    Get a pool that you can actually swim laps in or have a pool with swim jets. With a screen enclosure, make sure that the deck around it allows sufficient room to walk around AND so that you can use the pool brush/skimmer/vacuum handles without bumping into the screened enclosure. Buy a house a the type of pool that you want so that the previous owner pays for the installation.

    How well does having a pool in Florida when it rains so much? Is there a lot of overflow? Any concerns of water getting into the homes?
    Love how informative you guys are thank you:)

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Jessica! Rainy season can cause some overflow on pools, but they all have drains for overflow or valves that help with this issue. And if they don't there is a way to add one to the pool! The water usually has a long way to go and has to go over the drain on the Lanai to even get close to the house, so that is not really a concern. Good question!

      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому +1

      Hi David, thanks for the insight! All builders use gas heaters in this area when building new construction pools and spas, so that's what we were referring to, but both are good options depending on the situation and area!

    How about Heating pool in the cold months in Florida

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому +1

      It can get expensive depending on the type of heater you have, but we heat ours until about January and then wait until March to start heating it again for use. If you have a hot tub, definitely year-round!

  • @TinaSparkle8

    What type of pool is the way to go? Concrete, fiberglass, liner?? I dont seem to see many liner pools in Floroda (correct me if I'm wrong)....

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому +2

      The majority of the pools in this area are going to be concrete with varying finishes. This gives you the most options in customizing the pool and lasts the longest. Fiberglass can be cheaper but limited on size & style. Vinyl is the cheapest but needs to be replaced more often, which could get costly. Concrete would be my suggestion! :)

    • @TinaSparkle8
      @TinaSparkle8 3 роки тому

      @@SoldByChenkus isn't concrete rough to touch? So I guess if you wanted more options E.g. spill over hot tub, you couldn't get that with fiberglass; have to do concrete.

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому

      @@TinaSparkle8 They cover it with a Pebbletc finish, still not super smooth but there are different finish options for the pools. But yes, anything special like the spill over hot tubs and additional features are more difficult with fiberglass, from what I've researched, but a pool company could give you more specifics!

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  2 роки тому +2

    Great video. I would like to meet you when I come down in July. Now 3 questions You missed in the video. 1- can you add the Pool price to the mortgage when buying a new home without a pool? 2- You did not mention how much is the monthly cost of pool maintnance if you use a pool service? 3- can you use solar heating to handle all the electrical needs to keep the pool warm? Thanks.

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Peter! We would love to meet you, as well!
      We answer those questions in the Blog post because we were even more detailed when writing it out, but if you are building new then yes, you can add the pool into the mortgage. Most pool companies charge between $85-200/month to service it, depending on what you have them do (so shop around and find a good price!) and Solar is definitely effective, if positioned in the right spot for the pool!
      Hope that helps! :)

    Can I ask what company you went with? I live in Sarasota FL on Palmer ranch....right now I have an estimate and I believe we are being over charged....I never building a pool before so....kinda worried. We are going with a geometric shaped pool...no special features, no waterfall, no spa, just stairs, bench, cage, heater, salt system and pavers.....they are quoting us over 60 Thousand. To me it seems very high considering we are keeping it very basic.

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  3 роки тому

      I am so sorry I just saw this now! I would say that is a bit high since most pools with spas and heaters are around $60k. Very informative guys - thanks! You didn’t address solar as an option for heating a pool. Could you discuss that here in the comments? Particularly interested to know: (1) Is solar the best heating option, even considering installation costs? (2) Is it worth waiting longer to watch for a salt water pool home that already has solar vs converting over from another heating source after purchase? Thanks!

    • @SoldByChenkus
      @SoldByChenkus  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Patrick! We mention solar as an option in the full blog post, but I apologize for not mentioning it in the video, as well. Despite this being the Sunshine State, solar heaters are not as common, but they can be effective depending on the yard, pool placement, and amount of sunlight your heater would get. I admit that I am not as familiar with the costs of those, but here is some info that might help www.fsec.ucf.edu/en/consumer/solar_hot_water/pools/q_and_a/index.htm
