Hi there, came to check a review of the Gibson Les Paul Studio Session. And now you've got a new fan. :) Fantasic playing. Greetings from the Netherlands!
THIS should be the video on the Gibson page! What else do you want? It has the right pups in it. It's clearly punching above it's weight. I played this video nice and loud on my Bluetooth speaker while I was in the shower and it sounded just great And when you kicked in that neck pick up, boy let me tell you what. I was sold!
@@BuddyBlues I went to try one this afternoon, took my wife so I wouldn't buy anything. The top isn't as nice your review model but the Bourbon burst is beautiful, the fit and finish was perfect and it simply played amazing literally right out of the box (they took it out and handed it to me). Wife actually thought I should get it but wanted to trade a few things in to get the 10% so they are holding it for me until tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for the review, it definitely helped me make my decision! I haven't posted much in years but may do a review on it as well once I get it home!
Nice they are finally putting high quality pickups in the les Paul studio range . Both the 57 classics and BB pros are a huge upgrade over the 490 and 498 they were using for decades in the studio . The 57 classics are especially a great upgrade . The 57 are more of a modfied PAF or tweaked PAF than they are a carbon copy of a 57 PAF which is what makes them great . They have PAF specs but a more modern EQ curve . The mids are shifted lower compared to a PAF so that the 57 has more lower mids than a PAF or PAF clone . The Custombuckers and Burstbuckers have EQ curves more similar to a vintage PAF as their mids are voiced higher and thus have more upper mids . The 57 classics with that bump in the low mids are great for heavy Rock or Old School metal . Great pickup for stuff like Soundgarden as well .
Your intro playing was so aggressive I was afraid a string was going to break and poke out an eye! Crazy. BTW, I now have to rewire my LP to out of phase in mid position ASAP.
Nice ax. I used to own an LP Studio back in the early 90s. I wish I still had it. Very playable guitar. I just didn't care for the stock pups. They were not as good as what we hear in the demo. It had no coil splitting or taps.
Amazing demonstration. Salute from Spain. One doubt, please. I am asking myself if because the ultra weight relief and these kind of Kluson tuners, when you play standing, the weight is well balanced. The question is that the guitar remains diagonal respect your body if you don't touch with your hands. Thank you
A question no one has asked... How many sets of letters did you have to get at Walmart win order to accumulate 4 "S"es to spell out your marque...? :) SOUNDING GREAT MAN.
I have tried SO many times to vibe with a Les Paul. Even had a full blown USA Gibson and gigged a year with it. It was too heavy, even with modern weight relief.
Dang it! I got the blueberry burst Studio a couple of months ago and Gibson goes and does this to me? Me: Honey, I need a new Studio Session. Wife: You just got one. Me: Yes, but this one has an ebony fretboard and 57 Classics. Mine has rosewood and Burstbucker Pros. Wife: 🤯
Those modern, studio, lite and other LPs all look pretty interesting and playable, but I wish they'd release something a bit more edgy than all those "fun" colours. Black, gothic, sandblasted, black stained, slightly aged, I don't know. This guitar is too pretty to shop up at a metal or punk gig with. Hell, it's too pretty to show up with in the studio even.
I have 6 Fenders, a Yamaha, and an Ibanez AZ which I use. And a 2010 Les Paul Studio which I don’t use, because it sounds bland and boring compared to the others. But this model sounds killer, especially the gainy tones towards the end imo. And your playing is EXCELLENT💫💥👍👍
So what happened to the Studio from just a few weeks ago and the elaborate marketing campaign of it being "The One"? I guess it wasn't, and now the real one is this Session version 🤣🤣🤣🤣 2K and no hard case, if you are a gigging musician the gig bags do not offer any protection on busy stages. Come on Gibson you need to do better than the same tired color palette. I'll be waiting for the next the Truly Real One in a few more weeks 🥸
@BuddyBlues true story my hate for body binding has made me a studio buyer since my Gary Moore les Paul.. I dont mind it on solid colors but a flame/quilted top I like to see the edges flowing through to the body edges..
You were looking at me when you said “the out of phase thing” weren’t you
🫵🏼 specifically, and to welcome you please enjoy your lick at 3:58 on the house
Lolol, ya gotta love it
Awesome playing Buddy 🎸 ❤ 🔥 beautiful new release from Gibson sounds great ❤ 🔥
Two of the awesome blues players on the internet 🎉
And I forget to mention-YOU ROCKED THAT GIBSON! Great job! Greetings from Hollywood California!
Thanks so much man! I was in Hollywood at the beginning of the year and got to see the sign from the observatory. It was beyond gorgeous
Great playing and video 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man!
WOW what a sound my GOD !!!! Stunning playing as well !!!
Gnarly bluesy intro. Love it.
Om my, sounds and looks great.
And it's blue!👍🎶

Meaty review / Mountainous tones. Heartfelt thanks. Everything I needed to know about this guitar. Thank you, Sir. Bought one. Subscribed.

Great review! This may be my next purchase!
Mine too because I have to send this one back 😂

As Clark's dad says......She's a beaut !!
Definitely think I’m going to get one of these
Loved the video. You really put the guitar through its paces. John from MI
Thanks John!
Go Buddy go ! 👍🎸
I love that they put the axxess carve on the heel!
Well damn, you covered just about everything in style and type of music just with your playing... NEW SUB! Ty Buddy!
Thank you! Welcome aboard
fantastic play!
Reminiscent of a Studio lite I bought many moons ago…that one had ceramic pickups and was an absolute beast hitting the front end of any amp.
Beautiful! I also ordered one - and scored the best flame on an open box for $300 less on Sweetwater.
Nice one! That's one of the cooler looking tops I've seen of the Cobalt Burst Studio Session. Do you like the neck profile?
I love it!

Gorgeous guitar 💙 and your talents continue to amaze ✨️ I could listen to you play all day! Do you get to keep it?!!
Buddy ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Buddy throwing down.

It’s THE sound! I love it
My God!!!
I have an ebony board on my '90 Studio. Had it since new and always loved it - minus the weight! I don't think they did any weight relief that year.
That's why I only buy Les Paul's 8lbs 6 Oz's or less. My guy at Sweetwater gets me those great Gibson's!!
Is the Session worth $400 more than the Studio? I thought the Studio was the One, does that make the Session the "Two"
yes....now you can bring this "one" to a session
What amp should I get with this guitar as a beginner?

Oh yeah. Perfectly stable no neck dive or anything! Thank you for the kind words

whats that song he's playing too

My LP Classic with “weight relief” is one of the heaviest guitars I own. 😂
Wife: 🤯
Trade it in for the same color and she won't know :)
@Smart-Alex I now know why your user name is Smart Alex
@ hahaha, yes. Fortunately though, my wife doesn’t care about my expensive hobby. Nice playing, man!
I don't think she knows about second studio lp, pip

These are 57s? Thought they were burstbucker pros.
The new Studio released a couple months ago has BB Pros and rosewood. The new Studio Session has 57’s and ebony.
@ Session? Wow didn’t catch that.

I think they dubbed the entire new studio line as “The One”. The whole studio range given that it was brought back
Funny story they dubed the last studio that came out a few months ago the one Lmfao...
They dubbed the entire studio the one.
@BuddyBlues true story my hate for body binding has made me a studio buyer since my Gary Moore les Paul.. I dont mind it on solid colors but a flame/quilted top I like to see the edges flowing through to the body edges..
When JC Curliegh Restored Epiphone back to premium in 2019/2020 i have zero interest in Gibson..
Buddy was so excited by this guitar it made the hair on the back of his head stand up!😂
First
Second
I thought it was a rosewood board
studios are rosewood, the 'studio session' as in this video are all ebony boards.
There isn't "one" thing about this guitar that i like.
1 hr playing 👎
No idea what that comment even means
WoW!!!
That intro.
I need a cold shower.
3K for a guitar that needs the frets re crowned and scratches you cant mix.
It’s 2k, frets are plek’d, every Gibson is plek’d before it leaves the factory, it is nitro, which is literally the easiest finish to fix on earth.
