What's up guys, me and my dad just started our very own podcast! go check it out ua-cam.com/video/AJzvSK8f3AQ/v-deo.html
This was a great reaction vid you and your dad are hilarious
Your dad is a font of Musical history wisdom :)
Can you and your dad react to some pharaoh, mos def and talib?
White guy is El-P. He legendary in his own right as well. Not only is he a producer, rapper, he also is the owner of Definitive Jux record label which released cannibal ox album, Murs, Aesop rock, and Del the funky homosapien's albums and was legendary in the alternative hip-hop scene before starting his record label and doing Run The Jewels with killer Mike.
Company Flow!
I miss def jux wish he would bring it back
He really doesn't get the respect he deserves, the norm for reactions to this, "who's the white guy"
I remember listen to a lot of dope stuff from some of those Def Jux artists, but El-P never hit for me. Now that I'm grown, I really dig his work.
the voice! he got the voice. some people think to rap u need to fake an accent but nah it's our natural voice. Mix that with some good flow it's amazing.
“He look like a welder” is laugh out loud funny
I thought he said "Wilbur". Which is a thing.
I was rolling
Definitely killed me lol
I’m a welder and that shit was lol
I’m sure El P would take it as a compliment that he looks blue collared.
El P goes back way further than Mike. He started one of the first underground labels in Def Jux and his group company Flow. El gets busy
That Def Jux stuff still bumps heavy in my rotation!
@DrPeePeePooPoo el p had a 12 inch out first
@@aaronhooper3328 yea especially cannibal ox cold vein album
GAME_ THEORY For sure! I bump that along with Fandam and basically all of Aesop Rock’s discography on the regular!
"Way further" is pushin it. They both got started in the 90s. El-P hit the ground running, but he mostly stayed on the indie side of things. Mike had a grammy out the gate lol
It's about freeing ourselves from the chains of money and debt.
Money is backed by the government...Implying there is no government (at least one backing the money worth anything).
They control us with money and wealth. Without it and they lose their control
Robbie Jack I’m still waiting on that Apathy album!
Definitely. He mentions reading Chomsky (prominent liberian socialist) later in the album. This song is about having a big party after we create a new society free from capitalism and the state.
@mranonomousperson Mike is also an avowed capitalist, landlord, business owner, and banker now. He somehow believes black people can uplift themselves while working within the system of capitalism. He also ran PR for the NRA.
Don't get me wrong, I like Killer Mike and when he speaks on the problems in America, he isn't wrong. His answers and solutions to those problems leaves a lot up to debate though.
There's a black youtuber I really like who broke this down on a video about black capitalists and another one on Killer Mike specifically. Check out F.D. Signifier
El-p is straight from the new York gutter underground sound of the 90's. His production has always been forward thinking with a gritty, hard futuristic sound. Definitely check out more run the jewels or the album R.A.P music by killer Mike (produced by El-P).
Definitely. His early Def Jux is like walking through a futuristic dystopian New York.
What is truly special is to watch that young man enjoy time with his Dad you can tell they love each deeply. Nothing like a Father and Son love.
And RTJ
I gotta say, my fave part of all this is just seeing Dad & Son enjoying each other. That's a great family, right there.
"He looks like a welder" lol. Dude is a master class worthy lyricist and producer. El- is top tier period.
EL-P’s been doing the shit since the days of Company Flow.
8 steps to perfection
Finally. Thank you.
The video (it explains quite a bit at the beginning) is about the time when we all come together, rise up, fight the establishment for our freedoms and ascertain peace. At that point there is no need for money.
So everyone is burning it.
Because its all about love and helping one another. At which point, money is worthless.
The video portrays the End of Capitalism and American Exceptionalism.
It sure does
Y'all missed Zach making an appearance in the video. If you aren't familiar with Zach, you gotta check out some Rage Against the Machine.
I think I screamed a little the first time I saw the orginal.
I thought he looked familiar.
I was like "what's he doing there??" 🤣 Can't wait to hear their whole album
@@somniatic The full album was released on youtube 2 days ago in case you missed it.
@@somniatic his flow on Ju$t is great.
Thats zach de la rocha in the video too the unofficial third member of rtj
He's the secret character you unlock after pulling off some dope ass combo
Unofficial member of RTJ, Officially badass, though.
EL-P is one of the best white rappers of all time
The best*
@David Assio idk, yall forgetting about RA the Rugged Man. El-P nice as fuck though
It took me a while to realize this but its true. I listened to a lot of Aesop Rock and heard him on a few tracks, but after R.A.P. Music I started listening to him more. His verse on the Huzzah Remix was what made me a true fan. He counted the bars he was rapping.
One of the best period
@@oliveroberg737 Aesop is. Sorry.
I feel like Run The Jewels is a litmus year for how well versed you are in the world of hip hop. It’s sad seeing so many people not know who El P is. But I’m glad he’s had this rebirth into the mainstream and is getting the recognition he’s deserved since he came out.
lol he straight up said El-P looked like a welder. This was awesome
The video is about when we the people decide money no longer rules us !! And celebrate and have I e big party..the people..not the 5%
Thank you CJ's Dad!! Thank you for dropping the knowledge on Greg Nice. He has been around since I was a little one!! Did not know that but LOVE his performance in "Ooh La La." Thank you for the additional background info on Killer Mike, as well. I knew he ran with Big Boi and the Goodie Mob, but didn't know the depth of Killer Mike's activism with Bernie Sanders.
El-P intrigues me, too. He's got that Irish temperament that I like in white boys who are respectable. El-P is cool.
Have the two of you watched "Trigger Warning with Killer Mike" on Netflix? He goes DEEP into his politics, which involves creating a third party / independent nation! He is serious when he preaches "kill your masters."
Thank you for the informative video. Kudos to you both. CJ's Dad, you're gonna have to tell us your name at some point...are you Generation X?
EL-P is the dopest white emcee since Everlast&MCA
Killer Mike - Ronald Reagan is a good song to check out if you havent seen it..
Money is inherently meaningless and worthless. The value of money is not in having it, it is in the things you can do with it. The goods and services, To stockpile money is merely to store and squander potential. You are depriving yourself and the world.
Further, a step even further, the goods and services are also meaningless and worthless. It is not about having the stuff. It is what you can do with the stuff, and whom you can share it with.
PEOPLE are what is important. All the material wealth, all the goods and services. We amass these things to impress other people, to raise our self esteem in comparison to the state of affairs of other people. We do it to provide, to socialize, and to have the power to benefit others.
Money is not the root of evil. It is the WANT of money that is the root of evil. That ruthless lust driven by our primal survival instincts. It is not the mark of a civilized human. It is a manifestation of our bestial nature.
damn "To stockpile money is merely to store and squander potential. You are depriving yourself and the world." word
Ive heard the phrase the LOVE/WANT of money is the root of all evil but I really do think its just Money is the root of all evil....because if you think about it money has caused most of the problems we have in this world and even if you were an isolated tribe hidden from the rest of the world ,your life will be negatively affected by money...because some corporation will steal your land and culture just so the western culture can have cheaper oil or hamburgers.
On another level....humans used to hunt and harvest food because mother nature was bountiful.but with the advent of money now we have no land to harvest and we have to get a job to pay for rent,mortgage,food,clothes,health,education,entertainment....all of which was free to us.we were born free but capitalism and governments have fucked us out of all of it.
Money is the root of all evil.
One of the best youtube comments I've ever had the fortune of stumbling upon.
Deeper than the Mariana trench
ayy when you paused at 3.50 i just noticed for the first time zach dela rocha from rage against the machine
Money is the Root of Evil, if u burn it u eliminate Greed and division an those who follow...Free to fight for Free to eventually leave us be. OOOH LA LA AW WEE WEE
That smile when greg pops up hell yeah
The White guy is El-P. He also produces the beats. (And did it for Company Flow and Cannibal Ox way back then).
LOVED THIS, thank you and your dad :)
This video made me sub. Listening to your dad, who is hella knowledgeable in hip-hop, was super dope.
"Outcast branch", lol, the simplest way to describe The Dungeon Family ever, lmao
Y’all def gotta do some more run the Jewels reactions!
Props to your pops. True OG
Definitely my favorite 2020 banger 🔥
My dude, you have the best paps ever. Stay safe guys, love from South Africa
your dad was makin that stank reel heep hap face the whole time lol. rtj passed the old head test
Read up on the political philosophies of folks like J. Posadas and Peter Kropotkin and this video may make a lot more since.
They need to add a Kropotkin / Fanon fist-and-gun shirt to their merch offering.
Love to see y’all react to the song Run The Jewels. Great song, great video.
Ima have to rewatch this on Father’s Day. Pop on it!
Do RTJ "Close Your Eyes", I am interested on how Pops reacts. "Nice and Smooth is funky, also hip hop junkies", I see you Pops!
Hell yeah been waiting
Yankee and the Brave! Man it isthe match up of the century, one of the best minds of our time and an all star producer joining forces to move us to kill our masters. I know they don't have a video for it yet but Walking in the Snow and Ju$t from this album are also smashers.
I could safely say any of their music videos are great to bust out, Nobody Speak is just hard hitting comedy and their actual song Run The Jewels video feels like one of the best shout outs to the origin of their union being from Adult Swim....but Call Ticketron is my go to for a cranial massage.
In the thumbnail, I was like "Is that Sir-Mix-A-Lot reacting with his son?" Then I was like, "Oh..."
This is great. We need more dads react videos
old man on his shit, i like yall two together
Great Vid! I love your Dad, you are very lucky! New Sub as of now!
That shit was dope, you guys are fun to watch. New subscriber👌🏼
Big up to pops!! He knows his stuff.
I like how your pop is rocking the Cartiers 👍👍
The message was tear it all down so money cant control you.
Hey guys, just wanted to drop in to say that you producin nice content. Keep up the good work
man you can tell the dad is a real hip hop head
Knows what hes talkin about 100 %
I hadn’t thought of that interpretation of the money! But the way I saw it was that they were saying “fuck you” to this social agreement that we call “money” which has been the biggest oppressor of all the people in the street who now seemed to be celebrating their liberation. But thats the beauty of it, it means a million things.
I'm from the future - you know what this is about now.
Dad’s got the analysis down
Your dad sounds cool as hell. He had some cool insight on this one.
Also, you might as well do all the RTJ videos. They're all dope!
DJ Premier and RTJ is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The message: You have nothing to lose but your chains, brothers.
I like your dad, seems very knowledgeable.
El-P was born out of the 3 rd Bass Sound. Dig in.
How come no reviewers know who El-Producto is?
this isn't the first video to be honest
I see it sooooooooooo much, it's insane. like damn at least google him or something. yall embarrassing.
Because they're causal asf
I was on the set of the video at Universal Studios, the money is fake prop money that looks real - and they really burned it 😊
French Revolution. "Let them eat cake." make sense?
"he look like a welder" subscribed
DJ Premier is the king of sample scratching
Killer Mike kills it he was awesome in outkast too
Props to pops knowing his hip hop
I had forgotten about that DWYCK track - and now I know why the Ohh la la a oui oui" sounded so familiar.
I also love the little Zach de la Rocha cameo... Rage Against the Machine!
Review RTJ Legend has it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pops knows what's up 👉🤛📿
Whole album is dope
They did the video in the financial district of Manhattan, NYC (Wall St. etc.). That’s the point of all the money and whatnot.
at 1:10 pops smiled like i did when iheard greg hit. this isht made the vid for me
Love it. The visionary side of politics -- you have to imagine the freedom from money, and the party, before you can work towards it. Thanks for this reaction, love the vid
i hate most music ,think its cos i am gettin old :P but i LOVE this song its epic
Upvote for your Dad. Dude is a scholar. As for the video, what I see is a post-money world. Nobody needs it, nobody is a slave to it. Look at the relief on the man's face who takes his last 20 out of his sock and throws that shit on the pile to burn. Dude had that in his sock, probably his last few dollars in the world, and by letting it go he is the equal of everyone else on the street.
Anybody just learning about El-P, recommend you go listen to Stepfather Factory
The essence of it is celebrating himanity in its full spectrum over money and power.
El-p, Mike and Premo hiphop perfected.
"He looks like a welder." dying :D
"He look like a welder" lol!
Watched this video too many times. It took a tiny image in a reaction vid for me to notice Zack de la Rocha was in it. Makes sense this video is his message.
El-P was a legend in New York’s underground rap scene in the 90s. He’s got some amazing solo projects. Fantastic Damage is one of my favorite debut albums of all time in hip hop.
El-P is the kind of white rapper that doesn’t give me secondhand embarassment as a white person: He’s not a corny, mediocre culture vulture copying people (especially black artists). Every emcee is influenced by somebody ofc, but El-P actually has original ideas in his head unlike all the white dudes that have been copying Eminem. I’m sure a lot of people might have hesitated to accept El-P as a rapper-since Vanilla Ice set such a bad precedent for white rappers-. Ultimately though, he earned peiple’s acceptance by being such a great rapper. El-P loves and respects hip hop as an art form, as well as the culture. He doesn’t rob from it, he’s a contributor to it. He’s more than just a top-tier white emcee like Em, Ill Bill, and R.A. The Rugged Man. In my opinion, El-P is one of the greatest rappers *of all time*. Is he in the top 10? No, but I’ll be damned if he and Killer Mike aren’t in my top 50 somewhere.
El-P has also been actively supporting BLM lately too, so that’s cool.
"He looks like a welder" 😂😂
You guys should react to the three wise men cypher part 2 with Oswin Benjamin, Chris Rivers, and Denzel Porter. It’s one of the best live cyphers of all time!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Aye bro cj react to that king los freestyle it’s deep bro!!!!
Anyone else think the hook ("ooh la la en oui oui")is a reference to the French revolution? Lines like, "Fuck a king or queen and all of their loyal subjects" and the double meaning of bread, both food famine and money in the line 'Jump out of my bed like, "Where that bread"'. Class warfare, the bourgeoisie Vs the proletariat
Dunno, let them eat cake.
the whiteboy is named El-P, he ran the label Def Jux. Fun fact, when Zach de la Rocha left Rage Against The Machine he moved in with El-P.
@7:20 if you know Killer Mike, you know he's about keeping your community sustainable. you do not eat money, can you make your own food? can you harvest a crop? money is just part of the oppressive system put in place, as is racism. Do you feel equal in dignity and rights to a billionare? particularly a white one in america?
Y'all should def review Don't Speak by DJ Shadow ft RTJ. The video is top notch.
You guys should do a reaction to the new Jamo Gang also featuring DJ Premier and it's the first ever time Preemo and Atmosphere are in the same track.
Jamo Gang "the 1st time"
El-p is the best producer/MC of all time
Enjoying your reaction videos guys. I have a request for "Harlem Streets" or "Rich Man's World" by Immortal Technique. He's one of the best lyricists out there who is always dropping knowledge.
The video was directed by Brian and Vanessa Beletic, and in a statement, RTJ said: “This video is a fantasy of waking up on a day that there is no monetary system, no dividing line, no false construct to tell our fellow man that they are less or more than anyone else.
The dad is on it...
El-P is legend!
nobody seems to notice that zack de la rocha is in this video
Greg smooth🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Check out Cancer 4 cure, El
P's album where Killer Mike guested, before the formation of RtJ.
Do more of these ur dads cool as shit
You guys should react to "walking in the snow" by RTJ. Song of the year.
Aaahahaa. I never noticed Zack until they paused it @ 3:20
Have you done a dad's reaction to any Aesop Rock? I can't seem to find any if you did
