    I remember when I first started watching UA-cam you were the first youtuber I subscribed too. I believe you were in your apartment and working in the news still. I remember vividly you talking about either a coastal scents or bh cosmetics 120 color palette in the first video I saw.
    To this day I will click to watch your videos before anyone else's. I trust your opinions on products because you have never steered me wrong. I use to pull up your videos when I went shopping as a reference (I still go to your blog while I'm shopping).
    I loved being able to watch and feel like I've been part of milestones in your life. From you becoming a full time UA-camr, to your moves with new beauty rooms, to the first pregnancy announcement (I was so excited for you), to Belle's birth, and then later the same for Eve. I enjoy following you on all your platforms. I respect you so much Emily. I feel like you have been my older sister I have gotten to grow up with and experiment with makeup with. Keep doing you because you are are an amazing mother, wife, daughter, and makeup lover. Lots of love ❤️-Megan

      Megan!! Thank you SO much. Actually saying "thank you" doesn't seem like enough. I want you to know how grateful I am that you've been with me all this time... UA-cam is one of those things where if you get the least bit bored with what you see, you can easily click out and go somewhere else. It means the world that you've kept up with what I'm doing and, well, just the fact that you care. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! ❤️

    I'd love to hear about your mom's makeup because I'm turning 71 in July and so many of the make up bloggers are so young! I follow you, Hot and Flashy, and Tati the most. I have that Milani pallette, eye primer, the Essence nude highlighter, the Maybelline neutralizer and brightener, and numerous eye pallettes, highlighter pallettes and are you ready for it....84 individual shadows!!!! I couldn't even believe it myself. I can't wear nude lipsticks because I have adult acne that's darker than my lips! lol

    The way you put so much thought, consideration & creativity into your content, it's soo much appreciated. Your videos are so unique in that aspect. You really try to inform + educate your subscribers and we are so thankful for all you do. We know you put a lot of time & effort into your videos -- while still having an infant & toddler to tend to and care for, and then a hubby to cook for and clean up after! You're basically a working, stay-at-home mom! (AKA supermom) I know us moms especially appreciate you for that! lol :) xoxo

    I LOVE, LOVE your channel and have for years. I've followed your recommendations more times than I can count and I'm one who gets embarrassingly excited when it's time for the Emily Awards. So when you sent a personal plea to Rimmel to increase its color range, I so appreciated it. It says to me you're looking out for all of your followers. You are knowledgeable, funny and great to watch! Thanks Emily.

    Thanks for all your recommendations. I have to throw in my two cents on mascara. I'm in my late sixties and have worn and tried out many mascara's since I've started wearing makeup in my early teens. Some I've liked better than others. I have finally found an mascara that I've been wearing for the last two years and you couldn't pay me to change! It's Essence Lash Princess. It gives me long, thick, never clumping eyelashes!!! One tube last forever and never gets dried out towards the end of the product. One tube seems to last forever! It's cheap and Cruelty-Free. Now Essence has other mascara's in their line that I've used when Lash Princess has been sold out where I shop. They were very disappointing! Now I'll buy maybe 5 tubes at a time and stash them because I never want to be without this product. I can't say enough good things about Essence Lash Princess!

    Emily I really love and appreciate the fact that you are still pretty knowledgeable when it comes to drug store products. And that you still wear and review those products. One thing I have noticed with youtubers is that once they start making money and getting popular they completely forget about the drugstore And they barely wear or talk about them. Thank you for staying so down to earth for us. You truly love ALL makeup and review and cover things that go from the lowest price to the highest. You are the best.

There are too few true guru's who teach us about products and how to use them, tell us which one's we might want to try and give us honest opinions on what's out in the beauty world. Hi Emily !!!
    I have been watching you for years and LOVE your presentation style !!!
    The thing I like best about you, you talk to us like a friend and not a sales pitch.
    Your natural nail hands aren't fluttering across the screen or fingers pointing like a kid learning piano for the first time. Your energy is perfect and sincere.
    I have NEVER been disappointed with any product you've suggested.
    Thank you for continuing to educate us (at your personal expense $$$) and giving us confidence to spend our money on your suggested products.
    You're my favorite !!!
    Most Sincerely,
    Kelly~

    Thanks so much for including your Mom's perspective on the different products you recommend here! I am a grandmother too but still want to look polished and pretty. I hear so many beauty youtubers using the work "grandma" in a negative way, not intentionally mean but disregarding of the perspectives of mature women or relegating us to negative stereotypes of dowdy, out of date old ladies. It can feel discouraging. But your consideration of her was kind and very useful. Thank you!!

      I love Milani Creme lipsticks, for me I am 1 or 2 shade lighter than Emily. that Milani blush is pretty but not peachy for my neutral skin tone. I look best in peachy or dusty rose blushes and that Milani eyeshadow palette is to cool tone and light for me, the higher is to gold for my skin tone. But gold higher look pretty on deeper skin tones. the clump crusher mascara works but wand is to big for my little eye.nyx older blushes and eyeshadow were awesome have not tried new formula. Favorite eyeshadows and blushes makeup geek. Love watching Emily video always brightens my day.😄 have been watching sense the pink room in old house before belle was born.

    I have olive skin, and as you mentioned, Rimmel is only available in light shades. I love this foundation, so I mix in a bit of NYX Pro Foundation Mixer (available in 6 shades- $9.99 @Ulta). Just couple of drops goes a long way, and the best part is that it doesn't alter the consistency or longevity of the foundation. It's pure pigment as far as I can tell!

    I wear Rimmel faithfully for years. I buy it in the black squeeze tube. Once u set this it doesn’t move till u remove it with an oil. It’s smudge proof, sweat proof,water proof,humidity proof! And it is! I have been out all day in a humid hot summer and I can sweat! Well I actually was so tired I payed down on my bed for a minute now I did my makeup at 8 am I never have to ever touch up. I ended up falling asleep and I didn’t wake up until the next morning at 11 am and aside from my highlighter rubbed off on one side but I woke up looking exactly how I did the morning before!! It’s amazing foundation!

    Thanks for this video Emily. Very helpful. I also appreciate the products you mentioned that your Mom likes. As a consumer of more mature age (50), it is good to hear someone consider our needs as well. Sometimes to browse the store selection is enough to make me turn tail and run. During my high school and college years the selections were a lot less but not as daunting. Anyway, upon your recommendation, I have been using the Rimmel foundation and have been pleased with the results. Have also used Estee Lauder and Elizabeth Arden in the past. But when the budget calls for it, Rimmel works very well. Thanks for your videos and practical reviews!!! Also love, love the blouse you are wearing. When you started the eye product category, the first thing that popped out of my mouth was "Milani eye shadow primer!" 🤣 Also, after you mentioned those Neutrogena lip balms, I went to the store that day and got the caramel color you were wearing & the plum color. I definitely like the plum one, but I LOVE the caramel color!!! Everything you say about them is true! My lips feel amazing wearing it, and they feel so plump and "filled in", plus the color is absolutely gorgeous! It looks good when I wear no makeup, and it looked beautiful when I had a full face of makeup on for a Friday night out. Thank you for the awesome suggestion beautiful girl! I was just talking to my daughter yesterday and talked about your channel, I was telling her you have to get malina eye primer and I was telling her to checkout the eyeshadow palette, and blushes from this line...

    I just tried the Rimmel Lasting finish and im kind of obsessed!! It's lasted through 90 degree days, light weight and so natural looking yet full coverage. It's quickly become my favorite foundation

    I absolutely love your recommendations. I've bought the Milani eye primer online (Milani isn't available in stores in Scotland) and I just LOVE it. I'm relatively new to make up (late bloomer) so all your reviews and recommendations have been such a wonderful help. Love your videos Emily and thank you for your help 😘

    Another great video! You've helped me become a better consumer. I know, now, what to look for. I use to walk into the cosmetic aisles, then walk right back out . . . just too overwhelming. But now, I understand the qualities I want (pigment, wear, etc.). I don't have the skill set to do all what you do. You've saved me money, time and sanity. I appreciate that. BTW, love to hear about the makeup for your Mom.

    Rimmel Lasting Finish and Maybelline Age Rewind are the best! They work so well together!

  • @anneemull
    @anneemull 7 років тому +49

    I've been curious....what are the functional differences between the Maybelline Age Rewind Neutralizer and the Brightener shade?

    • @jlstotes
      @jlstotes 7 років тому +24

      anneemull I believe the difference is that the Neutralizer is more yellow toned to cancel out (neutralize) blue/purple veins under your eyes, whereas the Brightener is more pink toned for areas that don't need to be neutralized and just need to be brightened. I hope that helped and made sense!

    • @danielleking3880
      @danielleking3880 7 років тому +11

      I use the brightener and it is a pinky peach. I am very pale and have a cool undertone. yellow makeup whether it's foundation or concealer, looks funny on me. pinks and peaches are more flattering and help hide my dark circles. so I think it also has to do with your undertone as to which one works best.

    • @kmaries1987
      @kmaries1987 7 років тому +5

      anneemull the brightener shade is pink so it will brighten under your eyes (I use this one and it really brightens) and the neutralizer shade is yellow so it will correct purple/blue tones. Hope that helps 🙄

    • @anneemull
      @anneemull 7 років тому +2

      danielle king thanks! I am very pale also and use the brightener shade for my under eye discolorations too. Emily has recommended quite a few peachy correctors for dark circles....erase paste, the Pixi one, etc. Was a little confused when she mentioned using a more yellow color to correct discolorations under the eye rather than a peachy tone.

    • @danielleking3880
      @danielleking3880 7 років тому +1

      I use the pixi corrector for really dark circles and on my malasma. Nyx also makes a good thicker cream concealer for hyperpigmentation.

    I have VERY oily skin and I didn't like the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation. For some reason it worked for me a couple years back, but I recently purchased it again and hated it! It looks great when you first apply it, but I found throughout the day it started "breaking down" around T-zone area and looked cakey after some time. ): everything else I agree with!

    • @perfectlyyoubeauty
      @perfectlyyoubeauty 7 років тому +2

      Cindy Briones i think Maybelline fit me Matte and poreless is a more universal foundation than the Rimmel one. Normally I have issues with Matte foundations because I'm combo dry but this one is fantastic.

    • @Cindy-el8dm
      @Cindy-el8dm 7 років тому +2

      Yes and yes! I also tried changing my application, I used a brush, a beauty blender, BOTH and even tried mixing it with my other foundations too. I ended up tossing it because it wasn't worth me trying to MAKE it work when I have other foundations that work better for me!

    Emily, I just love your videos -- and your channel. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of "what's new!" and "giant haul!" and "shiniest glitter!" type videos (absolutely a guilty pleasure) but reviews based in reason ("I like this texture, I don't like that staying power") and actual, practical, useful, applicable tips and recommendations (work-appropriate makeup, recommendations for oily skin, etc.) are the best -- and I think they are your strength. All that to say -- thank you! for videos like this one. (I'm a Covergirl clump crusher fan for life because of you, and now I'm adding those NYX lip pencils to my list!).

      xkristixx It often happens when getting older...

    • @BekiRose
      @BekiRose 7 років тому +7

      xkristixx it's really not something you can do intentionally. A lot of people's skin will get drier or oiler with age. I used to be pretty normal/slightly dry in high school and now out of college I'm oily as can be. Emily has also had kids and that changes just about everything your body has to offer 😅

    • @SemaAvalith
      @SemaAvalith 7 років тому +3

      If you're struggling with oily skin... then here's something positive about oily skin: your skin will age at a slower rate(?) than those with dry skin... lol my sister in law has super dry skin and she's worried about the fine lines around her eyes already because her skin's so dry...

    • @quixotic7460
      @quixotic7460 7 років тому +3

      Your skin tends to naturally change with age. The climate you live in also makes a difference

    • @Sophie-jn6qq

      I'm just about to turn 21 and my skin has dramatically changed in the last 6 months. It was somewhat oily to normal but now I have dry patches like never before, i have dry patches around some blemishes in combo areas and then spots in areas from stress. I think it's age mostly but I feel too young to be getting maturing skin! Age is what effects it most, just a natural progression

  • @mavrick6499
    @mavrick6499 7 років тому +1

    What a great idea Emily. I also have used the L'Oreal True Match powder and it has stayed with me as I've aged. I keep it in my purse and somehow no matter how often I re-apply it always looks perfect. For mature skin I think NYX's Boho Chic cream blush is the best. You can put more or less and it always works. And for eyeshadow, I love Physician's Formula Canyon Classics quad. I even use the grey colour for a soft eyeliner and on my brows to fill in sparse patches. I wish I could subscribe twice so we could get you to a million.

    • @kateri17
      @kateri17 7 років тому +10

      BARE I agree and it's strange to me that they don't have more shades because Maybelline actually has a very wide range of shades in their foundations, especially the FitMe line. Really the drugstore just needs to step it up all around with deeper shades!

    • @LisaMarieDC

      BARE that's really unfortunate and frustrating. It seems to be a huge problem with Cosmetics companies not making an appropriate selection of deeper tones. I really hope that changes asap.
