Hi aspiringpro! That's correct. The lightbar as advertised says 24" but in reality, it's shorter than that. Best way to put it is that it's like buying 2"x4"x8' lumber, it's actually 1.5″x3.5″x8'. I hope this helps.
Great video! Just bought a white Tacoma and I've been eying this bumper so it's nice to get an idea of what it looks like. You did a great job. After a year, any issues or concerns? How has the winch fared?
Hey BucksQ, winch is good, I used it once this year so far and everything’s in good working order. No issues and I’m pretty happy with it! I will be installing the bumper wing later this summer so stay tuned. Thanks for tuning in brother!
Hey Mike... total weight of the whole assembly is 160 lbs. Winch with synthetic rope is 46 lbs, LED light bar is about 3-4 lbs, so 110lbs for the bumper guard with the D-shackles. I recently installed the TC-19339w Wings and that's an additional 32lbs.
@@Mike-4547 you’re welcome. If you are considering to install it, I would highly recommend that you install everything including the LED light bar the winch and the highline wing right off the bat. It’s a pain to do it piecemeal.
Can you tell me how far the body armor bumper sticks out from the front of your truck? Trying to see if it will still fit in my garage after the install? Thank you! Looks outstanding!!! 👍
Hi James, airbags will still work and I hope that I will never find out (if you know what I mean). No wires or connections were present or taken out from the crashbar so I'm not concerned about it. My real concern though is the amount of damage that it will cause in the event that I hit something head on as the crashbar is made out of aluminum and very light and this bumper guard with the winch is 165lbs combined so it could cause some damage. However, this is functional and more of a necessity for me vs looks so I wanted to do it. Thanks for tuning in!

Well done video, subscribed! Can you tell us if the additional weight up front is an issue? Did you have to change out your coil springs for heavier or was there really no effect overall?
Hey Dave, yes the added 165lbs on the front end caused tire rubbing so I had to install a levelling kit (Tuff Country 51025) which gave me 1.5"/1.5" lift... check the installation video here ua-cam.com/video/kzCyauO8Sas/v-deo.html and now, tire rubbing issue solved!
Are there any no cut bumpers made for 3rd gen Tacoma? Ive been looking and everything requires cutting. This is my first Tacoma and with my past F150's , Colorado's, and Silverado's ive been able to replace the bumper with after market with many styles with no cutting.

@@aspiringpro just a little part at the bottom, and you can go back to stock easily. Ill pay the extra 300 to be able to go back to stock and not have to hack the shit out of the front of my truck
@@tls5669 I mean why would I ever go back to stock? Besides, a new factory bumper costs only $200 + paint. the only risk is that of messing up during the cutting. You just have to be careful and use the right tool for the job.
Hey thanks iamalemontree! I have the Nitto Ridge Grapplers actually. It was a toss between that and the KO2s. I read a few reviews that the KO2s were a tiny bit noisier compared to the Grapplers so I took a gamble. So far, it's paid off and I'm very happy with it (not that the KO2s would have been a bad choice as you won't go wrong either way). It performs well on paved road and offroad. Crawls through rocks, sand, mud without issues. For daily driving, it's great. No issues on snow or slush or rain either. IMO, I thinks it's even a little quite compared to the factory Goodyear that came with the truck. Also, I prefer the look of it a lot more than the KO2s but again, either will be a good choice. I have the install video here if you wanna check it out: ua-cam.com/video/DCAAkN1qo40/v-deo.html thanks for tuning in!
SMITTYBILT - If you want to hang a winch on your truck to impress your friends this is it. If you plan on being in BFE and needing help, GOOD F LUCK!!!!!!!!!!
This is the combination I am considering for my Tacoma - how hard is it to plug in the controller to the winch once it's all installed? Is the winch accessible by opening the hood, or do you have to come from underneath? Also, about how much did the front end drop with the added weight? Did you get the truck realigned after adding the weight? I still have my stock suspension (TRD Off Road) and don't run oversize tires.
Hey Dan, great questions! Plugging in the controller is not an issue which you have to access from the top by opening the hood. I'm only 5'7" and I can reach in from the front with no issues (at least until I lift my truck). Alternatively, if you can securely mount the controller somewhere in the front bay area, that would be good too so you won't have to be plugging/unplugging all the time. I'm choosing not to do this for now as I'm afraid of losing it. Before the winch/bumper install, I was able to get rid of tire rubbing (on 33's with CMC) but I am now experiencing some rubbing due to the 165lbs added weight causing a drop. I don't want to replace my Fox 2.5 coilovers yet so I am going with the Tuff Country 51025 kit (front strut spacer and rear AAL) which will give me 1.5" lift. This should take care of the rubbing. You'll be fine with your 265s!
@@modXELA You might be able to secure the remote using something like this: www.amazon.com/Quick-Fist-Clamp-mounting-equipment/dp/B006NOC8Q6/ref=sr_1_19?crid=DLGTZFDR1VHL&dchild=1&keywords=tool+clamps+for+truck&qid=1629726333&sprefix=tool+clamp%2Caps%2C224&sr=8-19
Great question Christopher. A mounting plate was actually provided with the bumper system. However, it gets installed where the fairlead is so that wasn't an option for me. I could get a plate mount that flips up when using the winch (which is actually a very good option) but I didn't like the look of it so until I get pulled over for not having it mounted on the bumper, it will sit on my windshield for now. If I have to install a holder, going with the flip version will be a challenge now as you'll have to remove many things to get at the installation points. I hope this helps, thanks for tuning in!
@@modXELA I just got my Tacoma a little over a week ago. I’ve been looking at these exact bumpers for a while. Like you, I live in a state that requires a front license plate. I like the winch idea. @@GoldenFriedTofu The two things that you can bypass to save time and effort is the bumper removal and applying of tape for the markings. These are not necessary at all. Hey Osama, good news is, I haven't had the chance to use it. I took 5 offroading trips this summer and went without a hitch so the winch kept pretty tucked up in there. Bad news is I can't give it any recommendations as I don't know how well it performs. From an installation perspective, it was easy, a definite DIY project. Aesthetically, installing the bumper and winch completed the overall look that I aimed for so at least I have that! =) I will make sure to make a review video as soon as I can. Thanks for tuning in!
About 2.5"... I hope it'll fit! One thing that I did not take into consideration was the amount of drop this 165 lb system to my suspension. Now I'll have to do a lift to rid off the rubbing. Anyway, I hope things work out for you and thanks for tuning in RedBarron!

Hey Troy. It's like buying lumber, the size is actually shorter than advertised. Mine is actually just under 21" and it worked out perfectly as the cutout for the light is 20.5".
Hey P-51 Mustang, for this specific lightbar, there's no option to change beam trajectory so I just made sure it was mounted flush against the anchor points.
Hey silvestre08al... the description says 24" but physical dimension is actually 22". Just make sure that whatever you get, it measures out to at least 22" so you won't have a gap on the sides.
I just used the button switch that came with the lightbar and just stuck it where the rest of the light switches are as I've ran out of empty button spots. You can do an OEM style switch and here's of my videos showing the install: ua-cam.com/video/9O29v6pEuBg/v-deo.html Good luck with your install Johnny Reb! Would love to see how yours turn out!
Hi David, I did not a detailed install video for the lightbar in this video and I just used the switch that came with it but I intend to swap that out with an OEM-style switch this coming spring. I have other videos that demonstrate switch installation for your reference (see ua-cam.com/video/8YI3rP6W0oQ/v-deo.html which is a video on how I wired the roof rack LED light bar). It's pretty straightforward, you just need to run the line for the switch through the firewall and connect the +/- leads to the battery and then the ground.

Hey Laurence it sagged a bit and enough to cause tire rubbing. Unfortunately I did not measure before and after so I couldn't tell you exactly how much it sagged. However, after installing the 51025 Tuff Country leveling kit which is a 1.5/1.5 lift (checkout my installation videos on that), rubbing disappeared so it would be safe to say that it sagged by 1.5" at the most. @@modXELA I wanted to add the bumper with the light bar (no winch yet) on stock tires and suspension was curious on how much it would sag without the winch👀
@@anthonynguyen6009 unfortunately I couldn't say for sure but the bumper guard with the lightbar weighs about 78lbs so my educated guess would be about 5/8" to 3/4" drop. Here's an idea... try placing an object by the bumper that's about 80lbs and measure your height before and after and it should give you a rough idea on the drop. Also, note that if you're not planning to install a winch yet, it would be difficult to do it after the fact. You may need to remove the entire bumper guard in order to mount the winch on... just something to consider.
Hey Musafir, it's pretty decent considering I only paid about CDN$50 for it. It gives out plenty of lighting and it's come very handy when I arrive at a campsite late at night. I really did not need another LED lightbar but since there was a spot for it in the bumper guard, I went this as it had decent reviews and wasn't a bank breaker.
@@modXELA I guess my question should have been, how do you get to the clutch on the winch? It looks like the winch is completely enclosed in the bumper, o how do you get to the clutch or hard connect your winch controller if the battery was dead?
@@kermitec The clutch does not need to be connected as it is sitting on top of the entire unit so it's very accessible. Maybe you're referring to the remote/controller - but this is also accessible. Hey rmhignite, yes I did but I just need to edit the video before I can post. I just got back literally just now from Jersey, Long Island, Pennsylvania and Delaware and I am beat from all the driving so I promise to post by this Sunday. Thanks for your patience!
You state that you are installing a 24" light bar? I thought the bumper only fits a 20".
Thanks for the video. How much do you think the bumper weighs by itself?
Hey Mike... total weight of the whole assembly is 160 lbs. Winch with synthetic rope is 46 lbs, LED light bar is about 3-4 lbs, so 110lbs for the bumper guard with the D-shackles. I recently installed the TC-19339w Wings and that's an additional 32lbs.
@@modXELA thank you for the information.

Hi David, great question... it's just under 3" so call it 3"... I hope this helps and thanks for tuning in, see you again soon!
Perfect. Thank you
Great job! Any concern with airbag sensor?
Hi James, airbags will still work and I hope that I will never find out (if you know what I mean). No wires or connections were present or taken out from the crashbar so I'm not concerned about it. My real concern though is the amount of damage that it will cause in the event that I hit something head on as the crashbar is made out of aluminum and very light and this bumper guard with the winch is 165lbs combined so it could cause some damage. However, this is functional and more of a necessity for me vs looks so I wanted to do it. Thanks for tuning in!

Excellent video sir
Thanks Frank Z, I hope it was useful to you and thanks for tuning in!
What’s wrong with cutting? I think bolt-on-only type of bumper guards are only available for 2nd gen.
Since the winch is hidden behind the bumper, how easy is it to access the winch controls?
Hey Josh, it's pretty simple and I actually posted a demo video ( ua-cam.com/video/TBwP57n0FNY/v-deo.html ) on how to operate this so check it out when you get a chance! Thanks for tuning in!

Great setup!! This will be my next project for my 🌮. How ya liking ur tires? Are they ko2?
SMITTYBILT - If you want to hang a winch on your truck to impress your friends this is it. If you plan on being in BFE and needing help, GOOD F LUCK!!!!!!!!!!
@@AmericanArmed bad experience with Smittybilt?
You'll be fine with your 265s!

where do you reattach the front license plate?
Great question Christopher. A mounting plate was actually provided with the bumper system. However, it gets installed where the fairlead is so that wasn't an option for me. I could get a plate mount that flips up when using the winch (which is actually a very good option) but I didn't like the look of it so until I get pulled over for not having it mounted on the bumper, it will sit on my windshield for now. If I have to install a holder, going with the flip version will be a challenge now as you'll have to remove many things to get at the installation points. I hope this helps, thanks for tuning in!

I just got my Tacoma a little over a week ago. I’ve been looking at these exact bumpers for a while. Like you, I live in a state that requires a front license plate. I like the winch idea. Just ordered one
Nice!! It's a fun install, good luck with it William!
How did you angle the light bar correctly so that it is not pointing too far down or up?
Hey P-51 Mustang, for this specific lightbar, there's no option to change beam trajectory so I just made sure it was mounted flush against the anchor points.
It’s that a 24 inches light or a 22 in?
Hey silvestre08al... the description says 24" but physical dimension is actually 22". Just make sure that whatever you get, it measures out to at least 22" so you won't have a gap on the sides.
I'm going to buy this bumper and light and install it myself. What did you do for a light switch??
I just used the button switch that came with the lightbar and just stuck it where the rest of the light switches are as I've ran out of empty button spots. You can do an OEM style switch and here's of my videos showing the install: ua-cam.com/video/9O29v6pEuBg/v-deo.html
