feature. Worth every bit of what I paid for it.
Bought one of these for 29 bucks at a pawn shop. I didn't even realize "reconditioning" was a feature of home chargers. Found a new hobby fixing old car batteries and couldn't be happier.
This charger brought back to life a Polaris ranger 570 battery I was ready to replace, it reconditioned it, and I am still using the battery going on second winter.
I went and bought one today. The charger works well. I used the recondition mode. I Went out on a date (approximately 5 Hrs) while charging a dead car battery. I came back, and it had cut itself off. I cut it back on, went through the settings, and selected the 2a standard battery charge, because the lcd screen only showed 90 percent charge. Within minutes the lcd updated to 100 percent. It is very light weight, and has solid connections. Overall, I would say it is worth every penny. With the two year replacement, I paid $82. Thanks again Harbor Freight.
I just got one a few days ago $60 and resurrected my lawnmower battery with the reconditioning mode and charged up my van that sits all the time. I thought both those batteries were bad. Very happy with this.
I did another video on this a couple months ago. I have a 48 volt golf cart, batteries are old, but I totally brought them back with this charger. We are traveling now, towing the golf cart with us, been using it lightly for 7 days now without a re charge. Awesome
The 1st one I got was working well till i dropped it from about 5 feet, plugged it in and it was broken it was still new so HF replaced it. It's about 3 years now and it works well, the repair/recondition mode works great and has prolonged the life of a few older batteries. I would recommend.
Really wanted to see if it will recover a battery with a very low voltage. I frequently get batteries that are down to 2 volts or even lower, and the other Harbor Freight smart charger analyzes them and then refuses to try to charge them. I have to put them on an old school dumb charger for a few hours to get a 10+ volt surface charge on them, then that charger will take over. It'd be nice to know if this charger could just do all of that.
Most smart chargers will not charge a battery that dead. I can't say that I have tried it, but I think they need to see about half that batteries voltage to even turn on. I keep a large stack of old school battery chargers around for this situation. Use an old school to get the battery close and switch to a smart charger.
Ok so this may be a dumb question but here goes.... Will this charger work without having to be plugged in? If I'm on the side of the road and I don't have an outlet to plug it in to would defeat the purpose.
No... it takes 120 bolt ac and converts it to 12 volt charge voltage. You would want a jump box. I am currently doing a video on a CAT Jump box with a small built-in inverter that should be enough to operate a small battery charger for a short time anyway...
@@GlennsSpeedShop One more stupid question I can use this to recondition the old dead battery or should I just call it a day. I did put it on this charger but I had to buy a new battery. I'm just wondering if it would be worth keeping the old battery if I can somehow still get life out of it.
I like this charger so well that I bought a second one for my Cushman Project. It is not, however, a miracle worker. I have brought back batteries that I thought were done, and I made a set of golf cart batteries great again but if it is not something that you work with all the time, you may not see any pay back for your investment. A battery that sits around will die.
Yes, July of 2020. This is the production sticker. If you have a round sticker with a 21 year, that's the production date for your battery. I am glad they put the stickers on them. It takes the guesswork out of it.
@@GlennsSpeedShop Figured out I did get mine in 2022 and woke up yesterday to a battery that wouldnt start because it was reading 9 volts. I went and got this charger & set it on Recondition mode and it worked perfectly this morning! Thanks for the review!
It has successfully recovered many batteries, about 1/3 of the batteries I tried it on. I had real good luck with 4 twelve volt golf cart batteries. I used it multiple times on each battery then checked with a digital volt meter. I reconditioned the lower voltage batteries until their voltage was all the same on all 4.
This might be a dumb question but I just bought one today and it is my first battery charger. I bought it for my fourwheeler, is this portable? Or does it need to be plugged up to be used?
Is it portable? Yes. Is it Cordless? No. It needs 120 volt to operate. I have used it many times off my generator at a car show where someone's battery was dead.
easy to swap out with a computer/laptop roller ball bearing fan will be doing that to mine, as will all HF products they need quality grease in every tool sadly

Thanks for sharing. I have 25 battery chargers, I use this one all the time now.
@@GlennsSpeedShop hell yeah about to get one as well!

With a coupon, I paid about $52.00. I use it so much that I wouldn't mind having another one.

I guess it shut off cuz it thought the battery was "reconditioned"?

I'm impressed with your review. You answered my questions. I like the repair mode as an option.

Does the 7/20 sticker mean that you got it in July of 2020? Mine says 7/21 but I don’t think it is possible that it actually got the battery in ‘21

shouldn't you remove the battery caps?
Modern lead acid batteries do vent, no reason to remove the caps unless you need to add distilled water to them.
tl;dr 7:05 reconditioning "appeared" to work based on it keeping charge overnight :| Did it last?

Junk. Only last about half year.. bought 3 and all failed from the fan stopping. Took abart and found a real cheat bushing instead of a ball bearing
