- A good Helsman must know how to counter
strong current especially when passing
narrow channel and Narrow Bridge.
Always pay attention to Master n pilot
order during hand steering operation.
Repeat Command if not clear by your side
to avoid mis communications between
pilot and Helsman.
Inform pilot or Master if steering not answering
due to strong current or vsl engine was stopped.

If the pilot order starboard 15 , and orderrled again port 10 without ordering midship first what shoul i do?
First midship your helm then port 10
Rudder port 10 Now sir.. hard starboard now sir..rudder zigzag sir
Sir it happened always from port to starboard especially when there is a strong current. Capt n Pilot does that to immedeatly control the bow headway.

Pilot does not take the command of vessel rather acts as an adviser 🙂

Pilot have no command. He could give only advice to master. How did you miss that?
Sir i mean pilot give order to AB but anytime the Master can change the order of pilot due all responsibilities is on Master shoulder.
