I think you would do it I know I would many people would probably do it if they had the opportunity it just very uncommon for pigeons to be social like that yeah they eat the food that you throw at them but they wouldn't go to the point where they let you touch them I don't think the woman is special I think it's the pigeon that is special

I found a sick pigeon on a sidewalk in downtown Seattle. Took him home overnight and kept him safe and quiet in a carrier in the garage. I have 3 cats and didn’t dare try to keep him, but drove him 30 miles or so from my home to a wildlife place that would take him. Did the same for a duck hit by a car a few years later. And stopped and picked up a squirrel I saw hit by a bus but not dead and took it to the vet. It died right there before he could examine it, but the vet was impressed that I cared enough to stop and try to save a dying squirrel. I just really can’t stand to leave people or animals to suffer. As a kid tried to save numerous birds and chipmunks but didn’t have a clue what I was doing.

One of my cats used to do that. She loved sleeping on dad’s laptop and there were multiple times where she did Google searches, and one time she somehow favorited one of these Google searches. And another time she almost deleted a picture of me (I stopped her though). I guess she didn’t like that picture?
She’s also disrupted me when playing Minecraft online or just sending messages to friends.
She was great, I miss her a lot.

Everybody needs a friend, and unfortunately, pigeons don't have many friends in this world, or a very easy life. That's why I go out of my way to help them out and hook them up with water and goodies, but especially water. In Vegas in the summer, water is more precious than gold, even more so if you happen to be a pigeon.

I was just adopted by a fox this weekend! OMG a dream became reality. I live in the country, and we support a colony of feral cats. I've been able to gain the trust of a few of them. I guess the Fox has been watching from the den opening that is within eyesight of the deck where we feed and interact with the cats. It was warm enough to lightly bundle up and sit outside and read this weekend and those few cats will jump onto my lap for some pets and naps. After awhile I really got into my book and didn't look when there was a change of furry personnel, until I felt the fur. I slooooowly lowered the book and all could see were these enormous black ears. A few seconds later, she/he caught me looking and hopped down and trotted about 20' away. I went back to reading and a few minutes later my new friend rejoined me. This happened four times, until the last time I got a nip on the sleeve before she/ he snatched my bowl of chips and trotted all the way back to the den. I spotted she/he last night eating with the cats instead of waiting until they finished. This morning that adorable foxey face was sitting amongst all the little feline faces waiting patiently for breakfast, and staring up at the backdoor window. I didn't get my bowl back though.😐 But as long as the cats are cool with their new family member, I'm cool too.

Pigeons are as intelligent as some other birds that we like to say are at the top of the chart. They learn faster than dogs, and about as fast as crows. Same with chickens. Pigeons are disliked because there are so many of them, but that's because of human trash. For people who like to have birds as pets, they are excellent alternatives to some others that may bite because they are so gentle natured. hats off to this very kind lady. Pigeons are amazing birds. They have very good memories, can recognize individual people and can be taught to recognize words. In a recent study, one bird could recognize 58 words.
Pigeons can do things most birds can't:
    1) They can drink water by sucking it up instead of scooping a beak full and tipping their head back to swallow.
    2) They feed their chicks Crop Milk, a nutrient fluid created in their crop, instead of regurgitating predigested food.
    3) They can fly up to 75 miles per hour.

What’s amazing is that this isn’t just your typical dog rescue. This is a pigeon. The birds everyone hates. The birds people classify as pests and are often shooed off. Not cared about. I’ve always been confused how people love nature but still hate particular animals that seem to bother them for no reason. My promise is to love all nature, and that includes pigeons. I love how this lady helped this pigeon out. Really kind - she will go to heaven.

I love it !!!! I had a dove back in 1983-1988 best birdie ever🐦 he would fly from one end of the room, to the top of your head if you pat on your head to call him. He was a beige ring back named "burd turd" I gave him away to a lady with another one when I moved away. She had him for 11 more years. It was a great experience❣️ 🐾🏵️😁

Birds make the best pets. You just have to understand they cannot be “potty trained” as far as I know. But there must be ways bird owners deal with that.

    • @tonibauer2949

Daisy Cocoa I think there are some weird little bird diapers that let their tails stick through.

    • @heartofsnowwhite2082
      @heartofsnowwhite2082 4 роки тому +37

They can actually be potty trained to an extent.
I never trained my parrot to be potty trained but whenever he pooped on me I'd have to put him away from me to clean up and he hated that he couldn't be near me for a bit after that. So he learned to fly away to poop in his cage so that he could then sit on me again and be with me. They're really smart.
But there are ways to train birds (especially parrots) to go poop in one place. Either way it's not as bad as people think.

Birds make the best pets for people who understand the responsibility of them and do their research on that specific kind of bird. Hook-bills especially, they're very difficult to maintain depending on the type. Make sure you do as much research as possible, folks.

    • @eugeneelyjr3037

Actually yes they can. I set my sun conure on the edge of the bathroom sink and say "Go potty" a few times. He does that when he wakes up and before he goes to bed. It took a while but you just have to be patient. He also goes in his cage as well. It just depends on the bird and how much you work with it I guess. 😊

You can tell it was a baby pigeon when she found it by the shape of his nose and nostrils. Then you can tell it is a male by the colors on its neck. Lastly, purring is part of the mating behavior.
