The use of a VISUAL along with AUDITORY and REALIA in conjunction with the explanations and MODELING…this is why you are a good teacher. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for explaining the life cycle of grubs. Makes it really easy to understand when to apply the right treatment. Much appreciated. I used to think the brown spots in my lawn were fungus or something else. Turned out I had crazy grub infestation.
Thank you Allyn!! I knew you've made a lot of these videos over the years. But I so appreciate you updating and redoing seasonal videos like this it's super helpful.
This is my first spring with the LCN We were in the 80's earlier in the week now 40's for the high and two inches of rain. I'm still waiting to get my new stress blend down Weather in the Carolinas
I put some and down a few days ago and I have seeds under the dirt from over a year ago I pull up a clump of grass near my house and poof perfect soil and grass seeds waiting for water
Omg! Great video!!! Just what we needed. Perfect timing as well. Watched this video while at HomeDepot shopping for gardening materials and grub control products. Thank you!!
Allyn, I personally want to thank you and a few others in the LC community . When I bought my home three years ago, I had zero knowledge about lawn care, I didn’t even know the names of the various types of cultivar of grass types, smh. But after watching many hours of your videos, my lawn dominates all other lawns in my neighborhood. It’s literally to the point I literally get people constantly stop by to ask how did I get it to look so good. My wife recently encouraged me to start a lawn consultation business. Something I’m still thinking about. Again Allyn, thank you for sharing your LCN knowledge. I am now a NUT for LAWN CARE!!!
I'm going to try and spray a predator nematode mix and a BT (bacillus thuringiensis galleriae) product approach this week. I've never done this before.
Thanks for another great video. I submitted my first soil sample a month ago and appreciate the guidance on correcting my lawn’s condition. That dominator down the street is going to have some competition!
Love your very detailed videos I at about 900$ is resodding that's not even the back yard I'll just take care of existing st aug and i guess scalp the wild bermuda
I put some sand down in the bare spots to encourage temperature and moisture encourage the established grass to grow and take over and fill in and smooth
Awesome video and I appreciate all the information. My neighbor has a granular product called Talstar and she swears by it. Have you ever used that product for lawn insects?
I never had anyone show the grub cycle on line before...THANKS...I live in New Brunswick Canada and many places on my lawn there is still snow....We are probably 4 weeks behind with our weather compared to what I see in your video....should I start my grub program possibly the middle of May
@@randallwright2214no he used the liquid and the Scotts GrubX . Those are both grub prevention. The bio-advanced 24 hour kill is to stop grubs that are actively feeding on your grass roots killing your grass.
So new home owner here. Living in south Florida. What would you do if you found an infected lawn during todays date with this heat this late in summer. I was planning on fertilizing soon but now I feel I may have to treat first due to dead spots.
hello sir.. i live in savannah Ga and when it rains here my lawn just seems to hold water forever. do you have any recommendations on how to drain the water faster.
First I would control the downspout water and where that goes. Second, install French drains. It is a lot of hard work to do but it's not someting that requires a lot of engineering either. It's super approachable for any DIYer. I would check out "Apple Drains" on UA-cam.
Hey man. I watch all your videos and I live in Canada. Ontario. Toronto. Where do I get this stuff from. I’m talking about fungus control prevention or treatment ?
Allyn, great timing on this video. Thanks. Something I hope you can talk about that I have never felt confident about. Coverage of spreading and spraying. I always feel that I need to drench every blade or the spreading look like not enough product going down. I always run out of whatever before finishing an area. I guess what I am asking is how do you put down the right amount and how heavy do you need to saturate all of the grass?
There seem to be varying opinions on whether neonicotinoids like imidacloprid are safe for honey bees. Do you have any tips on how to mitigate that risk to bees while still controlling grub damage? Thanks as always and happy Easter!
Thank you Allyn. Can you tell me how much water to water in? I use a sprinkler to water. Is there some type of rule of thumb I can use after I apply this product? Also same question for humic products. Thx.
Can’t get Imidacloprid delivered here via Amazon or any other site unless licensed here in Ct as a DIY’r what should I get to save money? I’m trying to avoid the $55 for x2 bags of grub ex 😩. Thanks
Great thanks for a newer updated grub video! I did grub ex last yr and then dylox later in fall. ALOT of the FB group members recommended arena and thought of that route but most grub guides recommend merit or preventative. Thoughts on arena for grubs and as a once a yr app to cure all bugs and crawlers???
Thanks for reminding me to put down this app. Got your liquid stuff. It's cheaper than buying the Scotts stuff since I have to do an app on a large lawn.
Learned a lot, great review! I’m in the transition zone Kansas. 15K tall turf, type fescue lawn , so I’m going to put down bio advanced complete insect killer on Cinco de Mayo May 5 on a Friday. Looking at your cycle chart, Is this a good date? What do you think?
A question regarding Scotts Grub ex and Scotts Disease ex Both require watering into the soil Would you recommend spreading both at the same time or spread Grub ex and 2 weeks later spread Disease ex? Information is limited for Disease ex and spreading both on the same day.
Central Texas here. Pretty sure we caught all of the junebugs in the world in our pool skimmer last month - you're welcome! 🤣 But seriously, we had quite a bit of grub/chinch damage to our St. Aug coming into this year that I didn't prep/plan for last season. I didn't know the relation between the two until this year or else I'd have made the connection previous years. The junebugs have been getting more and more year over year. I applied Triazicide as a corrective on March 10th after I noticed my mistake (dug up and found both grubs/chinch). Very few junebugs showing up in the pool overnight now. Is right now still the right time to apply a first round of preventative?
I'm in the DFW area and I will put down imidacloprid early to mid June. Imidacloprid is good in the soil for 3 - 4 months as it starts deteriorating So if you put it down in June, you'll catch the eggs hatching in mid to late June through Early September. Hope this helps
Question, if you killed your lawn off sometime in early July for a full lawn reno, would that mean that you also took care of the grub problem as there’s no living plants for them to feed on?
Allen I'm in my 2nd season of your lawn care plan. I have 2 questions. My soil test came back low in npk. I plan to throw down starter in my first app. Can I also spray down green pop with it. How long should I wait after the granular app should I wait. Also plan on starter for my 2nd app same as last season. What do you recommend.
I would not do them both at the same time. You don't have to correct the issue all in one day. use the soil data to guide all of your future apps. If you want, in the YM app you can activate a custom program based on your soil test - it will tell you want to apply all season.
That's what I heard too and I am battling them little monsters too. Definitely going to be doing exactly what this guy did. Also digging them little tunnelers up.
I'm not sure about that one, I just know the adults come out in later May and June so you want to be ahead of that with your grub treatment (preventative)

I put out grandules last week, on an acre. With a hand broadcast spreader, ugh! Fighting lots of moles/voles! Anyway does the grubs x by Scott's kill the earthworms in your lawn? Right now our lawn has a lot of the weeds it isn't a lot of grass I'm working on it but had a lot of health issues last year anyway I'm trying not to kill off my earthworms but I have a lot of Japanese beetles and June bugs and I was fighting those the last couple of years but I couldn't deal with them last year. I'm wondering if you heard about the Milky spore powder and if so is it really any good I know it takes time a few years and that it stays in the ground forever but it is supposed to kill the grubs and if you have heard about it what your advice is regarding it? And I am researching pull behind and push broadcast spreaders I watched your video on them and I like the one you use!
